Irwin…….thanks for the post…….she has some great info………..,

She is also on GoldMoney broadcasts today.

I have found it curious that GoldMoney had not had any broadcasts since 12th April for more than 4 weeks, until today. I found it strange that they had this large gap in their broadcasts since just before the crash in gold and silver. I wonder if they have been too worried about the health of their portfolios over the past month!

    From April 2010;

    quote:
“Mack Evans dismissed it at first.

“I almost threw it away,” said Evans, 67, of Diamond. “I had seen a lot of diamonds. I have never seen anything like this.”

    (…)

“What he found was a 4.89-carat diamond that he describes as being about the size of a jellybean, the largest diamond found in Arkansas’ Crater of Diamonds State Park so far this year.

“It almost got away from me,” said Evans.

Thirty years ago I had the great pleasure of attending a Sunday morning service with Mack Evans preaching; – boy howdy! he not putting us to sleep, that’s for sure.

I used to have in my possession a 4-cassette set of Mack’s “Reaping in Recession” which I must have listened to at least ten times. Then I loaned the set out, and I presume it’s still in circulation .. if it hasn’t been worn out. As there always seems to be another recession lurking just over the next rise, knowing how to “Reap in Recession” comes in handy. Perhaps one day that series will appear on YouTube.

Ex-welder turned preacher, Mack retired in 2002 (see Jo Evans’ entry in link posted above), but he sounds healthy again and preaching from the “Sheep Shed”.

    Dear Irwin,

Thanks for your Sunday contributions! At the risk of being charged with overdoing religion on Al site this weekend, I suppose I’m in a reasonable position to offer some sort of response to evangelicals such as Mack Evans. To my mind M.E. typifies what at least from this side of the Pond is your stereotypical U.S. preacher!

First, let me qualify that by saying the good ol U.S of A remains a far more God-fearing country than here in the U.K. Indeed our own godlessness is, to my mind, a direct contributor to our moral and economic decay. That’s an equation that seems like a no-brainer!

But there is one critique of U.S. evangelicalism that I dare to make, namely this:
Satan is too readily ascribed with the title of the devil, whereas in fact his primary role has always been that of a tempter (a ‘satan’ also means an accuser). For if we go back to the story of Job (argued as pre-dating Genesis by many centuries) we have the remarkable account of Job who is put through all his suffering with what appears to be God and Satan striking a deal. In that book Satan submits to the role of acting as God’s emissary, allowing God to retrieve Job after passing his numerous tests of his faith .

Too often I fear Satan gets elevated to that darker role of being called the devil, one of course readily nurtured by the Church. In this other role it becomes so much easier to project personal shortcomings as the fault of the devil, instead of facing them fair and square. Because of this many Christians become what I would call two-dimensional – cardboard cut-outs of virtue. This may be convenient but strikes those in the outside world as non-genuine and fake.

I believe a three dimensional Christianity is vital where believers look at their total being, i.e. light and dark sides alike, so as to offer themselves three dimensionally to God! By owning our dark side, we can so much better deal with our temptations, and accord Satan his rightful place. Satan should NOT be the proverbial ‘scapegoat’ onto whom we off-load those sins we prefer to deny.

Hopefully I’ve not waffled too long here!

    Best wishes, Andrew

Hi Andrew, I would not usually not want to talk of this stuff—–religion, but a little comedy might be in order. Though in times past, relished a good fight, just to do the other guy in. But when I see religion, I think of the movie: Forest Gump, when Forest got in a jam, his friend would say `run Forest run`, with religion its just about the same, as in `Run whoever it is, Run`. As far as ole Job, it was chapter 3 v25, that got the better of Job. @3:25) For the thing which I greatly `feared` is come upon me, and that which I was `afraid` of is come unto me. – Allowing fear to exist in you is the snare that will lead to trouble in this life. Fear is the exact opposite of faith. When fear knocks on your door, when faith answer is there to answer the caller at the door, fear is gone. As is said over into the N.T., 2 Timothy 1:7) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear(cowardice); but of power, and of love, and of a sound(wise discretion) mind. Though an O.T. saint, you were still a sinner, under the law of sin & death, where making a blood sacrifice for sins each and every year, and many times for the same sin continually, upon the promise of a future redemption ie., Christ Jesus his cross, a sacrifice for sin for all time, once & for all. `It is finished`, & now we have 1st John 1:9) If we confess our sins, he is `faithful`and just to forgive us (our) sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. << This is our escape hatch to flee to Jesus the author & finisher of our faith. And when we pray, we have to ask God to forgive us of sin against Him, but we have to ask men/women to forgive us, if possible face to face, other wise God will not forgive us of our sin against Him(God). A little leaven, leaveneth the whole lump. So getting to God is a must, to be in right standing before Him, otherwise we will never be justified in His sight, nor have His blessings upon our lives. Deuteronomy 8:18) But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for (it is) He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He sware unto thy fathers, as (it is) this day. Isaiah 61:1-2) The spirit of the Lord God is upon me(Jesus); because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, …. This was what Jesus preached everywhere 1st of all, where ever he went. Of course the Jews hated him, because they were full of religion(BS), they the Jews thought only God can do & say those things that he did do in their mist. For Jesus operated in all 7 gifts of the spirit, whereas the Jews were self-righteous & prideful unto the sides of the pit……As far as what goes in the UK is probably goes here in the states—religion is every where thats why so many flee when they hear IT, as in dread. Death does this, to recoil from religion, is to recoil from death, for many people. When Jesus went throughout His walks sinners loved him, he was great to be with. He did not judge them, just loved them. Jesus was a party animal so to speak, everybody loved to be with him……..

        May 13, 2013 13:49 AM

Absolutely Dennis, Amen and Hallelujah! Fear IS the opposite of faith.

Re Jesus’ common touch with everyday folk again totally agree. Another example is surely that of Francis of Assissi, of whom it was said he was unquestionably a saint but when among sinners was one of themselves!

I love the paradox of that, and thanks for giving me your take on the matter. Anyway I promise not to overdo the religion in subsequent blogs….only that is if certain parties don’t provoke me to do so!
