But corporate spending, I think, is up.
Student debt is at all time high.

Thanks CFS…that was a really interesting show and he made a lot of great observations that we need to start concentrating on. Did you notice Rob’s facial expressions btw? How they went into a very dark snarl a few times. Like the blood inside him was over-boiling and he was about to mentally explode. Wow. He is really angry about what is taking place lately.

He’s not the only one “Who’s as mad as hell!” and wishes out from the coming abyss.

        Mar 04, 2015 04:08 PM

Look at what FED and US government has done, people should get mad as hell. It is going to be a society of rich and poor division. This is not new. Most revolutions were originated with the poor got fed up. It is serious. US is young so there are not a lot of history to learn. In China it is cyclical. Every few hundred years, blood flows on the street. All the wise rulers were trying to control the division by execute the corrupted elites and distribute wealth to the public one way or the other. There were couple of dynasties whose rulers were totally inexperienced and they lasted a few dozen years. Same thing happened in Europe as well. I think the original founders of United States got great ideas and implemented the greatest structure in history and the country became prosperous. Thing started to deteriorate a few decades ago. As Doug Casey said, the idea of America is dead. What left is the greed of the ruling elites.

You said it Rick. I could not agree more. When this puppy goes down NOBODY will have immunity. I mean that no country will escape unscathed. Even here in East Africa with its wonderful demographic that just shouts out a great growth story continuing we are already seeing a slowdown due to the critical shortage of dollars and the crunch brought on by falling resource prices.

So yes, I am really interested in what you and Al (and the daily contributors) have to say about how we can avoid the worst of what is to come and what steps we might take to minimize losses. It is one thing to see the trouble coming (everyone does that routine lately) but quite another to grasp the strategies to stay whole once this mess unfolds.

Kudos to you guys for tackling this. Looking forward to the next show.

My best guess is that the safest way through the coming systemic collapse is to have a bunch of currencies in hand. Probably the US dollar as hard cash will be good, but I would not stake my life on any particular currency and I think it is positively dangerous to trust banks, at any level or governments for that matter.

        Mar 05, 2015 05:07 AM

I agree with some cash holdings CFS. I have started looking into keeping some Yuan as they are readily available over here lately for those who want them. It is because of its relationship to dollars that I thought holding some would be a little diversification. Not talking a whole lot or anything but I don’t think it will hurt. Beats the hell out of keeping Euros that’s for sure. I would not touch that paper with a ten foot pole right now.

Comment sort of related to Greece taking money from public pensions to meet obligations: In recent past when we had debt ceiling crises in U.S., one thing done was to take money from the Federal employees 401(k) plan to meet obligations or extend the timeframe when money for paying bills would have run out. Geithner always said it would be restored, and we just had to trust. Amazing what they will do. Never any thought of living within means, or prioritizing bill payments. Glad my 401(k) is rolled over into IRA, although they will find a way to tap into that or limit how large it can be.

Kirby’s friends in high places say humanity is heading for the meat grinder. A grim metaphor but with the neo-cons planning to cull the world population of c 7 billion, they intend working with a manageable number of some 500m!

        Mar 04, 2015 04:13 PM

“Cull the population of the world”? Common Reverend!

        Mar 04, 2015 04:00 PM

        Rev,

Not sure if you are listening to Kirby. The head Keynesians, eugenicists, and pro-abortionists are the liberals who are trying to cull the population that drastically. Yes, there are Neo Cons who are very pro-war because seeing what ISIS is doing in mutilating innocent Christians infuriates them. Is that sensationalism being played so they can set up a war to blame? Probably so… but it’s not all the neo cons.

BTW, I doubt a cull of that amount of population will happen. That’s pretty ridiculous. Yes, I know that may be someone’s goal, but I don’t think that will succeed.

          Mar 05, 2015 05:22 AM

I am 100% sure it will happen Wiseguy. It is what is behind all the work on airborne virus’s and other pathogens that has been vigorously undertaken by all the worlds major powers. Viral weapons are now in the possession of China, Russia, Canada, Israel, the US and many European nations. Collectively these weaponized diseases make nuclear threats almost appear harmless by comparison. And the populations will never know who released one. You need only imagine a war fought with deadly virus’s that can span the globe and infect anyone anywhere. But worse news will follow if a tit for tat release of diseases is undertaken in retaliation. We could see a host of them appear almost simultaneously. This is almost certainly how the global population will be reduced in waves of illness that cannot possibly be contained during a period of multiple outbreaks. I have no illusions in this regard and statements made to me by a germ researcher some years back reinforced that conclusion. Anyone working on military grade disease knows that the end use is deployment during war with the intent of depopulation. So we won’t kid ourselves about how serious the threat is. But when will it happen? I wish I knew and hopefully I am not here to see it.

Looking forward to the WE show.

FWIW, I have personally started to recommend to people around me to reduce the amount of money they have at their respective banks.

It doesn’t mean they have to buy gold in lieu of cash, it just means they have to remove some of the cash that they have within the banking system.

Coz cash which is not in the banking system…well… cannot be seized/frozen/subject to bail-ins or transferred/transformed into shares of “bankrupting” banks. 🙂

Back in the days, I feel that the banks-customers relationship was a win-win relationship.
These days, by leaving ample amount of cash with banks, I think that ONLY the banks are winners. Certainly not their customers (or at least mooooooooooost of them).

    My 2cts.

    Best to all,

    LPG

We plan to call you tomorrow.

      Mar 05, 2015 05:32 AM

I agree strongly LPG. Maybe you will talk about that a little when Al gets you on the show. This is just basic common sense that all investors should be attuned too. A credit crisis or systemic freeze will render all those electronic bits and bytes worthless overnight and turn ATM’s into zombies that spit out nothing but paper slips advising no cash is available. In such regards we need to think ahead of the crowd and take action BEFORE the signs of trouble appear. As it is, even during the best of times there is a waiting period to withdraw any sums over a few thousand in cash. Just try getting it out in a panic over the course of a few weeks by daily ATM withdrawals. Not likley going to happen. There would be lineups and the system will basically just shut down. We already know there is a measly few thousand per person on average of physical cash available at the best of times anyway. Cash in your hand (and especially USD) are going to be as good as gold.

Still like to listen to El Cerreto’s opinion and he’s still forecasting some dire happenings. For some reason his ideas never seemed too far out of bounds. Of course, I’ve been waiting for these dire happenings since interest rates went to 20+% in ‘8l, through the ’87 crash, through the ’91 Gulf War, through Clinton and Lewinski and impeachment, the crash of 2000, the housing bubble and it’s crash and the ‘comeback’ we’re now still living. Like the guy who went over the cliff, “so far, everything is fine.” Gonna be damn disappointed if I cash in before the SHTF but at this stage, I can’t afford to hold my breath, either.

      Mar 04, 2015 04:07 PM

Gotta think that there are some dire events there. Examples: everything you mentioned.

One way to protect yourself is to diversify your bank accounts.
    Consider credit unions.

        Mar 04, 2015 04:56 PM

Weiss can get you some ratings of highly rated Credit Unions over the net for anyone looking.

      Mar 04, 2015 04:46 PM

bb. There are Weiss ratings on banks. Showing which banks are supposedly safer. If there’s a new currency, I imagine it won’t matter what bank you keep your money (oops, currency) in.

        Mar 05, 2015 05:44 AM

I just wanted to say. If you want to get a bank with an A Weiss rating. Which is what I did. It may not be around the corner. I’m in Northern Virginia. I had a choice of a bank in southern virginia, or 23 miles away in Washington, D.C.

          Mar 05, 2015 05:53 AM

And since its probably not a national/international bank,
access to that bank’s ATM machines might be severely limited.

    Mar 04, 2015 04:40 PM

keep 25% of your money in physical gold / silver, and outside of the financial system.
