If I can add I would just say that watching today’s action I noticed that on the move up from gold the miners refused to go with it. This is only read by a good trained eye and i have been watching my miners in my portfolio and there saying we don’t want to go up with you.

I might add that I do plan on purchasing some of the gold metal next week. Also, I started nibbling on some stocks today even though I planned on waiting until next week. Next week should be an interesting week. In fact the rest of the month should be interesting from a drifting month for the PMs. What’s very important is that the weekly bollinger bands will be narrowing considerable for the PMs and certain stocks. Something will then give.

I share all of your thoughts as regards the ratio—-currently the charts don’t point to a ratio that high. Of course that could change. If the metals act like I think they will next week, I’m ready to take the plunge into the deep water. If the markets move against me technically I’ll come to the surface rapidly and get to shore as fast as I can swim. All the technicals are lining up and I believe the odds are that we break higher.

Gold:silver is overbought and at resistance right now, so I don’t think it has much (if any) higher to go.

The miners are definitely not making a strong move upward but a lot of the mid tier and quality juniors are hanging in there. I see most of these continue to be very range bound.
As for the 80+ gold/silver ratio that is very high!! I like the forward call however.

In a market controlled by insiders who dictate prices through paper trading does any of these price movements really mean anything? I seriously doubt it. At best the price is only good for buying providing that one can take delivery. It very well could be that civilization as we know it must end before having the metals or even investing does investors any good at all.

It is the currency that many invest into / hold in bullion and/or jewellery forms so it is essential.
In Europe/North America it is a speculation and that was designed and is supported by those that rule with fiat.

The general market is about to turn up soon so that will not help gold but the Russian situation could go on for a very long time as I can’t see a quick resolution and that will provide a floor for gold. Then there is war in Israel as well as Iraq.
I disagree that the final move up for stocks will be bad for gold. As the Dow jumped 13% from the middle of August, 2007, to early Octobober, 2007, GDX surged 48% in the same two month span. This is an apple-to-apples comparison since that Dow top was a big cyclical peak (and the most recent one) just like the one we are witnessing now.
The Israeli situation might be the most dangerous of them all as the Jews in general and Israelis in particular think they can do anything and get away with it. They attacked America many times and were rewarded for it. The Lavon affair, The attack on the USS Liberty, 911 plus all the financial stuff, covert ops and hijacking of the US government.
