The above link requires subscription, but to get around that go to google and type in for search “America’s Crisis of Character” and then click the link and the whole article will come up.

        Just thought it might help.

On another couple notes somewhat in fashion with topic, you might want to check out the two reports and links as follows:

China and Russia start joint Naval drill.

Iran and Iraq are forging ties to confront the US. Iraq is even making plans to do research into nuclear energy probably with the help of Iran.

I’ll give you my personal opinion of what is wrong with this Country. I actually believe it holds true for the World.
The majority are without God in their lives. No morals, don’t care what’s right or wrong as long as they are benefited. Impatience, greed, apathy.
You were right about “going to hell” in your statement.
The majority have lost sight of integrity and hope. Many want someone else (the government in most cases) to take care of them. I could go on and on. Parents doing drugs with their kids. I deal with much of this at work. We wonder why so many Youth are “lost”? They haven’t had the proper discipline and upbringing from responsible parents.
I’ll stop for now. I’m beginning to sound like a broken record.
    Blessings to All!

“The majority are without God in their lives. No morals, don’t care what’s right or wrong as long as they are benefited.” – That sounds like a stereotype to me. Does that fit people you know? People I know mostly try to do what they can, most have no idea what is really going on, how we got there, and how to fix it. I do think people have a lot of gods in their lives, just not the true Lord of Hosts.

      Romans 1
21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

        Hi MissiveDuTexas,
Your comment “I do think people have alot of gods in their lives, just not the true Lord of Hosts” is correct.
Having worked with hundreds of forensic psych patients and also troubled adolescents and their families, it became evident that most of them did not have God in their lives. Many did not even believe in God. Many come from very troubled, dysfunctional families and many of the parents are just as troubled.
No, the people I associate with on a social/family basis chose to live a faith based/good deeds lifestyle. None of us are perfect, but when a person has the love of Jesus Christ in their heart, they don’t go out beating, robbing, killing people. They don’t deliberately cheat other people in business. They are filled with a hope for the future, regardless of how bad things get.
Al asked about our opinion as to what was a contributor to the “Crisis of Character” in our Nation. I can only answer with what I have experienced and feel in my heart. I am sorry if it offended you. That was definately not my intention.
        Thanks again,

You did not offend me Jody. I just like to challenge what appears to be, in my view, generalizations that people have by bringing them back close to home and see if they fit. If they don`t, they probably need to be revisited, if not abandoned.

As for character, it seems to me that as soon as Mr. King proclaimed “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”, the establishment put out all the individuals they could find without “good character” in our face and told us “these shall run the show”.

And they do. Nothing about the people in general, as far as I`m concerned, more about those running the show.

You are smack on with your assessment in my opinion — the troubles in this world can be summed up in one simple word: SELF

Not a big shocker that every sin known to man stems from SELF-centeredness — lust, greed, murder, etc.. This is one of the key reasons why I KNOW that biblical Christianity is the one true world religion (it is the ONLY world religion that centers solely on God and what HE DID for us — every other world religion centers on SELF or God plus SELF (works).

    Matthew says:

Here’s an excerpt from Christianity Today, Jan. 6, 1958. Fifty years later, we can see that the author was not wrong:

The existence of unsound money is one of the socially demoralizing factors in any civilization. It deprives the aged, who have long practiced the virtues of industry and thrift, of their proper reward. It discourages the young from exercising their ingenuity, resourcefulness, and industry because they see no way by which they can be rewarded for their efforts. Once it is clear that the intrinsic value of money is compromised, men will turn from savings and insurance and other provision for the future, in order to spend the earnings before purchasing power further declines. The people lose hope in their future. Moral deterioration follows the debasement of the dollar. The government’s weakening of faith in honest currency exacts the costly toll of encouraging a wider range of dishonesty in economic affairs. The moral law flouted at one level weakens regard for the moral law at other levels. Trusted money is a critical concern for any nation that marks its currency, In God we trust. For the distrust of such currency will surely lead to a distrust of God, the end of representative government, and enslavement of people.

Here’s a great quote from Ayn Rand (whatever anyone thinks of her):

Whenever destroyers appear among men, they start by destroying money, for money is men’s protection and the base of a moral existence. Destroyers seize gold and leave to its owners a counterfeit pile of paper. This kills all objective standards and delivers men into the arbitrary power of an arbitrary setter of values. Gold was an objective value, an equivalent of wealth produced. Paper is a mortgage on wealth that does not exist, backed by a gun aimed at those who are expected to produce it. Paper is a check drawn by legal looters upon an account which is not theirs: upon the virtue of the victims. Watch for the day when it bounces, marked: ‘Account Overdrawn.

    And another from Rand:

If you ask me to name the proudest distinction of Americans, I would choose – because it contains all the others – the fact that they were the people who created the phrase “to make money”. No other language or nation has ever used this combination of words before; men have always thought of wealth as a static quantity – to be seized, begged, inherited, shared, looted, or obtained as a favor. Americans were the first to understand that wealth must be created. The phrase “to make money” holds the essence of morality.

Well, quite frankly, that “hill” has turned into a “den of thieves” – as in the new testament – as described by the Lord Jesus Christ. Hey, I am not without fault, but at least I am trying to “fight the good fight”. A lot of people are not. And that’s damn sad. Can we turn this thing around? Absolutely! Hi Al,
Aside from the crumbling family structure, Early American schools taught the moral values from the Bible. Today’s public school system prohibit teaching moral values from the Bible, or even allowing students to pray to a God. Instead they are taught sex education and evolution. The result is America has become a land with much looser morals which is having a negative affect on all sectors of our society. History shows us that when societies become corrupt they begin to come apart and crumble.

When I was young, I heard stories from my Great Grandparents about the times during the mid 19th century here in Oregon. People in those days were scorned when they would take undo risks, because if something went wrong and they got hurt they would be a terrible burden on others in the family. My parents who were born in the first couple decades of the 19th century were not allowed to go skiing because of same reasons, because to their parents and grandparents having fun while taking risk was simply not done.

In those days there was no government safety net should someone fall into trouble for what ever reason. It was the responsibility of their family or relatives who carried the burden. Responsibility was the social contract.

Today the State has replaced the family social contract for responsibility, and when people believe risk is removed they loose the requirements of their own and family members responsibility assuming someone else they don’t even know will take up that responsibility. When the responsibility of personal risk is removed risk rises on everyone else. If that goes long and far enough, the society and nation collapses.

Yout thoughtful question made me think of a post I made in response to Clay of the Weekend Show board.
It also made me think of the 10 planks of the Communist Manifesto. All 10 are designed to destroy the individual at the alter of “The State”. We have entertained the easy way…expensing our individuality, our family and our faith along the way. What Peggy Noonan descibes is not a disease…they are symptoms. For too long we have tried to treat a fever with aspirin…all the while there is an underlying infection that we ignore. We are abandoning a mastepiece….The US Constitution…in favor of community organizing. Here is what I posted on the other board Saturday which I feel fits in this context as well:

“Do we succumb to a normalcy bias for our selfish interests?
Or do we distance ourselves from comfort and possibly our own longevity to embrace freedom as our legacy. Our heirs will not embrace our current selfishness.
For our legacy to have any respect in a free thinking future we must place our own self interest at peril.”

It is easy to see in which culture one resides.
Some try to pretend they do not need to declare…I am neutral….leave me alone….
can we talk about something else….no religion or politics….. there are so many ways to ignore the reality.
There is a culture of good and a culture of evil.
If you choose not to recognize reality you are assisting darkness, death and evil.

    Jed Davis says:

I think the things that were referred to that happen today are the type of things that have always happened. If, for example, you read about what life was like in The Middle Ages, you find that warring tribes were always indiscriminately killing anything and everything in their sight. They had no regard for young life, any life. The difference today is that in spite of relatively greater stability, higher education and democracy, the behavior seems to be getting more extreme as evidenced by the examples. I believe it is because of the pressure many feel for holding a job, making ends meet, providing a safe environment for your child. And I do believe that young people are often more perceptive than those brought up in an earlier generation. Many of the young people I work with today feel a sense of doom, a feeling that there is no way out, that there is no chance for a better life. Contrast that with the way I felt growing up the 60s — Our best days were always ahead of us.
Like many here, we all recognize the problem. But the scary part is that none of us seem to have an answer.

Hi Al and all, have been working quite a bit alot, just haven`t had the time to comment like I wanted to, or just read all the good stuff on this site, like what Al said at the beginning is right on, you guys and gals are really a great bunch of very smart people, my hat is off to you guys/gals. Yes this country has a great deal of godlessness in it. Even the churches have very little in common with the true and one and only son Jesus the Christ Almighty God the living Word of God, there is a void that is wanting in a great any churches in America, though its not so much the fault of the sinners but the fault of those who suppose to be righteous, the Christians. The troubler in this world is the backslidden church, this is the sign on the times. This is the sign on the end of times, the end of the age as fortold in the book of Revelation. The great and terrible day of the Lord Jesus Christ, the great Apostasy, as fortold in Scripture is upon us now. `For the time is come that judgement must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be on them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.(1st Peter 4:17-19) Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man(or woman) draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them that draw back untp perdition: but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. (Hebrews 10:38-39) I could go on and on through Jeremiah chapters 22-23; Ezekiel chapters 33-34 the list is just about endless to show that its the church that is at fault with what is going on with reguard to why the sinners are so out of control. The sinners, they see the church has no real LOVE as God Loved us. Loving the unloveable as He gave us the command for us to Love the world. Not love what they do, but Love them with that unstoppable never ending Love as Christ loved us with through all our faults. The 1st Epistle of John is the Love book. Now I`m as guilty as anyone so I must ask God to forgive me as well…..

He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.(Galatians3:5-9) So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.(Romans 10:17)

D.B. I HOPE I am reading your above post correctly, …..and that we are sharing this together,,,,for understanding

I am aware, You and I are not under the “Mosaic covenant”, unless you are Hebrew
(that is old test,)_ ….and that was before the cross…
Deuteronomy is for the Hebrew, under the “LAW.”…THEY WERE REQUIRED TO
          DO THINGS(BYTHE” LAW”, WORKS,..)
as to what is required of you today
I am not saying that all the bible is not for our benefit and understanding of history,
and the different dispensations…..of which there are five (5)….
IN THE BIBLE during these different time periods….
You are quoting Gal.3….start at Gal 3:1, read it , who was he talking to?and
who was saying it…..I think Paul to the Galacians, who were mixed up…and
          works,law, grace…
          Gal. 5…is a question? faith or works….
Gal.3:11…but, that no man is justified by the law, (who’s law, the jewish law,
which requires the jew to works, (,you do not have to work your way into heaven.)
Gal 3:13..Christ hath redeemed us from the “curse of the law”.(WORKS)
Gal.3:14…THAT the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentile, throught
Jesus Christ..(GRACE)., that we might receive the promise of the Spirit throught faith..(NOT WORKS)
When referring to the blessing of the nations…(jewish nations)if you are speaking
of anything in the old testiment….and all the nations in the old testment were
under the law,(WORKS) which is the commandments, and the sacrafice of animals, and rituals. Even Adam and Eve were under the “law.”..(not to eat..of this tree..)and
was the first dispensation, or time period….
I agree with the faith cometh by ……Romans 10:17 under, who is speaking this
verse, and to who? Is not Paul talking ? Go back to Romans 10:3 and 4,
for they being ingnorant of God’s righgteousness(these are the jews),(GRACE)
and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves
unto the righteousness of God.(the grace thur Jesus)
rm 10:4…for Christ is the end of the “law” for righteousness to every one that
believeth….( if you believe (THUR JESUS CHRIST), you are not under the “law”, and the jews wereunder the “law”.
not gentiles and jews, who accepted Jesus …..this is what I am referring to by “RIGHTLYDIVIDING THE WORD”
The jews were under the “law”(from the beginning),”works”,
and the gentiles(that accepted Jesus), under grace, are save thur
the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ…..(IT was finished at the cross,
the” works” to save you were not required any longer ,it was finished at the cross, no more works… you cannot” work” your way into heaven…period….
all sins were forgiven, past , present, and future,
.IF you try to do works to” work” your way into heaven,. that negates everything GOD
did in SENDING HIS SON TO

MY next question is,, do you think” laying of hands” on a person is works?
Do you think you have or anyone else have that power?(here on earth that is humanly)
          to” perform miracles”….?
Do you think you have the “power to get wealth”.?
          all three are ” WORKS
of which we are not under….we are under grace,by faith alone thur believing..
this is rightly dividing the word… 2 TIM.2:15…
I submit this with respect, as iron sharpening iron….thanks…jerry

Hi Jerry, it seems we have a long way to go with understanding each other concerning what is the authority of the believer in the earth today, and since its the Holy Spirit that`s doing the miracles, not me or anybody in the body of Christ of today. Since 2/3rds of the NT came from the OT. Jesus when he was in the earth operated as a Prophet under the old economy as an old testament rabbi or teacher up until his death, and burial. When Jesus rose again after battling with Satan in hell, then getting back the keys of the kingdom that Satan had obtained from Adam in the Garden of Eden; is this now where the NT begins or at the beginning of your physical Bible begins in Matthew, then Mark, then Luke, then John so on and so forth? To even get from why Jesus came to be here in the first place you need to read the epistles. Paul needed revelation knowledge from the Holy Spirit to write what he did as well as the other Apostles as well for them to write what they wrote. What they wrote in had to be confirmed in the mouth of two or three witnesses to be viewed as cannon. The disciples of Christ had to be filled with the power of God, hence Acts 2:4 in filling, yet when one is saved that`s one step, but what about getting filled with the Holy Spirit baptism, not water baptism. 1. getting saved – born-again 2. usually water baptism, but not every time in that order 3. getting baptised in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives the utterance. Go to Hebrews 6:1-6) Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of BaptismS, and of laying on of hands, and of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened(had had the word preached to them – the gospel), and have tasted of the heavenly gift(been born again), and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost(been baptisted with the Holy Spirit in filling), have tasted the good word of God(have had the Spirit of God given you revelations by the Spirit to your spirit about the deep things of God`s word -eg simlar to very good teaching by anointed ministers of God`s word, except it was the by the Holy Spirit to your spirit eg, when Jesus spoke to Peter concerning `who do men say I am` Peter said one of the prophets` then Jesus said who do you think I am then Peter said thou art the Christ, the son of the living God, then Jesus said to Peter that flesh and blood hath not revealed this to him but by my Spirit hath God revealed this to your Spirit), and had the powers of the world to come(operated in the gifts of the Spirit), If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.< this is the sin that cannot be forgiven. The life of Apostates. To bad we are not near to each other, except to email one another at this site, then to get one`s phone number would be nice. Well perhaps some day this will happen…..

Its like you can use even what other peoples comments on other peoples sites to judge not what the so-called experts are saying but what other people are saying in crowd analysis then its up to you to determine whether you buy or sell a stock.

I read and follow all those voices proclaiming gold/silver’s continuing rise, but I no longer believe that is possible until next year. The “dollar forces” are out in the droves and will do “anything” to salvage the “almighty reserve dollar”. So, the juniors will stay down…even those with good management, money, proven reserves and soforth. If they can force gold down to 1200+/- a few and silver to
21-25, they have won for at least 2 years. The only help for us is to have Europe’s economy to drop into a full recession, while China and BRICS continue to buy the gold supply. Maybe, by that time, there will be value seen in the juniors but not until this happens. Junior’s management doesn’t have the faintest idea how to promote their potential wealth. Good luck and hang in there!

OR we could hit new highs with QE3 this year. I disagree with Martin (UK) saying G at 600 and Silver at 12 of something like that – no way…not with China and India, BRICS in play.

Why do we talk about QE3 is coming?

The Fed bought 61% of our debt in 2011.

The Fed’s balance sheet expansion is QE Whatever # you want to call it.
As the balance sheet expands QE is happening in one form or another.

Do you remember when Clinton and Rubin ‘balanced the budget’.
They did no such thing….they took government longterm debt and refinanced at then relatively low teaser rates.

Today the US refinces the equivalent of its entire debt portfolio in a little over 4 years. We will have plenty of opportunity for QE. They will likely call it something more Orwellian like Austerity Financing.

        Godd luck to you.

I find it interesting how so many people on this site claim to trust in God, when the entire purpose of this site is to encourage people to invest in Gold and Silver. The majority of conversations on this site as well as Al’s audios are about “investing” in gold and silver.
You all need to read Zephaniah 1:18 and Proverbs 11:4. When this system comes to its end, by God’s hand, your gold and silver won’t mean a thing!
Frankly, most of the so-called Christians posting on this site are nothing more than “materialists.”
If you spend all your waking hours discussing gold, silver, investments, etc., how can you possibly say that you are “trusting” in God?
Additionally, if you study the Bible, you’ll find that Jesus never taught, either by word or example, that his followers (Christians) should be involved in politics. Quite the opposite, in fact! Jesus said that “my kingdom is no part of this world” and he also clearly taught his followers that they should be “no part of the world.”
True Christians DO NOT get involved in politics because they know the only solution to the world’s problems is God’s Kingdom, not human governments or human rulers. Read Jeremiah 10:23 and Psalm 146:3.

However, when the world you are “working” in has spun out of control – as thinking, reacting human beings, one of our jobs is to deal in with it by putting God, first;family second and yourself third. How, do you do that? Well pray, stay in touch with the creators and COVER YOUR ___- (CYA) You sound like one of those guys that was on a sinking ship and prayed to the Good LORD to save you. He brought a boat – you refused it; he brought a helicopter – you refused it; he brought a seaplane; again you refused it! You, subsequently passed on. When you got “home” you told the LORD – “I prayed – why didn’t YOU save me?!” The LORD replied: My son, what are you talking about?” I brought you a boat, a helicopter and a plane……..:)

Mike, gold is mentioned 417 times in the bible. Silver, 320. Yet you believe that trust in God means accepting the corrupt and unconstitutional dollar without question? Is it materialistic to take care of yourself and those depending on you? If so, you would be a materialist if you go to work to earn dollars. I really don’t mean to offend, but God isn’t paying anyone’s bills.

    • On April 24, 2012 at 8:35 am,
      castanheiro says:

Wow! Everyone’s responses to Mike’s inaccurate assumptions are fantastic. I agree with all points made, so I am not going to go long here. But, immediately, when someone like Mike begins to lay falacious charges of being ‘materialistc’ or overly enamored with ‘wealth and riches’, against people that he doesn’t even know, I immediately think of the principle of “stewardship”. We are called in the Scripture to be stewards of God’s resources, which is….well,,,, everything. God made everything, planted man on this earth and said, “one of the things I want you to do is “mangage” or “take care of” MY resources”. They are here for us to mine, use, share, and enjoy, etc.. but in a way that Honors HIM as the Creator and Owner of everything. One day, I will stand before HIM and give an account of how well and responsibly I’ve used what HE gave me. I think that is a pretty high and noble resposibility,,,,and so, I’d better take it seriously. So what’s wrong with me or anyone else, studying, learning, researching, and becoming more knowledgable in this task of maximizing the wealth(to whatever degree) that God has placed within my care? What’s wrong with trying to make sure that the 500 + lords of the Potomac in DC, don’t rob me blind, and steal from my future and my children’s future? To allow someone to come into your home and rob you and for you(Mike)to stand there and do nothing is irresponsible and negligent. And yet, that is exactly what you are doing if you are holding ‘fiat paper’!! God says, “he that does not “provide”(and the sense of the word carries with it the idea of protection) for his own family, is worse than an unbeliever.” Mike, I applaud your zeal, but you are sorely illiterate Biblically. Before you go off, half-cocked, and start trying to admonish others, you should gain a more complete and comprehensive understanding of the totality of the Biblical message. I’ve spent the better part of 40 years in the study of God’s Word, been to Bible College, am a son of Missionaries who spent 40 years in the Amazon jungle, translating the Bible into a foreign language and ministering to the Yanomami natives of northern Brazil. My parents gave up all the finer things in life to go take the Word of God to an indigenous people group in the middle of the Amazon jungle. No phone, no lights, no motor cars, NOT a single luxury……and you want to chide me about materialism??? You make a number of completely false assertions in your blog, but quite honestly, I have dealt with so many ignoramuses like you over the years that I am just weary of the nonsense. Go read and study the Bible using a good Hermaneutic study program. There is a science to properly and rightly dividing the Word of Truth. You can’t just pick out verses that seem to bolster your position or beliefs and then throw them out on the table like you were at a smorgasborg. Context is absolutely critical!! Who was doing the talking? To whom was He speaking? What was the problem or issue at the time of the writing? What was the nature of the culture? the language? What about the historical context? the literary context? Mike, you handle God’s Word as if it were as trivial as the “worthless” paper dollars you are championing.
