I think it’s critical we get strong follow through on Thursday.

    Dec 31, 2013 31:48 AM

    Dec 31, 2013 31:51 AM

Very possible…..we are dealing with gold.

    With another possiblity gold catapults
upwards leaving behind those who could
not make up their minds to buy.

    STILL….IF YOUR NOT IN….YOU CAN’T WIN.

Timing the exact entry is impossible IMVHO

      Dec 31, 2013 31:46 PM

      Of course it is Heavy!

Gary does raise an interesting point here, doesn’t he?

    Dec 31, 2013 31:59 AM

No one needs to get left behind. Simply put a buy stop right above 1268 as that would be a higher high.

      har
      Dec 31, 2013 31:01 AM

The resistance above $1210 is massive.

        Dec 31, 2013 31:47 PM

Thanks for stressing that point, har. The days ahead will certainly be interesting if you are a trader. If one buys for the same reasons that I do it really doesn’t matter a whole lot.

      Dec 31, 2013 31:26 AM

Trading Is not that easy. I have 30 years experience in futures and trading stocks.

IN FACT, YOU CAN TRADE YOURSELF VERY QUICKLY TO THE POOR HOUSE

OK….put in a buy stop.now the market has already run up 50 points and your
buying after huge rally and have not made nothin. After such a good size move
chances are very likely a correction on that move …hitting any sell stops.

So you lose money and you try it again. Most likely Mr. Market see’s you comin
and it fails again hitting your stops.

WASH..RINSE….REPEAT…..if trading was that easy why have most of the best
people in the business given it up. Many futures and hedge funds dealing with
      futures are closed up.

AND YOUR TELLING ME MY ANSWER TO BEING SUCCESSFUL IS….BUY STOPS !

Open your books lets see in the last 3 years if you made any money over that
time frame giving me that advise.

PROVE IT GARY ! over 3 years and lets see the success.

        Dec 31, 2013 31:36 AM

I’m not trying to tell you how to day trade. I’m giving you a strategy to get you in and avoid getting left behind if the bear market low is printed.

          Dec 31, 2013 31:44 AM

          There is…..NO WAY

          Thats very losey advise….sorry Gary

YOUR MISSIN BY A LONG SHOT…MAN

            Dec 31, 2013 31:00 PM

Ya Silverman……deceiving others and especially knowing its fraudulent
            Information THATS EVIL WORKS……

I SAY NO MORE….King of Kings will judge. Not me.

          Dec 31, 2013 31:54 AM

GARY….you said no one has to be left behind.

YOUR STRATEGY IS MY ANSWER NOT BEING LEFT BEHIND…..

IS NOT GOING TO WORK……..strategy ??

          Thats outrageous disinformation…..

YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THAT….geeezzz… I certainly can hope

            Dec 31, 2013 31:49 AM

            HEAVYHITTER,

AFTER THE RAPTURE WE WILL SEE WHO IS… LEFT BEHIND.

        Dec 31, 2013 31:24 AM

HH…30 years and your at this forum!?
You have to be kidding. The wealthy guys and the only wealthy guys I know built a real estate portfolio and do not spend any time chatting on the net. More like traveling to holiday destinations.

          Dec 31, 2013 31:33 AM

Hey Dillion…..I just opened up this gold trade…last 10 days.

GET IT……I watched gold fall from its grace for 3 yesrs.

I WAS A BIG TIME BEAR.

I hope that answers your question.

            Dec 31, 2013 31:56 PM

            Heavy,

I don’t pay any attention to people like Dillon.

I and a lot of folks on this site truly appreciate your input. Thank you!

          Dec 31, 2013 31:08 PM

          Thank you …BIG AL……

far from perfect but I do like to maintain honest behavior….

Might add you excel in those characteristics.

          HAPPY NEW YEAR

            Jan 01, 2014 01:54 PM

            Thanks 2HEAVY,

Honest and unemotional is my philosophy!

            HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU!

            Mar 16, 2014 16:00 PM

I do try really hard 2heavy!

      Dec 31, 2013 31:40 AM

A buy stop eh?…..OK Gary. See you next week.

    Dec 31, 2013 31:01 AM

Mining stocks are cutting dividends and doing write downs. Most have (even the big boys) negative earnings. No value.

      Dec 31, 2013 31:03 AM

      Har,
Blood in the streets. Sign of an impending bottom. But it may still be a couple of weeks away.

        har
        Dec 31, 2013 31:04 AM

Why buy a stock that is cutting their dividend? NEM has cut 3 quarters in a row.

          Dec 31, 2013 31:10 AM

If gold gives it all back today – watch out on Thursday.

I am thinking about going short again here but have to travel to Asia on Thursday.

            Dec 31, 2013 31:57 PM

I am not an expert trader, har, but I don’t think I would go short just now!

          Dec 31, 2013 31:37 AM

You buy because markets are forwarding looking and the worst gets priced-in. Take GORO for instance, I sold the last of my shares at just over $23 because I was getting worried about the sustainability of that 6 cent/mo/share dividend. It took awhile, but it was eventually cut to 3 cents. Now trading under $5, GORO has cut the dividend by another 66.6% to just 1 cent. Notice that this time, GORO did not really selloff —despite also announcing Reid’s retirement. The October low has held and volume has been unimpressive. It seems to me that the bad news has caught up with the terrible decline in price. If gold breaks down from here, I would call GORO a strong buy under $3.50 (I am not long or short).

            Dec 31, 2013 31:42 AM

            Precisely….excellent comments Matthew….

Gary suggests buy stops to make money…..

THERE IS NO WAY…..makes it sound so easy.

THATS JUST IT…..ITS FAR FROM EASY

            Dec 31, 2013 31:43 AM

So that is stock buying advice, Matty?

            Dec 31, 2013 31:47 AM

No, Birdie, that’s called an opinion. Next lesson…

            Dec 31, 2013 31:17 AM

You really should express it as an opinon then. If you are a teacher then please tell us all and it will be a lesson. Experts give lessons so I heard. People with little more than an attitude give opinions. Which one is it friend?

Talk about retirement…………how about TURK retiring from his Gold fund company.

            Dec 31, 2013 31:25 AM

You’re confused mi amigo. My opinion on GORO was not a lesson. Informing you that my post constituted an opinion and not advice, was the lesson.

What would be your point if I had said that it was advice? Just curious.

            Dec 31, 2013 31:44 AM

            Ahhh…a lesson in opinions then. How..um …..delightful.

            Dec 31, 2013 31:57 AM

            You’re welcome.

            Dec 31, 2013 31:19 PM

            lessons are for Sunday’s only.

            Dec 31, 2013 31:59 PM

Thanks for the opinion Matthew! Last trade today was $4.56

        Jan 01, 2014 01:55 PM

I do agree with you, Gary, about blood in the streets.

YEAR END CLOSE…………AND GLAD TO PUT THE BOOT TO ’13

      Dec 31, 2013 31:13 PM

That is definitely two of us Jerry!

Now, I am off to play nine in the rain!

    Dec 31, 2013 31:16 AM

At 12:15 EST, the drops from the morning highs are systematically being driven lower and lower. Maybe Gary’s warning may rear its ugly head today.

Thanks for your thoughts Gary and Happy New Year to everyone!

      Dec 31, 2013 31:14 PM

      Interesting Bobby!

    Dec 31, 2013 31:59 AM

Heavyhitter knows what he is talking about. I have extensive experience with commodity trading and can attest to the folly of using buy stops as well as stop losses as a strategy. They work on paper only and not so hot with real trading. Those stops orders become targets for the the thieves to exploit and they will do so every time it is profitable them do so.

      Dec 31, 2013 31:07 AM

Thank you eagleeye…….its very unfortunate even with those who claim to be
Professionals in all industries can lead someone to great financial losses.

When it sounds to good to be true…it always is.

Oh no…..buy stop can keep you in and dont worry.

      UH HUH !!

        Dec 31, 2013 31:21 PM

You guys are in the wrong place if you are looking for advice.

          Jan 01, 2014 01:57 PM

I view the advice here Bobby coming from a lot of rather diverse opinions.

I have never listened to any one single person. To me that makes absolutely no sense!

      Dec 31, 2013 31:15 PM

      Thanks eagleeye,

I, for one, appreciate, your input!

    Dec 31, 2013 31:24 AM

TO : ANY GOLD BULLS THAT ARE LEFT

DO NOT BE SPOOKED OUT OF YOUR POSITIONS

There is a lot of posters here that do not know what

        SD MARK…HAPPY NEW YEAR

Im always looking up. No one prevails in this evil world
and the wise who are full of the world will be made foolish
For eternity in Guyana….the abuso…hades where people
with evil works will suffer forever.

LOOKIN FORWARD TO GETTIN OUT OF HERE.

          Jan 01, 2014 01:59 PM

I agree with all of you on this one!

          God bless you all!

    Dec 31, 2013 31:10 AM

A difference of opinion, that’s what makes horse racing.
Apparently gold and stock trading too!

      Dec 31, 2013 31:16 AM

I don’t AGREE. Betting on horses is one of the highest form of risk.

You don’t own anything…like buying a lotto ticket.

        Dec 31, 2013 31:34 PM

Exactly HH…again! James, comparing the PM market to the horse races in absolutely and thoroughly ridiculous. BE IN….STAY IN……AND WIN.

          Dec 31, 2013 31:47 PM

          Ya ….sd mark…..DO YOU BELIEVE THIS ……

TRYING TO SELL US DOWN THE RIVER

I mean…you dont own nothin betting on a horse.

          HORSE SENSE ! Sorry James

    Dec 31, 2013 31:32 AM

HEAVYHITTER – I have to disagree because I have made my sizable fortune from parimutuel horse race wagering.

First off any good speculator knows the higher the risk the higher the reward.

Second you cannot compare horse racing to lotto.

In horse racing you betting against two things – the house take which needs to be overcome, and the crowd.

By only betting horses that offer value, meaning the horses true odds are percentage wise lower than what the public is making the horse, you can overcome both.

You can have a positive expected value.

By only betting horses that are overlays and only betting when you have an edge you can turn the percentages in your favor.

Lotto is mindless gambling where you have no edge and no value.

Only someone who is not an expert in successful speculation would compare the two.

You also talk about not owning anything. So?

You don’t need to own anything in order to make profit.

You simply always have to have the best of it in any investment.
The choice of investment is strictly a matter of personal preference and knowledge.

It is all the same because human nature and the laws of mathematics are always the same regardless if it is horse racing, poker, gold, stocks…

The sad truth is most people are woefully deficient at successful speculation because they simply have never been taught the right way and don’t possess the required temperament.

There isn’t one in ten thousand that can do what I do because it goes against everything you think you know.

    You need to be reconditioned.

      Dec 31, 2013 31:38 AM

      Sir James……..NO THANK YOU

would never get taken in by you or anyone else.

I KNOW POEPLE WHO LOST EVETYTHING IN THE HORSE BUSINESS
      BETTING ON THE TRACK.

Who the hell do you think your talking to. HUH !

      Jan 01, 2014 01:01 PM

Lot of truth in your comment The Greater.

My only rebuttal is that I don’t buy gold and silver to make a profit as you know. I buy gold and silver instead of sleeping pills!

    Dec 31, 2013 31:45 AM

My fear is the prestidigitation is not soon revealed.
A wise three-card Monte pays the beat cop a cut.
It is not a question of if but it is a question of when.
When the sleight of hand is revealed for what it is who will be left.
It is no fun being a bag holder.
Clutching what is real because you know what is a feint is not.
Can you/we remain solvent until the falsehood of illusion fails?
    It is a good question.
    http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=sleight+of+hand&FORM=VIRE7#view=detail&mid=8ED742ECC55AB443B9868ED742ECC55AB443B986
Until then I would rather hold a heavy bag as compared to a light one.

      Jan 01, 2014 01:02 PM

And yet another great comment Dennis M. I particularly like the point about remaining solvent!

    Dec 31, 2013 31:47 AM

I am not here to take you in. And quite frankly I have no idea who I am talking to. Other than the fact you got by the alias “HEAVY HITTER” which is curious and I think telling.

You know people who lost everything betting at the track ah?

I supped you could say I know people who lost everything betting on ENRON and BERNIE MADOFF and the real estate bubble, and the TECH BUBBLE, need I go on?

    You’re arguement makes no sense.

      Dec 31, 2013 31:55 AM

It does make sense James….unless your raising the horses and
Very well connected….ITS WORSE THAN A SLOT MACHINE

      PLEASE…..I’ll tske CAEZAR’S PALACE…over betting on horses

        Jan 01, 2014 01:06 PM

The only good thing about places like Caesar’s is the free booze!

      Jan 01, 2014 01:06 PM

      Can’t disagree about those crooks.

I will say that many of the victims you refer to are simply a bunch of stupid and greedy people. Don’t you agree?

    Dec 31, 2013 31:52 AM

Happy New Year Big Al! Thanks for all that you do.

      Dec 31, 2013 31:12 PM

      Ditto!

      Jan 01, 2014 01:07 PM

I need to turn that around and repeat, “THANKS FOR ALL EVERYONE ON THIS SITE DOES”!

    Dec 31, 2013 31:04 PM

Horse race betting and winning consistently are conflicting terms. I have never know anyone who could come out ahead over the long term. I will continue to believe that it is nothing more than a gambler’s bet that cannot overcome the house take no matter what ‘system’ is employed. Now, having knowledge of the expected outcome of a ‘rigged’ race is a whole different matter but that never happens in that business. Right?

      Dec 31, 2013 31:26 PM

      just like the juniors.

        Dec 31, 2013 31:39 PM

        GOT GDXJ

          Dec 31, 2013 31:38 PM

          HH,
GDXJ is going to be solid…and some selected juniors..with lots of cash, properties and business model with a verified deposit..:)

            Dec 31, 2013 31:50 PM

Sounds good, sd mark…..lets talk ….when gold gets going
Going to plow some funds into them….small start ups

        Jan 01, 2014 01:08 PM

Just like the juniors Bobby? Right!!!

    Dec 31, 2013 31:12 PM

EXACTLY EAGLEEYE…..misery loves company. Most recently had a friend not talked
To him for 15 years bragging about his casino wins. Later after getting to know him
His life wss in turmoil he lost all of his years working in the casinos but he was trying
to sell me on it. ANYWAY…I KNEW BETTER….knew he was lying from the start.

DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT PEOPLE SAY…SEE IT IN THEIR ACTIONS.

DO NOT TAKE THEIR BAIT !

      Dec 31, 2013 31:43 PM

Geez this is exactly what you said.

      “With another possiblity gold catapults
upwards leaving behind those who could
not make up their minds to buy.”

So if one is afraid of a catapult higher and getting left behind then just buy as soon as gold makes a higher high (aka a buy stop right above 1268).

That prevents you from getting left behind…right?

You didn’t say anything about trying to day trade, you said one might get left behind. I just pointed out that a buy stop that triggers once gold reverses the down trend will prevent one from getting left behind.

Now if what you really meant was that you were trying to day trade or short term trade the initial move off the bottom then no a buy stop at 1268 will not solve that problem…but then that isn’t what you said.

        Dec 31, 2013 31:26 PM

GARY…tell me where all the money is made using stops.

If it were true you wouldnt spend your time here.

Most traders lose their money….STOPS DONT WORK

GIVE IT UP…..GARY…..not going to save me any pain
With a buy stop. The market will correct soaring 50
Points more than likely. If I run without a sell stop
Im still faced with maybe bigger and fatter paper
losses than if I bought at 1200. Besides im in the
        miners.

          Dec 31, 2013 31:54 PM

GARY….its difficult but maybe you should be more specific suggesting
          anything.

IF GOLD GAPPED UP $100 …..YOU WOULD BE LEFT BEHIND. If I had your
Buy stop in there is no way having a sell stop without it getting hit after
That run. SO I WOULD PROBABLY HAVE TO SUFFER A LOT OF PAPER
LOSSES using no sell stop because it could correct down 45 bucks.

NO THANKS I WOULD BUY NOW.AT 1200 probably make a lot more
          Money and less suffering.

            Dec 31, 2013 31:59 PM

Even a gap up of 70 be left behind. Its gold and could easily happen.

            70 is nothing.

        Jan 01, 2014 01:59 AM

I just think you have to buy now as when it gets up to the 1260’s it could correct down significantly.

          Jan 01, 2014 01:55 AM

EXACTLY PAUL….THANK YOU….64 POINTS IS A LONG WAY UP TO GET IN.

          NOTHIN BUT LOSSES

      Jan 01, 2014 01:09 PM

Observations of actions is really the key, Heavy!

    Dec 31, 2013 31:19 PM

rapture, king of kings … oops, sorry, thought this was a site for amassing material wealth .. guess I’m in the wrong place

      Dec 31, 2013 31:24 PM

No Bruce wealth is corrupt unless its used for good.

The Gospel is the good news…..its not here in a deceitful world.

        Dec 31, 2013 31:39 PM

Yes, HH absolutely…real money is a tool….a way to serve God through supporting your family, friends and those in need!

          Dec 31, 2013 31:54 PM

Yes…sd mark…you wont keep your money and it will
Make you misersble person….its all in giving.

I HAVE TO LIVE BY IT. Stay disaplined or else it will be
          Tsken away.

        Dec 31, 2013 31:44 PM

HEAVYHITTER, very glad you spoke up on all these issues and support it 100%.
Buy stops, like you said, do not work.

Are you using 2HEAVYHITTER also or is that someone else ????

          Dec 31, 2013 31:00 PM

Hey Fred…I hit the wrong key and 2 got in there by accident.

Anyway Fred….stops donot work….just more snake oil.

If I buy futures or a stock..ETF….it better be historically very
Cheap. I do not chase trades. Its needs to be very exceptional
And cheap…..comes once every 3 to 5 years.

Not really Bruce. Wealth comes in many forms!

    Dec 31, 2013 31:40 PM

well HH, agree on money is not evil in itself

not sure I believe in the so-called Gospel though .. talk about disinfo, misinfo, designed to enslave humans under bondage to 2nd hand belief or assumption rather than using ones own hard-won/earned knowledge, wisdom born of learned practical experience & logic to ascertain what the truth is for oneself, by oneself

I do not trust the socalled religious texts of this world .. imo, they have been altered by humans who were interested in power, money, and not for the good

      Dec 31, 2013 31:48 PM

Bruce…I feel ya….Gods Word says there are many false prophets and believers.
They come in to you as wolves in sheeps clothing. They are in the church…its
      really bad.

I know Gods Word and know who is trying to deceive me. We have a creator
      Because our bodies where designed.

      NO QUESTION ABOUT IT

        Mar 16, 2014 16:59 PM

I am on your side 2heavy!

      Dec 31, 2013 31:54 PM

      BRUCE,

DON’T BE NEGATIVE ON THE WORD OF GOD. GOD MIGHT BE KNOCKING ON YOUR HEARTS DOOR. OPEN YOUR BIBLE TO THE BOOK OF JOHN AND READ IT . IT’S FOR YOU.

GOD IS TRUTH AND EVERY MAN A LIER.

JESUS CHRIST SAID, I ‘AM THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE.

SO READ THE BOOK TO GET THE TRUTH, IN A LOST WORLD.

BRUCE, around here your fighting a loseing battle. The other day I mentioned I couldnt understand putting responsibility somewhere other than on oneself and it caused a “kafuffle”.

Its all good tho, liberty and all. But I doubt your gonna change anyones thinking, evidence to the contrary of beliefs that are not in a persons “books” are generally not considered when it comes to religion. Not in the west anyway.

I do agree with you Bruce, altho I believe Jesus told the truth did so to enlighten etc etc, I also think that the “religions” twist things for their profit.

Like George Carlin says, “He is all knowing, all powerful, but somehow just cant handle money, and he always needs a little more”

Merry Christmas Happy Holidays Happy Hanuka,Festiva Quansa and any other I forgot and happy new year too.

        Jan 01, 2014 01:16 PM

        b,

I really appreciate reading this particular comment. Thank you!

      Jan 01, 2014 01:13 PM

      Thanks for the comment Bruce.

I read the Bible daily and find a lot of fundamental truth in it. I am also a part of an organization called Just Faith. I also find a lot of truth in that. (www.justfaith.org)

Your comments about some of organized religion are also something that I agree with.

It’s all about free will, man!

The $CDNX has settled the year above the 55 day moving average and, by a hair, the 34 week ma. Gold recaptured $1200. It’s a start… maybe.

MATTHEW…..really appreciate the input. I guess cross our fingers
This fork in the road looks bumpy.

Unfortunately……this fork is where a lot of money gets made.

      YOU HAVE TO BE BOLD……

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU MATTHEW

      Dec 31, 2013 31:29 PM

      Hi, Matthew
agree — it might be a start. there have been several instances now, in which you’ve had intraday turn-arounds and days in which the stocks acted better than the metal.

it reminds me of the bottoming action I’ve seen over the years, in other sectors. As I look at a lot of mining stocks, most of them are off there lows and have either been in tiny uptrends or consolidating sideways, with the metal still sloppy. So would not surprised to at least see an intermediate move higher.

      Have a good Holiday!

I am not going to disparage anyone but I find Gary Savage interesting, he speaks his mind and I believe he brings a different viewpoint, I like to think of it as technical fundamentals and I am glad Al has included him.

You need to be diversified in your holdings and that includes listening to people who are not like minded.DT

      Jan 01, 2014 01:19 PM

      Thanks Machine Gun.

By the way, we are looking forward to meeting you in March in Toranto!

    Dec 31, 2013 31:35 PM

You need to ask Gary if he ever has a long core position or if he is just trading 100% of his position. Even folks like David Morgan hold a core position and only trade a part of that.

      Dec 31, 2013 31:47 PM

Hi Michael, I don’t feel like I need to ask him anything because I always decide for myself. DT

    Dec 31, 2013 31:05 PM

I will tell you what I sure see and hear mountains of BS out there, and I am not painting anyone particular but almost everyone. What this tells me is that the Federal Reserve people for what ever they are worth DON’T know what they are doing and that includes world Governments.

Regardless, it boils down to trust no-one and trust only that which you can feel, eat, drink and be comfortable with.

      Dec 31, 2013 31:20 PM

But Clay…you can only trust Gods Word.

      Thats just it….ITS ALL CORRUPT.

well, yes .. she seems to be well disciplined – sometimes.
I listen to Annie for her music, not to see if she can do a Mylie impersonation.

    Dec 31, 2013 31:36 PM

Hi, I listen everyday but seldom post. Any opinions on the 10yr treasury? It seems to me that if it keeps going up, it will really hurt any interest rate sensitive market like real estate, automotive loans or business loans. In the last year, the ten year has almost doubled. As an example, if you were buying a house, it has really become 50% more expensive in one year when you take the cost to carry and the average home appreciation (approx 15% ?) in to account. It is hard to see if the 10 yr and interest rates keep going up how it won’t soon effect the broader markets.

    http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=%24UST10Y

This should cause risk off and should put a floor (as if we didn’t have on already) in the gold price.

    Jan 01, 2014 01:19 AM

    Happy New Year everyone!

Where’s the Birdman gone? One moment he seems to be chirping away merrily and then he goes silent and leaves me feeling concerned! Of course he slagged me off something terrible earlier in 2013 but I find the guy strangely loveable even as, from time to time, he appears to find me half decent!!

Anyway here we are in 2014 at least over here. Bruised, battered and bewildered following 2013….licking our wounds in the hope that we can lick our chops for what lies ahead, at least in terms of gold. But will I look more of a fool than my PM portfolio already makes obvious? Much as I admire the technical analysis that others display I’m reminded of the old adage that ‘ he who knows that he does not is never a fool’.

What we’d probably all agree on is that 2014 stands to be a whole lot hairier than last year. Quite apart from 50 million US citizens being on food stamps here we have 4.5 million Brits (1 in 6) with £10 or less to show at the end of each month, and where as of today 50,000 Romanians and Bulgarians (bless them) intend coming to these shores to get wages ten times what they get back home. Or will France help breakup the EU, which seems to be the prevailing wish of many Europeans now? Then there’s Janet Yellen doing something at the Fed, which in former PM Gordon Brown’s view will precipitate a global stock market crash. Or what of Saudi Arabia and the U.S who are no longer buddies – remotely? If the petro-dollar tanks, or China sells her bonds what then is to happen to Bob Moriarty’s toilet paper currency? As for Syria, she stands to become more of a hell-hole even as the West assists the terrorists there. The ironies are unconscionable considering the recent drone attack in Yemen which took out a party of fifteen going to a wedding, mistaking them for al Qaeda. As for Israel she assisted by Saudi Arabia has vowed to take out Iran’s centrifuges, just as the West now gives Iran the nod to proceed enriching 60% of its uranium. Or what of those Japanese F 35s flying wingtip to wingtip with Chinese warplanes over those mineral rich rocks in the Chinese sea?Any single act of folly could like the assassination of the heir to the Austrian throne a hundred years back trigger off WW 3.

As for those end-timers – be they Christian, Jewish or Muslim, they’re are all having a field-day, treating the imminent future or our world’s demise as a slam-dunk. The precursor to all this – the False Prophet or Twelfth Mahdi might well appear in Iran. Until recently deposed President Ahmadininjad had assumed the role. Anyway after whoever anoints himself with the tile, the antichrist will follow and set himself up in Jerusalem. And only then will the Jewish messiah understood by Christians as our Lord himself make His return. AT LEAST THOSE ARE SOME OF THE THOUGHTS PROCESSES BEHIND HOW THE FUNDAMENTALISTS SEE IT!

I’m not a fundamentalist, even if there seems to be so much to support the belief that we live in the end times. But what I am in these heart-rendingly tragic times is a man who puts his faith in Christ. Others have their own faith/philosophy, or feel so overwhelmed by cynicism that they can’t believe in any sort of God.

If it’s any help I feel as cynical as so many others. My own Church of England seems to waft along on a sea of platitudes and word-games, sleepwalking while never consciously walking the walk. People who are lukewarm never cut the mustard for me. That’s why there are many on this site who help me, simply because you’re not brain-dead!.

So, even if 2014 turns out to be a roller-coaster ride, Peace to Al and his team and to one and all on this site, Andrew

      Jan 01, 2014 01:16 AM

Hey Andrew…you sure did a magnificent job covering everything we could
be faced with in the future. Hitting on most of the main points where we stand.
I sure could add to it but like with technology that is now moving forward at
light speed is going to work against mankind and its getting really scary. I
believe the mark of the beast is not too far off now. Anyway, HAPPY NEW
YEAR. You wrote some great stuff. Sums it up nicely.

    Jan 01, 2014 01:33 AM

He who knows that he does not is never a fool.
    I like that.
Things look pretty scary alright, to those that watch whats going on. Ignorance is bliss of course. I envy that really.
Anyway, we have had many scary times in the past that must have looked like the end was near, here comes the rapture etc etc.
    Never happened.
My opinion, not that it means anything, is life will go on from here too. People will blunder thru until things get readjusted and we creat more issues for ourselves to deal with.

Andrew, you neglected a little forward looking news, the # of people requesting to go and colonise Mars has been narrowed from 200,000 to 1058 I believe.
We are going into space, we will continue to expand, creation, everlasting expanding conciousness.
Where have I heard that before? lol.
    Merry Christmas Happy New Year,
Your posts as well as many other have been a pleasure this past 2013. I look forward to 2014.

    Jan 01, 2014 01:35 AM

Thankyou b. I think I agree with you. Sadly people will always die prematurely in droves and nature has its own sure-fire ways of initiating culls of its own. But silly me for leaving out the Mars tourists, or should one say the C21st equivalent of those Tower of Babel merchants?!

And every good wish to you too for 2014. A

    Jan 01, 2014 01:42 AM

One thing that is certain, we are living in a distinct era of American history and indeed that of the world. The times we are living through now are much like the 1920’s which saw unprecedented prosperity followed by a great crash that culminated in the 1930’s depression.

The big question for us all is have we got better at handling our economic problems through micro management aka “The Fed”, or is all this leveling just forestalling the inevitable, a much bigger correction then if the economy had been left to fix itself.

We will almost certainly carve a new stream but much of what the future holds is written in the past. DT

-unrelated to anything above .. I just came across this today.

    I’ve often wondered why it is that some Christians I know are such sour-pusses; if what they believe is true, shouldn’t they be the happiest people on earth? This short sentence explains a lot;

“I believe the holier a man becomes, the more he mourns over the unholiness which remains in him”.
    ~Charles Spurgeon

    Jan 02, 2014 02:37 AM

I agree Irwin – there’s a paradox between those gloomoid sour-pusses and the need to go on working out one’s salvation with fear and trembling. But nor do I fully agree with Spurgeon since we’re saved by grace (Hallelujah) rather than on any endless navel gazing over how much better we ought to be!

    Have a joy-filled 2014! A

      Jan 02, 2014 02:06 AM

      Thanks Andrew
-wishing you health & happy in 2014 as well.

Joy comes in the morning – or is that mourning? 🙂

Did Gold bottom this week, or will Gold longs continue to take it in the bottom?
