I’ll take one of those newsletters, Doc!

      Dec 16, 2014 16:52 PM

Sure, I would like to look at a couple copies too. You have my email Al. Can you send one out?

      Dec 17, 2014 17:43 AM

You should have received the most recent issue last night Wiseguy. If not please let us know under Doc’s interview today. That interview should be up in an hour or so.

        Dec 17, 2014 17:27 AM

What about me Cory? I did not receive a copy of any of them yet and I have asked three or four times…….or we we just playing games here. You have my email.

In my previous post by Doc, I meant Dr. Korelin.

    Doctor Postma,

Have you been studying any of the coal companies? ANR is pretty far under its Cash per Share and it’s 1/10th of its book value per Finviz. Is that a screaming buy or am I just insane?

      Dec 16, 2014 16:19 PM

Wiseguy; I’ve been watching the coal stocks with interest. I’ll get back to you on them later. Doc.

        Dec 16, 2014 16:31 PM

        Thanks!

          Dec 16, 2014 16:35 PM

Wiseguy; awhile back I did a ton of reading on the coal stocks. Even within this country, they’re not all the same. Like precious metal miners, coal miners can pull coal from deep in the ground versus open pits. Also, the coal from east of the Mississippi is a different type of coal and more expensive to mine versus the coals west of the M. Then you have thermal coal and metallurgical coal. Then you have Obama and the EPA attempting to put them out of business. Finally, the utilities and others will usually use coal versus natural gas when natural gas prices are too high. Then you have the metallurgical coal used in the steel industry. Of course, the steel industry is sucking wind. The demand is way down and most of the miners are sitting on a mountain of debt along with all their other problems. If I was going to invest I would research my companies very carefully and selectively. Then I would wait until the company finally would bottom and trade in a range for weeks. Then I would purchase at the bottom of the range and wait for months for any potential breakout. It’s an awful tough industry and with a lot of other competition which is also seeing their legs and pricing cut out from under them. If you want a huge contrarian play, coal certainly fits that category. I guess I am personally slowly purchasing PM companies since I feel I at least have a chance for a turn sometime in my lifetime. I hope this helps.

    Dec 16, 2014 16:38 PM

Doc, you are not getting into fracking (oil & gas) cos are you…?
    thanks

      Dec 16, 2014 16:20 PM

No, however, I did purchase transocean (RIG)—-I like the technicals which appear to be turning. I don’t know how long I’ll hold it since if the technicals turn against me, I’ll look for a lower price. The stock moved down from 140 to 16—-not investment advice.

        Dec 16, 2014 16:37 PM

I might mention I purchased RIG today.

    Dec 16, 2014 16:49 PM

            Dec 16, 2014 16:23 PM

            Ha Ha Thank’s ! Ha ha !

      Dec 16, 2014 16:03 PM

It could be a buying opportunity after all this is tax loss season. I have a number of stink bids in and one has been filled but I’m sure I will get more results because people hold off hoping the price will go up marginally so they can get out without too much loss but opportunities are made at this time of the year.

        Dec 16, 2014 16:17 PM

        I buy TNX 2005 ( 4 $ ) i sold 2008 ( 7 $ ) now 0,65 $ insanety !

          Dec 16, 2014 16:22 PM

      Dec 16, 2014 16:23 PM

James; I can’t find anything currently as far as news items.

        Dec 16, 2014 16:33 PM

RICHARD i Franky thanks strange !

    Dec 16, 2014 16:49 PM

I simply don’t see a future for coal anymore, technology is not kind to old technology that has too much baggage. I could be completely wrong but I don’t think so.

      Dec 16, 2014 16:34 PM

Coal will fade away unless oil, gas and solar cost much more than now. It is too polluting.

The margin calls are happening. I have it on good info that the margin clerks are calling and selling anything not nailed down to meet the traders’ Oil spec failure.

The gold miners are being sold because they are liquid..

    Feast while others panic..

      Dec 16, 2014 16:11 PM

Right On Ken, great point, I think tomorrow I will adjust my prices, forced selling will do it especially in countries like Romania that aren’t friendly to mining but they will be.

        Dec 16, 2014 16:19 PM

Alaska has been very wrong in respect to their environment but I think this will also change as state budgets get challenged. The ability to mine is not as environmentally destructive as in the past, like all things nothing stays the same forever.

        DT………….what the heck is a paddle boy……………………j

      Dec 17, 2014 17:48 AM

Wouldn’t you know it, Ken…..that the margin clerks would start disposing of gold miners when they are already so beaten to ratshit and oversold already. Some how it all makes sense.

    GOLD ………….1197…………….A LOT OF BS……..FOR $3 MOVE.

SILVER looking real good …..at these prices………………

    Dec 16, 2014 16:44 PM

I like the variety of information, and you don’t need to narrate for us why you come to the site Sally. If you you get benefit, if you don’t then go somewhere else. Pretty simple.

    Dec 16, 2014 16:04 PM

Jerry, check out this old video with Groucho and Jack Benny, humor is timeless:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wNK1Jt4JLg

We are back to where we started the day……..at about 1200 gold…….think of all the motions that have taken place in the last 24 hours…………………J. LIVERMORE, Might need to be quoted here……………”I have made more money by setting on my hands”

    Dec 16, 2014 16:34 PM

I don’t know why Gary and Doc are so surprised that GDX and GDXJ are getting smoked while gold is holding up not too bad. It is tax loss selling and pretty much the only sector that has not done well this year is miners. The tax loss selling this year is greatly concentrated on one sector and pretty much only one sector. The effects are greatly exaggerated this year.

      Dec 16, 2014 16:39 PM

Duke; that is an excellent point and could account for the diversion. If that’s true , the new year should then show a better correlation.

        Dec 17, 2014 17:51 AM

I think you are absolutely right on so many counts today Doc. Great show by the way and your thinking is mirroring my own. The window here could be a small one though. We are coming down to the last days of trading for the year.

1.4 billion people are experiencing negative RATES…………….zerohedge.

    Dec 16, 2014 16:08 PM

Read some reports that Russia is desperate for US $ & plan to sell gold. Could be BS, could be true…who knows. Story on Bloomberg

    Dec 16, 2014 16:21 PM

Why would anyone sell gold to create money when you can leverage gold for several times the money?
The world currencies are going asset backed. Everyone is hoarding gold.
The news of Russia selling gold is smoke ( like most mainstream news )

      Dec 16, 2014 16:57 PM

The same reason someone would sell due to a margin call. They have to. I have to guess there is something to the story as Russia would likely need money asap.

      Dec 17, 2014 17:52 AM

How did you get your picture up Chartster? I can’t figure it out although I tried a few times.

        Dec 17, 2014 17:52 AM

        Bird,
In case Chartster doesn’t see your question:

Register and upload your picture at gravatar.com

Your picture will show up on all blogs that use gravatar AND where you use the same email address.

          Dec 17, 2014 17:36 AM

Thanks Irwin. I have actually asked this question a few times and you are the first to respond. I would have NEVER guessed the answer by the way. I was just clicking on the icon and thinking it would take me to a “load photo” page or something logical like that. Anyway….thanks.

    Dec 16, 2014 16:50 PM

Could you please send me your newsletter? Thank you.

      Dec 17, 2014 17:54 AM

Yes, me too, Al. I am pretty curious to see the first issues you guys have put together.

    Dec 16, 2014 16:41 PM

Ok guys wti sitting at 54 as I type. I believe big move coming towards 48/49..

Long term remains the same.. 35/40 wti

      Dec 17, 2014 17:27 AM

If you believe printing money does not result in inflation, you must agree that we can print to prosperity. Logic tells us if after printing so much, we get lower oil price in long term. Then print more, it would be better.

GOLD UP IN THE EAST……..WHILE THE WEST IS ASLEEP……………….

    OFF TOPIC:
I’m confused the Federal Reserve Capital Ratio is about 1.2%, the Russian Reserve Capital Ratio is close to 15% and yet everybody is scrambling out of rubles!
I predict Greece will default on its bonds next year, because without an injection from the EU it is mathematically impossible for Greece to meet its obligations and I believe Merkel will not agree to pouring more money after bad. Yet no one is panic-selling Greek junk bonds!
Fundamental analysis does not seem to work any more!

European antiques and art in Russia up maybe since last year 5% in price is looking very cheap, but now one has to be careful not to need an export license…..Bring back free trade folks! Sanctions are crazy.

      Dec 17, 2014 17:29 AM

This world is getting mad, it is so illogical only evil can create it.

        Dec 17, 2014 17:38 AM

Yes Lawrence ! And gnasihing of teeth is coming !

GREECE IS handicapped ………..they need to say good bye to the EU……They can make it on their own……like they have for 2000 years………..jmho

    FOMC………………..FOOLs of.monetary cookery

King World News is not creditable imo.. it is very repetitive in its content.
A few of the commentators are more creditable than the majority.. KER has integrity.

No one is doubting KER’S intergrity………….AS BIG AL WOULD SAY……..”it is good to hear other views”

      Dec 17, 2014 17:22 AM

I Love KING WORLD NEWS ! I I Call Gabriel resources and day say no info no news only market fluktuwations Sooo BOYS 43 % DOWN Is total manipulation today UP 26 % + – What a world !

Today is Fed day. Every Fed day this year has yielded a massive sell off in precious metals and miners. Any reason to believe that today would be different?

    Dec 17, 2014 17:53 AM

I said on November 29th that $54 was the worst case for oil. Could it be?
