OBAMA CALLS FOR DISMANTLING IS ‘NETWORK OF DEATH’

Big Al
September 24, 2014

Let’s give credit where credit is due. If I understand this correctly, I have to support this action by the President.

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Declaring the world at a “crossroads between war and peace,” President Barack Obama vowed Wednesday to lead a coalition to dismantle the Islamic State militant group’s “network of death” that has wreaked havoc in the Middle East and drawn the U.S. back into military action in the region.

Speaking to the annual gathering of the United Nations General Assembly, Obama said the U.S. would be a “respectful and constructive partner” in confronting the militants through force. But he also implored Middle Eastern nations to take the lead in addressing the conditions that have sparked the rise of extremists, including cutting off funding to terror groups.

“Ultimately, the task of rejecting sectarianism and extremism is a generational task — a task for the people of the Middle East themselves,” Obama said. “No external power can bring about a transformation of hearts and minds.”

The president’s remarks came against the backdrop of an expanded U.S. military campaign against the Islamic State group, with airstrikes now hitting targets in both Iraq and Syria. A coalition of five Arab nations joined the U.S. this week in the strikes in Syria: Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

The U.S. also opened another military front with airstrikes this week against a new al-Qaida cell that the Pentagon said was “nearing the execution phase” of a direct attack on the U.S. or Europe.

The threats have drawn Obama back into conflicts in the Middle East that he has long sought to avoid, particularly in Syria, which is mired in a bloody three-year civil war. It’s a striking shift for a president who just months ago appeared to be on track to fulfill his pledge to end the U.S.-led wars he inherited in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Yet the militant threat in the Middle East is just one in a series of global crises that have tested Obama this year. Russia has repeatedly flouted warning from the U.S. and Europe to stop its threatening moves in Ukraine. And leaders in West Africa have criticized Obama for not doing more to help combat an Ebola outbreak that is believed to have infected more than 5,800 people in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Nigeria and Senegal.

      Jerry,

On a serious note, what is the alternative?

        Sep 24, 2014 24:49 AM

Al, the alternative is to stop foreign wars, that can’t be done overnight but you must learn from the past, who was responsible for this mess anyway. I certainly have an opinion on that what’s yours? What does Dr. Ron Paul say?

          Sep 24, 2014 24:08 AM

I happen to agree with Dr. Paul as I have said many times in the past.

AL, why are we in the EAST……..OIL..See some of my comments concerning Renewables, which does away with the EXTRA oil needed. I posted below , about GERMANY running their entire electric grid on renewable energy, WE COULD HAVE BEEN in the same position , if we had implemented CARTER’S PLAN.

You did not listen properly to the President, Big Al.

How does it help to attack Israel and Saudi Arabia; let alone Russia?
Obama is primarily talking to give the impression of doing something.

    Worth listening to:

There’s a lot going behind the headlines.

Obama seems pathalogically incapable of creating allies.

Attack Israel and Saudi Arabia? Please explain, Professor!

I’m waiting for the published transcript, but basically he reiterated the need to get back to his proposal for two independent states, Israel and Palestine living at peace.
His plan calls for rollinmg back Israel to 1987 borders…..i.e. giving back Jerusalem and the Golan heights, which is not defensible for Israel.
With Saudi Arabia he attacked their financing of its allies.

Obama speaks with forked tongue, giving the appearance of one thing, while actually saying another.

That will be very interesting when and if it ever comes out.

……There is a great article at KWN………concerning shale, renewable energy…..the idea that Germany has their entire electrical grid ran on RENEWABLES…., I mentioned this several weeks ago, this is a remarkable idea, which we could have already been FREE OF OIL.. under the CARTER PLAN……..If, we would have had the GUTS to kick out the POLITICIANS AND THE OIL MONEY. Now , we are screwed, our WATER is tainted thur FRACKING, and the War for Oil goes on. What a Plan.

J, can you please explain the physical mechanism by which water which is typically located a few tens of feet to hundreds of feet below surface can get contaminated by fracking (i.e. fracturing of rock over tens of feet) down at thousands of feet.
It seems to me physically impossible with a correctly cemented bore, but you obviously must know more than I.

            Prove it is not true.

Even the dumbass president has indicated it.

What is this a bait and switch ………physical mechanism…….First of all the purest drinking water is located at depths of more than 100 feet. Subject to where you live, Let’s say…South Carolina…the purest drinking water is located 1200 feet below ground level……example Mt. Pleasant , SC.

            SEE BELOW……….

            Sep 24, 2014 24:13 AM

            OOTB,

I work in oil gas industry and have some familiarity with fracking.
The fracking is usually done in a few thousand meters and sealed above that section. iIt does not contaminate the fresh water near the surface. The deep water are salty so cannot be used for drinking.
However, the technology is not 100% safe so when well bore raptures, it may contaminate the fresh water. The solvent used for fracking is very poisonous so it is another dangerous factor for environment if it not handled right and ethically.

The earth quack inducing effect is not fully understood so it can be another issue.

I would be more than glad to discuss this issue at length…….but, that would require more time than it is worth……..Beside, I am not interested in discussing something that the GENERAL PUBLIC is IGNORANT about, and is Part of the on going question of the WAR STATE , DOLLAR , OIL ENERGY ISSUE which has been going on since 1970. Thanks to the Politics of our leaders like DICK LUGAR, NIXON, and both sides of the isle….. ..Carter , only had good intentions…which most think of him as a moron….,AND that might be true, but, he did have a good thought on the limiting the war for oil…via through RENEWABLE ENERGY.

            Lawrence……….LIKE YOU said…..”not fully understood.”….

Lawrence, some of the above comments ..are not directed to you…., you popped in between subject matters…no problem though…….

            Sep 24, 2014 24:37 AM

Sorry if I stir up the pot. In my opinion, fracking is another example of human greed of robing nature of its resource. We are now targeting the origin of oil – shale. After that is depleted, fossil fuel is no longer on the surface of the earth. The best use of oil&gas is for industry input not burned as fuel.

Lawrence no problem….I appreciate the input……..thanks……j.ootb

Lawrence….I agree with you on the “human greed”……we have been in hot water since the greedy govt. , pulled the wool over everyone’s eyes concerning energy/oil/the dollar, and gold.

ARE YOU stuck on the CORN ISSUE?

Ever looked at a closed loop energy process………..Where heat from the earth can fuel a boiler……Idaho hot springs….potato farms….waste from the fields…feed the catfish the stillage….and make fuel ethanol from the distilled potato waste….Very cost effective…..

The studies have been around since 1970, a Dr. from UCLA did the studies did the reach.

reach….should be research…….btw….this is only one example…..have others

            Sep 24, 2014 24:41 AM

Lawrence, J, So as I read your comments, you are saying.
Fracking is safe, except when there is a rupture in casing or if the fracking chemicals are not correctly disposed of.

Would not that argument apply to all oil drilling?

If fracking is performed correctly, what are your specific arguments against it? I still do not see a valid objection.

J, there is nothing wrong with geothermal electrical generation (e.g. Iceland) but to suggest that Germany could use it to provide adequate generation is ludicrous.
Further to appear to state all of German electricity is generated by renewables is BS, unless you consider coal as a renewable.

PROFESSOR……the Germans could be running the grid by the waste from the alcohol distillery business…..there are 1700 breweries in Germany. They were taking about that in 1970. I need to do some more research, to be correct. .. But, they have the technology, and As I stated before , the German’s provided the technology to the Brazilians in their production in 1975, which ran off the sugar cane industry AND as I stated before Hitler ran the tanks off the “stills” at the end of WW2

            Sep 24, 2014 24:29 AM

            CFS,

I work in the industry so it is in my best interest the fracking goes ahead. BTW, drilling mud is not as poisonous as frack fluid so even it leaks the damage is small. In addition drill pipe usually enough to prevent the damage of drilling operations since drill head bents with the curvature. The major problem in E&P is spill and sour gas, which is far more damaging. As the technology improves and good regulation, I can see the fracking problem reduces and become insignificant. So I am not against fracking but also feel we have to apply it carefully, especially in the earthquake zones.

Lawrence…….sorry to say, but, BIG OIL ….is always for their best interest, Not your fault, …just the way it is……….BIG BUSINESS.

    Sep 24, 2014 24:35 AM

Obviously, Obama’s the Middle East policy is falling apart. With Russian defending Syria and China starts get into the Middle East, US role is threatened. The war is proven to be unwinnable and creating more and more hatred. Using formidable force against militia who never give up is a drain on resource. Even the pro-west faction like Saudi is trying to find another backer. I think the best strategy should be to control a few most important (and small) countries like Saudi, UAE, Bahrin and forget the rest. As long as US has a stronghold in Middle East, other countries cannot do much. Fighting all the wars is exhausting and bring down the empire.

BTW, I just want to remind everyone, China is going to have a long holiday week starting October 1. Cartels may hit the gold market when no one around. It might be a good opportunity to load again.

Jim Willie believes the Saudis will announce a new agreement for oil payments to deal another blow to the dollar.

    http://www.silverdoctors.com/jim-willie-the-crash-heard-round-the-world-saudis-to-reject-usd-for-oil-payments/

      Sep 24, 2014 24:03 AM

I usually don’t listen to Willie since he may impact my decision. But I heard that China is going to setup an international oil exchange in Shanghai free trade zone. Saudi Prince is negotiating with Chinese government to supply the oil at this moment. The currency used will be exclusively RMB. China feels a lot of inflation pressure domestically due to the purchase of trade surplus dollars by printing RMB. To expand the acceptance of RMB as a major currency can absorb a lot of the excess. I even heard the mentioning of world reserve currency, but I doubt they want to be the sole world reserve currency. It has similar goals like the Shanghai Gold Exchange, to encourage PHYSICAL commodity to trade in China and RMB instead of cash based trade like US and UK. The exclusion of other currencies may symbolize their resolve since it will make the initial inroad much harder than accepting US dollar.

        Sep 24, 2014 24:37 AM

I have not heard of this particular potential future action of China.

Something is better than nothing. But Saudis need to send actual ground troops to iraq to fight along side of iraq army. New pm of Iraq seems slow to make changes he needs to get busy. The last PM of iraq milaki wasted 8 years, we need to get tough and stop waiting for him and others to drink tea and chat . Lack of leadership in most of these countrys, is the big problem. Pray for peace S

      Sep 24, 2014 24:38 AM

Yes R Scott, lack of resolve and leadership is a big problem. My question: “what is the motive behind the lack of resolve”?

    Sep 24, 2014 24:01 AM

Jerry, Tesla as I have mentioned before is in the process of building a huge battery facility in Nevada. The future lies more with electric cars and the power their batteries will be able to store than renewables.

DT……..thanks for the info. The problem will be how, after installed, the battery will be “refuel”..or repowered after usage. ….. The renewable part continues after depletion of power from the useage of each battery. Making the battery , no problem. But, each battery will need recharged…and that may come from the GRID, and the grid, can be ran off of RENEWABLE (plant) energy., and ELIMINATE OIL, or COAL boilers at the ELECTRIC PLANT in cloud covered states.(Like Germany and,Eastern USA)

        Sep 24, 2014 24:54 AM

I see a safer form of nuclear power (pebble reactor) which is the only one that can adequately supply your needs. With the cars battery charger hooked into the grid any form of electrical power that is produced can be fed into the battery on off peak hours. With increased urbanization cars will be driven less by people living in large urban centres, I see this now here in Toronto and this off peak power can be sold back to the utility companies by the electric car owner at higher rates during the day which can be preprogrammed to feed back through the charger.

      Sep 24, 2014 24:19 AM

The Tesla is a great looking machine.

I will be interested in how this whole situation plays out!

    Sep 24, 2014 24:52 AM

My recollection of actually having lived in Germany for almost 3 years, is that about 45% of its electricity comes from coal, of which half of that is dirty (non-anthracite) coal.
    About 15% comes from nuclear.

SWhy are you claiming Germany is based on using renewables?

      Sep 24, 2014 24:25 AM

To be fair, “Reject the cancer of violent extremism” isn’t really saying “we will do nothing”

As everyone knows, I personally do not agree with his agenda as I understand it.

“reject the cancer of violent extremism” isn’t saying we will destroy or conquer. Rejecting is Obama’s way of saying “no thanks” and then doing nothing……I will admit that I am filled with disgust and down right dislike for this empty suit we call a president simply because of his idiotic policies and the fact that he doesn’t make a decision about anything unless it is going to benefit him politically or personally…
