    Dollar To Da Moon!

The fed definately has your back. This will continue until it is in their interest
to have a weakening dollar. Aint gonna happen.

      Feb 24, 2015 24:59 AM

This is like the ending of WW2 all over again. A good chunk of the world decimated while the US stands tall and proud. Now if we bring back manufacturing the country will be on good footing.

      Feb 24, 2015 24:03 AM

There are so many brilliant minds in here that it kills me to see that some just don’t get the dollar/gold relationship. Dave, this has nothing to do with you i thought id just post below you.

Here we are with a dollar run like never seen before on a 2+ year incline. Do you know what the inverse trade was? Gold

Now 3+ years later gold has not looked good at all and i acknowledge that. We must not look so far outside the hat. Keep it simple guys. Gold has been in a bull market ever since dollar index began to fall. That plain and pure fact. Not everything heads in one direction as it would be way to easy. The index fell to record lows in 2008/2009. I remain keen and convinced that this dollar rally will reverse and continue it’s trend back down. They can’t keep the dollar this high for much longer. I know that and you all know that. Its a matter of time before the reversal kicks in or the u.s will go into the shits. Its already there just masked. Look for index to turn and gold to head higher off the lows.

This is simple logic. Follow the dollar and forget the rest.

        Feb 24, 2015 24:09 AM

To add further to that look at gold today and dollar today.

          Feb 24, 2015 24:41 AM

Glenfidish, your reasoning is spot on. But I think the Fed can stretch this out for a long time. That’s all. Gold and silver will shine again… when is the question.

          Feb 24, 2015 24:45 AM

Glen, the best way to measure the dollar is to simply look at how much gold it buys. The USDX is ultimately useless and meant to hide reality (the reality is that all currencies are losing purchasing power even though they appear to be going up and down against one other in a trendless fashion). Proof that the USDX is meaningless can be found in the fact that gold was just $350 the last time the dollar traded at the current level. Likewise, gold was $350 the first time the dollar went below 79 back in 1992.

I think the dollar can correct sharply fairly soon, but it may well be well over 100 when gold hits its next major high.

        Feb 24, 2015 24:14 AM

Glenfidish, I have nothing against what you wrote expect for one thing “they can’t keep the dollar this high for much longer.” No one knows what the Fed is up to. For all I know maybe they do what a strong dollar for whatever reason. And maybe they will surprise us with a small interest rate hike, who knows. We are so far into bizarro land that anything is possible.

          Feb 24, 2015 24:23 AM

7 years ago who thought Dow, S&P and Nasdaq would be at these levels? A very, very small minority. The markets are manipulated that good sound reasoning doesn’t work anymore. You have to look at this with a con man’s mind. The mark is being fleeced and he hasn’t noticed yet; why should the con man stop fleecing him?

            Feb 24, 2015 24:31 AM

Correct chris but in order to continue the fleecing/con work at some point you must let the other side get back in to fill the pot. If you take take take, that trade runs dry. Ive been around maybe not as long as you but at some point the other side needs to make money and forces have to release the hounds.

            food for thought. Nice chatting!

          Feb 24, 2015 24:28 AM

Well chris you make a valid point but when looking at a long term chart, dollar is up against the infantry and a battle field at 97. Odds are now favoring a move down soon. IMO there is no way they increase rates higher with dollar at these levels. They would kill the system in a heart beat and 2007/2008 would look like small change.

There debt is astronomical which will never be repaid. The only way out is to create more money. More and more. They have sold the sheep on recovery and all is gloom. Be very careful as mark has said, we are close to a top in equities that will have to fall down.

            Feb 24, 2015 24:32 AM

Glen, I do agree that the dollar can’t stay strong forever, and while we may correct down a bit more in the dollar, I still expect it to take out 98-100 before it tops and then starts a longer cycle correction patter, and gold starts a longer cycle bull market. Again, I am thinking Mar-May will be be the final push down in commodities and up in the dollar, then — Pause —- Reverse all the trends.

            Feb 24, 2015 24:43 AM

Shad, i have no problem with 1 dollar, 120, or even higher 🙂
What im personally looking for is buy the dip into this gold/miners selloff.

By the way how are you playing it currently? I’ve stated since yesterday and as of now that im in 2/4th position in miners. That would be my trading portfolio. 1190 will not hold.

            Feb 24, 2015 24:30 AM

Hey Glen, that is funny, because I just asked Matthew about $1190.70 on the Rick A. thread. It sound like your position is that 1190.70 won’t hold…is that correct?

Here is what I had posted there that I’ll pose to you and anyone else that wants to weigh in on the subject of the short term bottom:

What are your thoughts about the bottoming in gold yesterday and today?

Is the 1190.70 it a kind of double-bottom from yesterday, or do you think we may still head down to test 1187 or 1181.40?

Personally I am in a cash position and have been for the last 2 weeks waiting to go long Jr miners. GDXJ has held up far better than I expected it would, but I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. If Gold spiked down, it may tip the scales on the miners, but if gold has bottomed, then now is a good time to buy the miners. I am trying to figure out if we have put in the short term bottom.

            Feb 24, 2015 24:54 AM

            correct

          Feb 24, 2015 24:30 AM

“We are so far into bizarro land that anything is possible.” — That sums it up Chris. : – )

    Feb 24, 2015 24:17 AM

HSBC started in China but it is now a British bank. It is headquartered in London and its executives are british citizens.

            Feb 24, 2015 24:39 AM

            Feb 24, 2015 24:35 AM

J, I don’t think any of them has Chinese passport. They are mostly white guys. This bank was taken over by Bristish when it was in HK. It is HSBC in name only.

      Feb 24, 2015 24:10 AM

Wow. This investigation was just mentioned on BNN. I wonder if they will apologize to GATA for kicking them off for making unfounded allegations.

Blood not boiling yet? JPM up 2.5% today. Have a nice effing day.

        Feb 24, 2015 24:01 PM

Dan, that is the point, its criminal, so, if you want to make money figure out which companies they going to increase the value of.

I notice hsbc is the only one mentioned here (unless I missed them) but there is actually a whole bunch of them being investigated.
Nobody we didn’t know years ago that were involved of course.

          Feb 24, 2015 24:03 PM

Just a mention, Bank of Nova Scotia is involved, guess a person could bank elsewhere.
Not sure what else a person could do.

            Feb 24, 2015 24:11 PM

I stay away from gold investing in general lately but this affects the silver market greatly too. I don’t use any of those banks, I was just blowing off steam. (;-) Prolly a low coming soon then…

I think, Gary, it is a mistake to think anything definitive about the Euro.
If it wasn’t so serious I would joke about Greece. Did anyone look at their list of government actions and not double over in laughter?

      Feb 25, 2015 25:40 AM

The Tsipras government must make a swift decision. They should let the Greek people decide if the current deal is acceptable or not. And so they need a referendum to be arranged as swiftly as possible on the questions of remaining in the EZ or defaulting and leaving the family. And they must do it before anymore payments are made on past debt and before their scant resources are extinguished. Meanwhile, capital controls are now absolutely essential if not unavoidable and should be instituted overnight.

ditto on the WHOLE THINK IS RIGGED………..

      Feb 24, 2015 24:40 AM

All one has to know is, any organization that does NOT support an audit of
their books has something to hide. That tells you all you need to know.

Don’t waste your time hyper-analyzing the situation. Spinning your wheels will do youor your loved ones NO good.

Unless there is a break in ranks, it will be the same ole same ole. There is nothing anyone can do about it; and they know it.

I strongly oppose ‘Audit the Fed,’ Yellen says

      Feb 24, 2015 24:21 AM

I feel the investigation is symbolic. They will get pass since they carried out the order from the top. The reason for investigation to come out is interesting. I think there starts to be frictions among countries or among elites themselves.

        Feb 24, 2015 24:33 AM

Or the top feels that banks are taking advantage of the situation and want slap their hands.

    Feb 24, 2015 24:31 AM

    THAT’S what it’s all about.

    Feb 24, 2015 24:46 AM

Just my opinion but Eric Holder is not going to do anything. Now he’ll be able to say we looked at it and there was nothing there. As he then takes the thick manila envelopes from them.
As fro me, I like to keep it simple, I just buy gold and silver. I never take a loss with it because I never sell it. It may bounce around but it will always end up higher otherwise he would just won’t make sense.
I can’t tell you how I figured it out but I’m going to tell you what I think the next fed move will be….. they will raise rates a bit ….. and announce more QE at the same time.
