Vitamin D is so important to allow you to synthesize many nutrients, The Omega supplements found in fish can be derived from a number of super foods, I don’t like fish because if you test people who have eaten a lot they find high levels of mercury but your interview talks about that. Vitamin “C” is also a biggie as is vitamin K2, and minerals such as manganese, magnesium, zinc, and foliate. There are some super foods that provide a lot of missing ingredients such as Hemp Hearts, one good way to address these issues is through reading Dr. Mercola’s articles. You can go on and on but you must start with the right source. DT

This topic is just the tip of the ice burg lettuce ………..

I`ll 2nd that Fred, that`s a big Ditto. And what`s causing alot of violence across the country isn`t guns, but from people usually coming down from off taking certain anti-depressants, and from people using anti-depressants instead of eating those foods/& taking vitamins that your friend/guest has said so should be taken. – – Doctor`s and pill pushers are pretty much the same thing. The AMA hasn`t indorsed taking Vitamins or eating foods, but instead pushed drugs as the cure all. – – Why of course are we/& before the British a hundred years in Afganistan, but to control the poppy fields that are grown there.

DENNIS…………remember who helps print and advertise in the journals…………the big pharma………….Lilly, Merck,,,

People need to be responsible for their lives and living conditions….not govt or health consultants…………

This guy needs a “making forward looking statement disclaimer”.
Selling a diet and selling a junior mining stock have a lot common.

UNLESS there is documented a deficiency (vit D, etc.) the only benefit from supplements is to the company that manufactures and sells them. For example, the masses have been convinced that Vit C supplementation is ‘good’. If fact, vit C supplements block the cardiovascular benefits of exercise by quenching the superoxide burst generated by exercising skeletal muscle. WIthout a superoxide burst the Nrf2-KEAP1-ARE pathway is not activated….so no benefits. Indeed, the burst is requisite for adding muscle mass while exercising….take additional vit C….less muscle mass induction by exercise.

Omega 3 FA’s give benefits through activating the same Nrf2-KEAP1-ARE pathway. The Nrf2-KEAP1-ARE pathway is also the real way that statins convey benefit (ever wonder why statins appear to have a protective against Alzheimers?…not via cholesterol!).

What does extend healthspan? Eating less and exercising more…..and perhaps rapamycin, but that is for another rant.

Finally, ‘correlation’ does not prove ‘causation’. Proposing studies that seek ‘correlation’ will not get you NIH-funded, but seeking and proving ‘causation’ might (albeit with NIH now being able to fund only 1 in 10 grants, medical knowledge/science is stagnating).
