I was quite impressed with the way the Congressman handled himself on The Jay Leno Show. I was not particularly offended by his remarks concerning the other candidates. To watch part one of the interview click below:

    Al, totally agree.

Guess I’ll raise my hand. Do not agree at all but any one of the candidates is better than what’s in the White House now. Whoever is nominated gets my support. Can’t change everything over night but getting bo out is the first step.

There’s little I could disagree with re Dr. Paul’s views. I know some of the silent listeners (you’re out there!) may not like him as much. Presidents do not run countries by themselves. If Paul’s biggest weakness are his foreign policy or austerity stances, good. Those will be well-balanced against the other 535 out-of-control DC derelicts. Though in truth, I couldn’t characterize either of those things as weaknesses.

If we’re going to save programs in the end, the spending that supports them has to be brought into check or they will be ended for us when the bond markets eventually go south. This was all recently reminded to me today as I drove past the Capitol building in Sacramento today…beautiful building, but the problems that are caused within it’s halls are ruining a great state.

Canada got it’s financial act together when a Paul-like character, Preston Manning, formed the official opposition Parliament in the 1993, and it turned things around for Canada (to an extent…there is a shoe or two to still drop…but it helped a great deal by forcing the moderate Liberal party to balance budgets). You save important programs by making them sustainable, not by increasing spending based on market-bubble tax collections.

Ron Paul is the last hope this country has to prevent collapse.

I guarantee you if Borat Obammie or any of the Republicans except Ron Paul get elected it’s more of the same this country has had for the last 10 years (more Bushbama out of control debt, war and shredding of the Bill of Rights).

And that means lights out for this country.

      Dec 19, 2011 19:05 PM

      HI Ken,

Let’s all hope and pray that lights out does not happen. But, you know what, it could!

OK. Gotta weigh in here on RP.
I thought that in both interviews he handled himself very well. He seemed relaxed and comfortable. He doesn’t have a big ego. He’s able to laugh at himself. Stays consistant, and has a great sense of humor and timing. I thought he did himself well. I’m not a 100% supporter of him yet, but he is growing on me. I love good quotes, so here are the three best quotes i took from him.
    From the first interview:
“The greatest threat is the threat to our own “civil liberties” here at home”.
    From interview #2:
“The tax collection is a symptom of an appetite for big government”. and,
“Great empires end because of economic reasons”.
I can’t argue with any of those statements. A strong economy is the backbone of a nation. Without a manufacturing-based, healthy, vibrant, and growing economy, you can’t have a strong military/defense system, a high standard of living, or just about anything else people naturally want.
Very enjoyable. Thank you whoever turned us on to these videos.

      Morning Mr. C,

I could not agree more with your comments.

Actually, members of this forum turned me on to these videos. I don’t watch regular tv so I was unaware that the Congressman was even on Jay Leno. A number of comments came in from our friends here and so I googled Ron Paul on Jay Leno and that is what I got.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching these videos because they brought some excitement into this whole mess for me. The Congressman and his supporters indicated to me that there still is hope!

Thank you for the links Big Al. Much appreciated. As always, Good stuff!!!
Thank you Jerry O^OTB and Stevie for the Youtube video also.
Have watched many videos similar to this one, but this was a good
one. Reminded me again, as has been my observation for a number of
years now, that the tactics being employed today by those trying to destroy
our Constitution and our beloved country, are exactly the same as those employed by Communists in other countries. Create chaos and destabilize, ie. allow millions of illegal aliens into this country, many of whom are rogues, thugs, and malevolent. Then they use the chaos to our civil order, that they initiated and orchestrated, to justify clamping down on our freedoms and liberties under the guise of needing to have more power and control so that they can provide “security” to the homeland. What a ruse!
Thanks to all for keeping us informed.

    Dec 20, 2011 20:12 AM

HI FOLKS . I think anybody who doe’s not vote for MR. PAUL, needs their head examined. & those who will vote for obama, well what can one say about the brain-dead !!!

      Dec 20, 2011 20:23 AM

Irish….you can see from afar who is the right choice, but, it is amazing that those
who are so close are so misinformed..

        Dec 20, 2011 20:06 AM

        HI Jerry,

People who are misinformed are those who really don’t know and don’t care. Unfortunately, at this moment in time, that probably represents at least 50% of our country.

        Sad but true,

        Big Al

      Morning Stevie,

I read this article earlier and was somewhat surprised. I am a little jaded on this subject; however, because I am angry that Jesus has pretty much been officially taken out of the public sector during the season that Christians celebrate his coming in the world.

This is not meant to anger Jews or others who believe differently. It is only fair to allow them the freedom that they deserve also.

What has happened to our country!

      Morning Clay,

      Many thanks for this link.

        Al, From the above link.

Rudyard Kipling wrote “… If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken/ Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools/ Or, being lied about/ Don’t deal in lies/ Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it”

    Dec 20, 2011 20:33 AM

I would vote for Ron Paul as the nominee. However, I do not think the moderates in the GOP will give him the nomination. We’ll get another moderate nominated and he will lose to Obama. Next we get two years of unbelievable economic hell followed by World War III. Then we start over from page one. What a shame. Traderrog

      Dec 20, 2011 20:58 AM

Roger: What you predict is what I fear also, fear mostly the starting over part. So many things that have happened did not have to, but they did and we can’t change the past. Economic hell has been guaranteed, but I also see the Federal Government losing WWII because they will not get support from the people.

In the above leap 2020 report, they claim an 85% accuracy for their 2011 predictions, that is really high percentage and being a subscriber I would say they have been very accurate. Only timing is off. I do believe however their 30% decline in the dollar in 2012 is about right, but I absolutely hate using the Dxy measurement as tooling because all these counterparty currencies are fiat also. Only looking at this from a longer term perspective can any semblance of truth be seen, say 5 years. Averaging out 5 years is infinity to most traders, but in reality that is where an investor must go at the minimum, otherwise the noise and exposure will turn one deaf and blind. I am already dumb to the bones so I have nothing there to lose.

    Dec 20, 2011 20:35 PM

I find most that disagree with Dr. Paul have not listened to him directly nor read his books. Opposition is mostly from those reacting to talking points fed to them by opposition. As some panic, they are even resorting to libel and slander against Dr. Paul. This is an excellent opportunity for education of those willing to take the extra step to read or listen just a little more, to dig just a little deeper and check additional sources. The Dr. has the prescription, but for some the medicine will be hard to take.

    Dec 20, 2011 20:42 PM

    Yep John,

The doctor does have a prescription. This country is unfortunately, probably not ready for it. I know that I definitely am!

    Hi Al,

Just heard this today from the most recent interview on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno –> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Y7hu469z7k <–

You may want to get a good listen to this as he claims that Michelle Bachman "hates muslims", and that Rick Santorum hates both gays and muslims.

Now for those of us who have considered to vote for him, and were supporters of Bachman or Santorum, are now completely turned off by his remarks. This kind of talk is what the liberals have been claiming about the Republican party for decades. We do not need this kind of slander by another candidate running on the Republican ticket. Would-be reupblican voters of Bachman, Gingrich, Santorum, etc. may sit on their hands now if Dr. Paul gets the nomination.

This is very disturbing and should be adressed and rectified immediately.

    Disenfranchised,
    Lynn

      Dec 21, 2011 21:28 PM

You could have just watched the clip Al provided above; that’s where your clip came from.
      Disenfranchised:
      1. Deprive (someone) of the right to vote.
      2. Deprived of power; marginalized.

Are you kidding?! Disenfranchisement is exactly what every American should be used to by now! Ron Paul has been marginalized more than any candidate in modern history. Both parties use democracy in order to disenfranchise one half of society. The one who promises the most, at the expense of those who oppose, wins.
You and the 80 or 90% of Americans who agree with you must not know the difference between a republic and a democracy. In a democracy, 51% of the people can take away the rights of the other 49%. In a republic, which is what America is supposed to be, 99% cannot take away the rights of even 1 person. Red tyrants are no better than blue tyrants, and that’s exactly what everyone on both sides is. It’s funny that everyone is so scared and threatened by someone like RP who comes along and tries to restore things to the way they were INTENDED to be.

        Dec 21, 2011 21:37 PM

No, no,no Matt. Don’t dodge what the just of my comment is.

The facts are that many main stream republican voters will not vote for someone trashing another republican candidate. That is the meat of my comment.

I am not “afraid”, disappointed yes. I have seen the marginalization of Dr. Paul by the MSM and alternative media outlets. I have seen them run to the destructive former Speaker of the House after the Feds Reserve horny goat Herman Cain quit. I can see many looking for someone other than Dr. paul. Why? Is it because of the MSM or other media that will not speak about him? Most have the resources to read or hear what they need to to make a decision on how they will vote. But these voters are not looking to Dr. Paul. There is more to this than just the MSM or marginalization.

So address the meat of my comment.
        Lynn

          Dec 21, 2011 21:54 PM

There’s been no “dodging” on my part. Your comment simply had me wondering “where’s the beef?” I don’t have any problem with what Paul said.

Re: Why? Is it because of the MSM or other media that will not speak about him?

You sure give the sheeple a lot of credit. Exposure, even if it’s negative(!), is all that counts. This is why the old saying “there’s no such thing as bad publicity”.
          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9nOIusbDwI

            Dec 21, 2011 21:02 PM

And when when exposure to Dr. Paul goes main stream to those “sheeple” who watch the Tonight Show, he says Michelle Bachman hates muslims (rascist) and Rick Santorum hates muslims and gays. How does this help the cause? Will Dr. Paul suddenly get more voters on his side now because of this? When Bachman and Santorum are finally out, will their supporters now come to Dr. Paul’s camp?

Do you see where I am going with this? Liberals have been slamming the GOP as the party of the rich, white, racist, fascist party. We do not need this coming from within from another potential candidate whom, by the way, is a viable choice of would-be republican voters whose previous support was with someone else.

            Thanks,
            Lynn

        Dec 21, 2011 21:43 PM

BTW, I did watch the clip above first.

What I posted was what I heard today from Dr. Paul’s most recent appearance on the Tonight Show. Not from nearly 4 years ago. The one I posted is extremely relevant.

        Thanks,
        Lynn

          Dec 21, 2011 21:57 PM

On this, you are absolutely right. I had assumed that Al used the clip that someone had just posted here (and that I watched). My mistake. How embarrassing.

            Dec 21, 2011 21:15 PM

            Matt,

Honestly, when I had seen Big Al’s post the next day after, I had origianlly thought he was talking about Dr.Paul’s recent appearance on the Tonight Show. I was bit disappointed it was not because I simply do not stay up long enough to watch it.

Besides that, I almost never turn the TV on unless its a game or a DVD 😀

            Thanks,
            Lynn
