wherever you go there you are

    Oct 28, 2014 28:55 PM

DOC, you think QE4 is on the way tomorow?

      Oct 28, 2014 28:01 PM

Not a chance QE4 starts tomorrow. They have the market right back near the all time highs so there is no need to start QE4.

        Oct 28, 2014 28:57 PM

Gary, you are a good friend and I am sorry to disagree on this one. Not an absolute statement from. Just saying I don’t think that no continuation of QE is an absolute.

          Oct 28, 2014 28:10 PM

Al, I would be stunned if there was an announcement of QE tomorrow. There has not been a precipitating event just for starters. There has not been a taper tantrum nor major sell off that did not already correct. I am sticking with my basic thesis that we get a retest of October lows and form a double bottom. That is the worst reaction I can see coming but it also carries a silver lining. Bull sentiment is high these days despite the Fed. So I am with Gary on this one. Zero chance of QE4.

            Oct 28, 2014 28:13 PM

All I am saying is maybe not likely, but certainly still possible!

            Oct 28, 2014 28:15 PM

I knew that 🙂 but I wanted to chime in anyway.

            Oct 28, 2014 28:54 PM

I would very surprised if QE 4 started tomorrow. Birdman is right when he says sentiment is high. Also consider that volatility has dropped and the markets seem to climb higher day after day. Until we start to get some banks showing weakness and corporations asking for more handouts QE4 might be a little ways down the road.

            Oct 28, 2014 28:22 PM

birdman this is the 4X100 relay. Now that the fed has finished his lap he will hand the baton to the ecb. All this has been planned at the jacksonhole meeting years ago .I knew they were up to something from the sneaky smile on jean-claude trichet and Ben bernanke face when they were walking at the park.

            Oct 28, 2014 28:37 PM

Al the fed would be wasting a good card if he launches qe4 tomorrow.Imo he will keep it up his sleeve for later on when stock market eventually takes a huge plunge. They have to keep some powder dry. They will loose credit if they launch it now because they would make it more evident that the rise in stock market was artificial.

            Oct 28, 2014 28:22 PM

I don’t disagree Don. I am just saying that in this crazy market anything is possible.

            Oct 28, 2014 28:48 PM

            Bird,
You are leading all into malinvestment tha t will wipe them out..its on YOUR conscious NOT mine! A__________

            Oct 28, 2014 28:21 PM

Gee SD, I don’t know about that. My record is actually pretty good for calling the twists and turns of markets even if I am but a humble anonymous blogger. What part of my comment has you so riled up anyway? The part about no QE4?

Seriously man. There is no QE4 coming.

What the hell would the Fed buy that is not already being bid. Look at demand for Treasury paper lately as an example. Clearly there is no need whatsoever for the Federal Reserve to compete when buyers are willing.

And how about MBS? You think they can even find another few hyndred billion of quality issues without putting garbage on their balance sheet? No way man. They will not do it. See, that’s what most people don’t understand, the Fed needs something to buy and I am sure they are not going to launch another QE by picking up $Junk!!!!

My conscience is clear. I only ask you to think of the mechanics here. Imagine you are the Fed. What would you do if you had already absorbed most of the risk that was available and cleared the balance sheets of the banks that were impaired?

      Oct 28, 2014 28:07 PM

Peter, I agree with Gary. The conventional markets would have to take a bigger hit then they have before they’ll start to throw around QE4 again. Have you noticed how they have gone surprisingly quiet again with their talk about QE4?

        Oct 28, 2014 28:00 PM

It is certainly possible Doc, but not a sure thing!

        Oct 28, 2014 28:56 PM

I agree Doc. The Fed can stay quiet now until they want to shock the markets up again… Then all it will take is a little mention by Yellen and it will be all over the news.

Well, I thought that maybe goldstocks had stopped falling as a few of the ones I follow had stayed put for a week or two. I picked up a couple, sure enough, down 20-30% in 2 days.
From that, I would say they havnt stopped falling yet.

      Oct 28, 2014 28:33 PM

The only reason they fell is because you bought them, it happens to the best of us.

        Oct 28, 2014 28:18 PM

Boy, is that a true statement.

        Oct 28, 2014 28:36 PM

Totally agree that they do Bird.
I’m off to a mate’s ‘Divorce Party’ this coming weekend.
Thats proof enough right there….at least for him (& the rest of us invited):)

The divorce party is sometimes better than the wedding!
