Never say never when it comes to the Fed raising interest rates

June 17, 2015

Rick joins us to chat about the overall sideways movement in the markets. Could this be a topping pattern or a consolidation that is waiting for a push higher?

We then move into the Fed meeting and potential interest rate increases. Rick even said he feels something might be coming later this year.

Al.. I remember fiddler on the roof… (an enjoyable movie for me …even though as a kid I did not particularly care for musicals) that was a kind way of me saying that!! LOL

I agree that the recovery is phony but the phony recover is probably real. We’re in for nominal growth but not inflation-adjusted growth. In other words, stagflation.

I’d rother have a ride than seven brothers – or brides.

    Rick,
I think you’re right about the markets going up this summer. I don’t think we are going to see a big correction. Which most likely means it’s going to get ugly this fall. No correction now means crash later this year.
I can always count on a good chuckle every segment, Rick. Very cheeky!

Rick – very good thoughts on the Bond market, and I tend to agree.

I’ve been watching the bond markets as well and right now with so much sideways action in very dull markets and no real flight to safety, but a slightly increasing volatility, it is a bit baffling on which way the long term rates are going to head.

I pulled up a 6 month chart where TLT bounced off the bottom band of the BBs, and has headed up, but there is substantial resistance at 122-123 (50 day MA, 200 day MA, and top band of BB). It seems more likely to go back and test 115 again and do a W bottom back up to 121-122 once the moving averages fall a bit more.
