    Big Al,
When the entity is completely BROKE….there is no such thing as a budget…it doesn”t exist in reality. It is just a ruse to keep this “paper ponzi” scheme alive….everything else is JUST noise….got gold and silver/

    BTW, Big AL and Cory,
My comment wasn’t intended to mitigate or “devalue’ your valuable insight…just trying to make a point, that is all. 🙂

Yep, budget is clearly the wrong word. I guess I should have said “economic philosophy”.

It is not just that 51% do not pay tax….a significant portion of those collect a government benefit. Earned Income Tax Credit…Welfare….foodstamps….disability….extended unemplyment…
A significant portion of Americans do not pay tax and the vast majority of them are a net loss because of the welfare state.
If you cannot grasp 1/2 the people do not pay tax…grasp the fact that most of them are takers…on the teet of government…..sucking the makers dry.

      Dennis,
Great point!! We need a president that will remove obstacles so business can grow and create jobs which equals more tax payers not tax takers.

Nice theory, but voodoo economics have not worked in the past and will not work today.

          Bobby,
Every time tax rates have been reduced net government receipts have increased.
          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54jr3Ceu894
It is the increased spending above and beyond the increased tax receipts that adds on to the deficits and therefore the debt.
We do not have a tax problem….we have a spending problem.
As Karen framed it …taxes are 1 obstacle. Regulations are an obstacle.
If we tax income at 1% we are 1% a slave.
The problem is once you are a little a slave politicians have and will increase the restraints.

I get that Dennis, but what candidate is proposing spending less than revenues?

            Aug 25, 2012 25:18 AM

Obviously, Bobby, no one is proposing that!

        Morning again Karen,

Now there is a novel thought!

One small clarification: The question is not which party is correct, but rather which party is less incorrect. I fear that in this election we’re having to choose the lesser of two evils.

      Aug 24, 2012 24:39 PM

Wayne you are so correct. Both parties will spend more that GDP, which does not work in my book. I have heard the comment “we need to vote for the lesser of two evils” from many people that i come in contact with. I refuse to vote for someone just to oust Obama.

      Aug 24, 2012 24:40 PM

there was an excerpt in yahoo finance today stating that Republicans are considering formally studying going back on a gold standard…finally! Sound(er) money.

The Ryan budget is a far better approach than Obama’s which is to keep spending, tax more, and make everyone dependent on the government. If anyone is confused on the Obama agenda, go see the movie coming out this weekend “2016: Obama’s America.”

      Aug 24, 2012 24:03 PM

I am attending a Romney Ryan Event tomorrow morning literally less than 1 mile from my house. I thought it may be a bit of a civics lesson for my kids. It was my wife’s idea.
Ryan at least admits the problem…it seems most of the rest are content to endlessly expand the problem…thinking maybe no one will notice.
Do you remember the expression “sweeping the dirt under the rug”? Eventually we need some spring cleaning.

      Aug 25, 2012 25:55 AM

Surprise, surprise Karen! I don’t believe that it is showing up here.

By the way check out the editorial in today’s WSJ regarding the financial welfare of the American folks since 2008. Surprisingly enough, no one is better off compared to before at least financially!

Aren’t all the tax breaks that benefit many corporations and particular economic sectors also “entitlements”? As conservatives, we need to be fair AND consistent.
We have the best Congress and President that money can buy. As long as corporations are allowed to spend unlimited amounts on high-powered lobbyists and funding political campaigns, nothing is likely to change. (Thank you, Supreme Court!)
I certainly prefer Romney-Ryan over Obama-Biden on the social issues and because I believe abortion-on-demand is intrinsically evil, but I think it would be naive to expect much from a Romney victory, even if the Republicans also got both houses of Congress. MEET THE NEW BOSS, SAME AS THE OLD BOSS!

      Aug 25, 2012 25:09 AM

      Good point.

      Aug 25, 2012 25:04 AM

      Morning again Big E,

I agree with you with one exception and that is I simply cannot support Obama. Maybe the new boss will be the same as the old boss but I am willing to take the chance that this will not be the case.

      We’ll see,

Why are we broke? No one in Congress does their job. Ask Dr Paul…..

Tex, watched the video, nobody reads the bills they pass, guess thats why no time is aloted to read them. I find that hilarious, how can anobody think their government
has the interest of the people in mind? Change with Romney the rich guy from elsalvadorian death squads? Of course it will, Romney is a moral man with the interests of the people top of his list.

    Aug 24, 2012 24:52 PM

No offence, but your are both wrong. The US desperately needs a 3rd party to shake things up.

      Aug 25, 2012 25:54 AM

      P.E.D.C…..brillant!
