Here  is  a very interesting  comment by Hillary Clinton. Of course it is politics, but regardless it is very true and, I believe, inevitable. Click here to read and watch.

Forget the person as I did.

I am saying that it is an interesting statement. That’s all!

      All congress is at fault.

Why should men and post-menopausal women be forced to buy health insurance associated with maternity.
Why should Congress and the president be exempt?
Why should young people be forced to buy anything other than catastrophic coverage?

Scum all of them….Congress, Executive branch and all.

        CFS……..you are correct….and on a roll……..appreciate your comments…..
        Remove them all…………..TERM LIMITS…………..

        Nov 24, 2013 24:58 AM

How can anyone possibly disagree with your comment, CFS?

By the way, we spent yesterday in Healsburg. What a fun little city! A glass of wine at the Oakville Grocery; a visit to Dry Creek Vineyard; and, another visit south of Healsburg to the Kendall Jackson Winery.

Gotta tell you my friend, we really like it down here. Lot’s of what I call “class and character”.

steven is correct………on bill and hilly……..

    Nov 23, 2013 23:22 AM

I spent the last 2 days in DC, no signs of recession there.

    Nov 23, 2013 23:33 AM

    I hear you Bobby.

Kathy and I are currently in Sanoma and absolutely no sign of any recession here either. Restaurants are pretty full and the golf course is pretty full. What can I say other than I have wonder how much of the spending is the result of increasing personal debt. I would bet a lot!

      Nov 23, 2013 23:37 AM

Yes, the upper crust is doing just fine these days. DT

        Nov 23, 2013 23:03 PM

Nah, it is not just the upper crest from what I see, Machine Gun.

sometimes the crust gets burned………..when it stays in the oven to long……..they better know when to get out of the oven or turn down the heat…….

            Nov 24, 2013 24:01 AM

I think, Jerry, that much of what Machine Gun calls the upper crust might be too smart to utilize debt. Not too sure that is the case with others.

Compared with state taxes, income and real estate, eating at restaurants in Sonoma is petty change! Eating at restaurants in Indiana is half the cost for much better steaks too. Just need to tilt the earth so the weather in Indiana is not unbearable.

        Nov 23, 2013 23:05 PM

We spent some time in Greencastle when Sarah was studying and then briefly teaching at DePauw and I definitely agree with you regarding the weather.

Of course I completely agree with you regarding taxes here. Crazy!

lower taxes, allows one to have more free time to travel and enjoy life………..

if you have to work you self to death to pay the extra taxes,,,how, do you enjoy the environment……………Hop on a plane and go where it is hot……anytime you want

De- Americanize, What she should have said is “America needs to lead by example,” and “not do as I say not as I do.” DT

      Nov 23, 2013 23:06 PM

      Can’t disagree Machine Gun

DT….in order..” to lead”. You need to have morals….of which billy and hilly are lacking.

        Nov 24, 2013 24:02 AM

Ambition affects morals in a very interesting way! Rationalization comes into play in a meaningful way!

      Nov 24, 2013 24:02 AM

I think what she means is that those that control the US are de-Americanising America.

        Nov 24, 2013 24:06 AM

I think that you make a good point Matt. I felt that her comments were directed right at the current administration and I think that will be her call in 2016.

        Stop and think about it.

By bringing up the “evil socialist” nature of the administration, she will garner votes from some of the Republicans and she will certainly get democrat’s votes.

    Nov 23, 2013 23:06 PM

First – haven’t I been saying for months the restaurants are full?
Williamsburg Brooklyn is on fire, Saratoga Springs is putting up $600k apartments.
In my neck of the woods high end restaurants and hotels are packed.
    Where have you been?

Again you have two camps here, the doom and gloomers and then cnbc cheerleaders.
The truth is usually in the middle

Regarding Hillary – this is all rhetoric for her 2016 presidential bid
We need to get our act together?

How pathetic. Talk about the hen calling the kettle black.

When will these Clinton’s just go away?

      Nov 23, 2013 23:07 PM

I completely agree with you on all counts.

Thank God we live in Semiahmoo!

Deficit is cut in half – LIE. Why is the debt going up at an increasing rate?
(Deficit appears cut in half by crooked accounting)
Unemployment is going down – LIE. The percentage number of employed is going down while the population is increasing. (Again crooked accounting statistics.
We are fixing the medical system. – LIE. The “fix” will be worse than the broken system. AND the cost will be a millstone that will cripple the US indefinitely.

Change? Yes. But only for the worse.

      Nov 23, 2013 23:08 PM

As I responded to The Greater, I agree with you on all counts.

Hilary said the americans wouldnt default?
Off the top of my head there were 2 defaults called continental defaults,1934 a “bond” default
1971 bretton woods default (rather significant)
and an accidental default in 1979 I believe
should we include the devaluation of currency as a default?
Wonder how many I am forgetting.
kinda funny, the americans would never default, not funny they do that, whats funny is Hilary would say it and people actualy believe it.
People believe anything they are told, life is easier that way I guess.

      We have already defaulted…………to ourselves………….try no jobs,…. no interest income on CDs,….. a socialist govt……bondage to a few………….

        Nov 24, 2013 24:08 AM

Yes Jerry, one could say that we have!

    Nov 23, 2013 23:19 PM

My Dad who was a Farmer and cowboy and bootlegger during prohibition as well as a mule trader during the Depression and yes Al, a Husky as well, traveled worldwide fairly often. I well remember what he told me in 1959 after returning from
a 6 week State Department sponsored trip to Russia and behind the Iron Curtain countries.

We must bring the rest of the World up to our standard of living or fall down to theirs.

      Nov 24, 2013 24:12 AM

      Good point Dai Uy!

On another note, Friday’s game will be a barn burner.

Sark desperately needs the win for the Dawgs to finish 8 and 4 with a shot to end up 9 and 4. 7 and 5 will not do it. And the possibly 7 and 6 will definitely not do it either.

If the Dawgs play the way they did last night, it will be very interesting. I really liked some of the “new” players.

Mike Leach is doing a great job. Moose is definitely not a dummy.

    Nov 23, 2013 23:25 PM

I think your dad was onto somthing Dai. I read articles a couple years ago that were saying the intention of “the powers that be” were to do just that.
Aparently there was a choice to be made, either the worlds standard rises to the west or the west reduces to the level of the east and it was decided to reduce the west was the path of least resistance.

      Nov 23, 2013 23:38 PM

Wait a moment, hasn’t it worked beautifully? The Russians operate the space station, the Chinese blow up satellites, Israel and North Korea have nukes, and the Indians prepare to hide their gold on Mars or so.

        Nov 23, 2013 23:37 PM

Childs play! When those other guys can conjure trillions of dollars out of thin air without even a small hint of inflation breaking out to disicpline the masters then they too will be in the big leagues!

    DG
    Nov 24, 2013 24:03 AM

She and her ilk are the problem. The take away should not be that she is talking about the problem The take away is that she has been actively involved in creating the problem and that as little as two years ago she didn’t acknowledge it, and that now, it takes the Chinese politician to point it out…..
Do you think the problem creator will solve it?
    wtfu.

      Nov 24, 2013 24:14 AM

You gotta admit, DG, it is great politics? (I use the word “great” in a different sense than most would in this case.)

    bj
    Nov 24, 2013 24:23 PM

Maybe under their breath the Chinese are saying, been the, done that. Who better to explain it than Alexis de Tocqueville:

“After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the government then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small, complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence: it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd. “

    Nov 24, 2013 24:34 PM

Thinking about things a little more, I dont know if there really is any problem at all.
As James the lesser has said, and Al, things are booming, great wine, golf courses full,600k apts being built. Inflation isnt happening, we even had some excellent examples of deflation the other day.
Maybe thats why the price of gold is going down, maybe its that simple, things are good and getting better.

Who really cares that a coup de ta happened 50 years ago and we have a facist country? Whats the diferance? Just mentioning it due to the aniversary.

The oil found in N.Dakota? is supposedly enough to reduce the need for almost all if not all imports of oil entirly.
Maybe its time to look for other investments than just doom and gloom PMs.

      Nov 24, 2013 24:06 PM

Yes I agree with you B. The problem with the gold investors philosophy is that it is not a positive bet on the future. It is a faithless investment that seeks to profit on the failures of leadership and in doing so becomes entangled in political hatred. The only course open to people who seek financial advantage in the errors of those who might find solutions for our collective problems is to find all the bad intentions and acts of conspiracy and use them as crutches in their sad case of proving that all is not right with the world. This is why they reap what they sow. As others act with more faith and invest in companies that drive the economy, the gold hoarders cling fast to deep negative views and suspicions of all people and most especially those charged with finding solutions for the collective. They are ungodly from that perspective as their choices are more akin to holding life insurance on their elderly grandmothers than buying educational oportunities for their children. Gold lovers are getting what they deserve.

    Nov 24, 2013 24:52 PM

B: So you like your fascist state run by a dictator? Democracy is dead and th policed state is in full swing…As long as the champagne is flowing I guess all is well.
Things don’t fall when their at the bottom. Debt is worse than ever. Economically things don’t move in a straight line and this is a counter trend that’s normal. There will be a debt crises guaranteed.

Billy, better like it, we have had it since jfk was murdered and its not gonna change.
As Paul Graig Roberts says, anyone that cares enough to inform themselves already knows and the gullible and naive never will.
Besides, people like facism, check the old films of the crowds that went to hear Hitler and Mosulini.
