The obtuse nature of the English language makes your headline grammatically acceptable, Al. As an article, “the” may or may not be bound to the word that follows it, especially when “the” is the first word in the sentence.

So, what is the deal? US economic data fantastic: GDP up to 4.2%, Jobless Claims Remain at 248K, pending home sales rise 3.3%. And GOLD rising !!! Something is going wrong here… Or is just me?
