Here is an interesting article on potash from Forbes which discusses potash mining in Arizona.

Here is my official notice, again, by the way. I will be purchasing shares in Passport Potash in the very near future, but no sooner than three days from today.

That is a interesting article about Potash. I own Passport Potash, should I be buying
Prospect Global Res. (pgrx) too? No where in the article do they discuss the quality of the product. From what I understand, the Canada Potash is of a higher quality.
It seems the main advantage of Arizona Potash is the ease of mining , location and weather. What about processing The Potash? It seems right now there is a glut of Potash on the market and if BHP builds a giant mine in Sash. what then? I don’t know.
If Arizona can mine it for one third less cost, maybe it won’t matter. GW

There seems to bit of a buzz in the Potash space. This article by Peter Epstein, of Seeking Alpha.com gives Passport Potash high marks for its future potential.

Prospect is a really risky bet in the Holbrook Basin. They may hold 90k acres but its all checker board land holdings which they paid per acre far too much for from the Karlsson Group. Passport originally had a deal with Karlsson but walked away (most likely from the price they wanted) and are better off for it. Prospect now has a mountain of debt and right smack in the middle of their southern holdings are lands controlled by Passport. BHP, WPX, or anyone else won’t be raising the capital (3 billion+) in this market to build a mine in Sask any time soon. Anyone looking to invest in Potash in a very safe country has the better option in Passport Potash with 122k+ acres of solid block land holdings and what one could expect a mine built in the 1-1.5B range.

America seems to be on the new war path of self sustainability in terms of resources and energy, a new potash mine in Arizona would help. The map on http://www.nestedquotes.ca/ is a pretty good way to do some simple DD and see the land ties Passport has with HNZ and the Hopi tribe vs Prospect.

    BIg Al,
Potash investing is a no-brainer investment with skyrocketing food prices and the like…….
Secondly, and on a somewhat similar note, Grant Williams is starting an investment fund, called VALIC…that invests in farmland around the world….might be REAL interesting to hear his take on it.
Finally, it used to be a joke in the early California Gold Rush days THE 49ers – that the only ones that made alll the money were the people and outfits selling picks and shovels to the prospectors………WELL on a similar vein (pun intended) a new ETF is coming out that concentrates on companies that sell all the equipment and products to the actual mining companies….IT IS CALLED…….MINING SERVICES ETF……MSXX…FYI for all “Korelinites” out there…might be another interesting way to play the commodity super cycle we find ourselves in.
    All the best,
    Marc

Marc….are you giving investment advice? The Sherriff of Nothinham(irish)wants your license fee…..

        Nov 29, 2012 29:26 PM

No…I am NOT an investment adviser, Nor do I wish to be one and I, of course, disclose the fact saying that it MIGHT be a way to play this commodity cycle….but, please dont take this as investment advice…it makes me shiver and shake if “you” did…:)

          BTW,
Acclaimed trader Dan Norcini has just reported that the FED will be announcing an extension of Operation Twist and it will be turned into QE 4….Making the total QE over a TRILLION DOLLARS FOR 2013! SOURCE: KWN. Yikes, got GOLD AND SILVER!!

            Nov 29, 2012 29:09 PM

THE FED HAS NOTHING LEFT BUT TO PRINT……..but, the smart money already knows that,,,,,,the numbers are in and they just can’t steal via thur taxation enough for all their mistakes for 100 years…..

    Al:
Have you heard anything more on Passport Potash having a proposal for a 10 to 1 reverse split on the agenda of their annual meeting a week or so ago. I voted against it because they only end up running the little guy out of the company and the hedge funds beat the price back to where it was before the split. The fact the reverse split was even on the agenda is a black eye against management. I will wait for your response if you can find out what is going on. Thanks.

Who is holding back PPI`s stock price or who is manipulating the stock. I have watched this crap for over one year now. I have lost so much retirement savings. I look forward to your insight. Thanks.

      HI Randy,

I really don’t know. Something is not right.

I will certainly keep watching this stock even though the Company is no longer a sponsor on our site.

    Hi Al,

Are there any updates in regards to PPI’s 2013 plans? Why is this stock being held at the 20s cents despite all the good news that came about in late 2012?

      Feb 12, 2013 12:02 PM

      Hi John,

I have not idea what is going on at this point.
