By every level the logic of the situation has become more perilous than ever. If you see inflation as being serious is the level of margin much more serious now. The speculative memory is short all I am saying is the higher they go the harder they fall.

    Why?…..

Today, June 2, Ecuador announced that they lent 14 tonnes of gold “for liquidity” purposes to Goldman Sachs. The contract is for 3 years upon which Goldman must return the gold.
    Good luck in 3 years!

      Jun 02, 2014 02:32 PM

      CFS,
I’m sure that paper receipt is worth its weight in gold !!…LOL.

maybe Ecuador lending their gold has something to do with them legalising pot.

The ECB has finally found a way to empty the banks.
There is not enough physically printed money for the coming bank run if this passes.

SILVER TREASURE to be awarded to the SPANISH GOVT. The courts decided the silver bullion discovered by the treasure hunters found in the Atlantic , at extreme depths, was the property of the Spanish Govt. , I THINK the US COURTS decided this. There was a considerable amount, I think in the Billions……..just in time for the KING TO RETIRE.

      Jun 02, 2014 02:54 PM

I believe American law says if treasure trove is found within coastal waters 20% to state, 80% to finders, who will pay capital gains tax at sale. Most wrecks occur by hitting rocks or by overturning due to wind variations caused by proximity to land.

        Jun 02, 2014 02:58 PM

I think , that is ordinary, but, the report I heard this morning, gave a different picture, and the bulk was going to Spain, if not all …..I thought it was out of line , I have been following Mel Fisher’s group since the ’80, and this report just seemed odd.

          Jun 02, 2014 02:19 PM

And that is why if you find sunken treasure you should just shut up about it like it never happened.

The new EPA regulations will do nothing to clean the air or the water. It will just cost more money.

The EPA needs to be closed down.

I wondered at the time if that deployment might cause a reaction in the gold price, but nope.
Its possible these have been nuclear armed for some time and they just now announce it for some political purpose.
If they intended to use them I kinda doubt they would tell anyone they were there.

To me, the undiscovered Russian nuclear subs in the gulf of Meixco, only revealing themselves due to storms were scarier.

Another point, it will be a little more difficult now for Isreal to deny their nuclear armaments.

If the general market is a leading indicator for the economy, then it should indeed collapse; for it is clear that by tyrannical edict our president is determined to degrow, to use a european term, the economy.

Considering that even German publication Spiegel is now reporting that that “Vladimir Putin has won the propaganda war over Ukraine and the West is divided”, western coverage of the Ukraine civil war has pretty much ground to a halt, However sporadic fighting continues.

Since Obama has unilaterally waived, delayed or altered various parts of Obamacare, I wonder whether under an audit for taxes, for example, the I.R.S. will follow the actual law or Obama’s edicts?

This week, as the town prepares to elect a member of Parliament in a bye-election, UKIP leader Nigel Farage is working hard to get its first MP in the UK parliament. Going to be close.

Im probably ignorant about this, but the market continues to go up due to fed buying.
Why does it have to stop going up?
Supposedly, a share is part ownership of a company, no?
So, why cant the fed continue buying shares until they own a majority?
Even if they just print the paper and the paper devalues, they would still end up owning the company.
Seeing it two ways, like Buffet getting out of cash and moving to hard asset with the railroad, or a move to socialism as the fed or government ends up owning the companies.
Im missing something, can someone let me know what it is?

        Jun 03, 2014 03:44 AM

bb…….I think your point is well taken, since, the FED is doing it anyway. I brought up a point the other day concerning the” Excess Reserves” the banks now have on their balance sheet in the amount of $2.3 Trillion, of which the Fed. does not want out in the market place. But,,,,What would happen if the Fed makes a deal with the TBTF banks concerning these EXCESS RESERVES , and tell the TBTF, to start propping up the Stock market buy purchasing stocks?

          bb
          Jun 03, 2014 03:14 AM

Well, I guess if they wernt trading shares the market would stop once they owned everything.
Im sure whatever it is Im not seeing is simple.

Interesting that 2.3 trillion, negative interest rates are being considered as well to increase velocity.

On gold, Fitts predicts, “It’s weak right now, it hasn’t found its bottom. If we don’t find a bottom soon, we could see a really big drop. . . . Long term, it’s going to be healthy for gold and silver.”

Im not changing my guess, at about $1000 the Chinese increase buying substantialy.
I think they will defend the price at that point.

      Jun 03, 2014 03:43 AM

Everyone always assumes that the Chinese and/or Indians will buy gold and silver.
Maybe it is time to look at it realistically, they can’t afford it now, they won’t be able to afford it lower.

    Jun 03, 2014 03:28 AM

    I don’t think we’ll get to $1000 ?

…& I’m one of the most bearish on this site I think.

we might pop up this week…wouldn’t surprise me at all.
But I still think we’ll retest Dec. Lows.

So I’ll start buying more physical & mining stocks when we hit 1180…then buy weekly after that…then I’ll be one of the Bulls on this site for a change !!!

…but if it drops to 1000 or below…well I’ll be kicking myself.

    Jun 03, 2014 03:20 AM

Except for killing the gold and silver traders a nuclear war would not jack up the official price of metal. There may indeed be no buyers, sellers or market and no way to buy as the official currencies will no longer exist electronicly and most paper currency if it exists will be bum wad for the survivors if any. It take the basics of civilization to make markets possible and we barely have civilization now. If a nuke fight occurs it will be back to the stone age for the survivors.

Readers will ask me, “What can we do?” This is what you can do. You can shut down the Ministry of Propaganda by turning off Fox News, CNN, the BBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, by ceasing to read the New York Times, the Washington Post, the LA Times. Simply exit the official media. Do not believe one word that the government says. Do not vote. Realize that evil is concentrated in Washington. In the 21st century Washington has destroyed in whole or part seven countries. Millions of peoples murdered, maimed, displaced, and Washington has shown no remorse whatsoever. Neither have the “christian” churches. The devastation that Washington has inflicted is portrayed as a great success. Washington prevailed.

Washington is determined to prevail, and the evil that Washington represents is leading the world to destruction

Paul Craig Roberts figures we are just plain dead.
If nuclear war happens I agree with him.
At least he has an idea as to what to do about it.

    Gary,

It appears Gold touched 1241.90 this morning. Who knows what 8 am smash will bring. I assume this pushes cycle rebound out another day ? Wednesday at best?

    Thanks

      Jun 03, 2014 03:39 AM

Gold has to at least form a swing low before we can get the cycle bottom. I’m hoping it will hold off till Thursday evening. At that point I think one could buy heavily at the close as the cycle bottom should then form on the employment report sometime Friday.

        Jun 03, 2014 03:32 PM

Swing low? With a somersault and a double banana split. Don’t forget the corkscrew and the zig-zag for good effect. Then a few chin-us and a big lift off with a coil spring and we should be ready to rumble. Or not.

    Jun 03, 2014 03:11 AM

Yuan…….getting ready to clear in London ,another problem for the dollar.
…. and China imports more gold……….(Sinclair June 2)

    Jun 03, 2014 03:33 AM

There might be a crash but it is not now and it might happen at much higher level. We have more chance of run-away stock market while money printing is rampant.

    Jun 03, 2014 03:29 AM

Everyone thinks the market is going to pullback or crash. Too bearish out there, won’t happen at the moment I don’t think. I quite frankly don’t care if the market goes up or down as long as it does something so that we can make some dough. This low volatility sideways grind higher is killing my income.

      Jun 03, 2014 03:07 AM

I feel there should be meaningful correction in the summer though. It has been so long without one and it becomes ridiculous. But I don’t think it will be a market crash which is deep and last long time.
