The government saw this coming but the country is to weak to take the medicine it needs. People like us (who did see this coming) could act independently. What I liked about Dr. Burry’s speech is that he makes a statement of the problem but his focus is not distracted by political finger pointing. This is an American problem. We are all responsible. Also, Day Number 6 – Divergence of Gold vs. S&P (general equities). This is extremely bullish for the yellow metal in the long run.

      Jed,
As usual, you are right on!

Thank you. I hope more and more people continue to see what seems so obvious to us.

      Jun 25, 2012 25:34 PM

Yes, Jed, Day 6. Gold was supposed to be around $1,400 by now…not. We’re almost back to $1,600. And Spain hasn’t even “bitten it” yet.

        Jun 25, 2012 25:12 PM

John: Why is no one seeing this and talking about it. I have been waiting for this since 2003.

        Jun 26, 2012 26:50 AM

I agree with you John W!

    Al
It seems to me that the market is basically run by traders not so much by investors hence the swings in the market based on daily news. It is easy to see why I think the public is basically out of the market. Added to this is the fact that governments including our government are about to come to the end of their string of abusing free market principles. The US government, basically our politicians, is using our system of government via social and economic engineering to further their careers. They have violated the natural laws of economics and laws of nature and natures God. I could say more but you get the drift.

As an investor this presents many challenges but I think long term there are good investments to be had but it is no environment for the weak of heart. One thing I can say if you do nothing you will eventually loose both socially and economically. Again, another good interview.

      Jun 26, 2012 26:51 AM

      Morning Martin,

You are absolutely correct when you say that you cannot violate certain laws indefinitely!

      Best,

To me following this stuff is better than any reality show.
Interesting to me that Ted Butler has found out the manipulation is due to a government order, then we have the lme? moving to asia, also steps being taken to make gold a teir 1 asset. We just had the Syrians shoot down a Turkish fighter, a 104 is actually an old one,an easy target by todays standards, why not a new one? interesting tho as Turkey is part of the U.N. and also Turkey opposes Isreal, strange stuff. So now with a spike in gold, how far will they let it go? or do they hammer it? Interesting to follow.

            Hi Bobby,

There is a section that I get called pending comments. There have been no pending comments for some time now.

I will discuss this with Sarah.

Al’s blog uses WordPress software, which includes some operational features that all WordPress user’s get, whether they want them or not. Things like inserting a bad hyperlink or a combination of two words (such as one ending in “sh” and the next beginning with “it”) will cause it to generate that message. I doubt Al (or Sarah or anyone else) has the time to review those pending posts. Just re-write them..chances are they’ll go through if re-worded.

        John w.
Thanks, i was hoping it was something like that. I though maybe it was the cut and paste of a former post link.

        John w,
yes, that tip seemed to work, now i will not feel bad pushing the envelope or asking too many questions.

        Jun 26, 2012 26:14 AM

        Hi John W,

Actually I have seen no “pending posts” recently.

        Thanks for the help,

        Big Al

        Jun 26, 2012 26:24 AM

That’s another ‘trigger’ Bobby…posting an identical link two or more times, which you might be induced to do because of a sending error of the first post.

Al, I guess you don’t see anything pending as Bobby’s first post probably was corrupted. WordPress is a pretty forgiving platform. Just keep the f-bombs to minimum and you’ll be fine! (joke)

          Jun 26, 2012 26:53 PM

          Thanks John W,

    Hi Al,
Great speech by Dr. Burry. Just had a chance to listen. Yes our leaders should have seen but they did not look nor did they care about the consequences of the rules and regulations that are causing the decline of America. It is time to reboot and start over. Just not sure what kind of America will come out the other end.

      Jun 26, 2012 26:54 AM

      Hi Karen,

Hopefully what comes out the other end will be a better reality.

      Big Al

      Jun 26, 2012 26:53 AM

I think Burry’s speech was excellent too. My first impression is he sounds a lot like us here (i.e. we knew that already). But my second thought was, he made a few million betting the right way. I doubt my starting capital equaled his, but I sure didn’t become part of the 1% based on my bets back in 2006. He also knows how to invest. (and it was funny watching the guy on his left…he looked like he was suffering a bout of food poisoning)

        Jun 26, 2012 26:06 AM

It was a perfect contrast of what is right and what is wrong with intitutionalized learning from 150 year old universities. It reminds me of Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” when the faceless children were falling off the end of the conveyor belt into a metal bin.

          Dan,

I saw the 1920’s classic Metropolis in it’s restored state about a year ago (own the Blu-ray now). Your post reminds me of the workers marching up the pyramid and falling off the edge in mass sacrifice.

            Jun 26, 2012 26:45 AM

I had a good chuckle about the food poisoning;) I think the rainey Calgary June is getting to me.

Come to Phoenix for a week. You’ll dispell any problems with rain (115 F in June…ugh). I’d take a bit of rain right now.

        Jun 26, 2012 26:15 AM

        Hi John W,

My sentiments re: food poisoning exactly!

        Big Al

    Jun 25, 2012 25:13 PM

    Great speech!
From the body language of the Prof. behind him …he was one of which he spoke.

In re the title of the this segment a couple thoughts:

It took a child without pretense to declare reality.
Until the obvious was declared the crowd went along… to carry favor and/or keep their head. Today it will take a similar event from those often ignored speaking truth to arrive at a point from which we all look back and say…”what were we thinking!”

Finally, Hans Christian Anderson wrote in the era of Dickens. Their message needed to be guised. The entire story of “The Emperor’s New Cloths” spoke to the fraud of ntourage of the crown. It may have been softened in its factious setting, but the analogy of the clothier and tailor to the BOE cannot be dismissed. I have always thought Hans wished his head to remain where it was…thus his tale took on the fantasy that was in reality the monetary mayhem of the day,

If we keep on using phrases like “100% right” why don’t we make trades like Burry.

    Jun 26, 2012 26:55 AM

Your comment Dina is definitely 100% right!
