The peak of US; so sad to see how fast it has fallen, since 1970.

      Jul 02, 2015 02:20 PM

It is a different world CFS. But, I have decided that I am going to be as vocal as I can to combat the stupidity.

        Jul 02, 2015 02:21 PM

Al, you are going to have to be more vocal with so much stupidity around. These same idiots are the ones who are often first to complain….I really hope they catch them before they do more damage and put everybody out of work.

I should add that this is from a website in NZ. This is how the world sees America lately. A mix of corrupt police, crime and race riots with a dash of Goldman Sachs, Hillary, and Michelle Obama’s fashion (those arms!) mixed in.

Happy Fourth of July to those KE Report readers who are managing to keep sane! You are a rare breed indeed.

Married in ’73. Helped provide some direction to my life. Wife is 5 yrs. younger than I but we’re both healthy so you can’t ask much more than that. Enjoyed last night’s presentation of the 70’s on PBS. Learned some good history I had forgotten.

    Jul 02, 2015 02:49 PM

Sweet Stuff there. I sure miss those patriotic days.

    Jul 02, 2015 02:08 PM

    Great stuff!!
Wonder if we ever get it back? The masculine male. Instead of the sensitive new age metro sexual type. The world and society evolves. So I’m still hopeful…

      Jul 02, 2015 02:23 PM

As am I Chartster. As I said above I am not going to give in to the stopidos who believe in a free lunch as their right. I also have moral values that I absolutely refuse to change. If I did I would just be another looser. And none of us here are loosers!

    Jul 02, 2015 02:18 PM

Wow. It makes me want to fight for them.

Thank you Al for the video. Brings back many wonderful memories of Fireworks displays my folks took us to as kids, and the many reasons behind it all and all those who have stood for our freedoms. May God Bless America!!! Have a great 4th!!

And all the very best to you Ron

Never offended here. Thanks for the video. Its very motivating for a guy my age(59).

    Jul 03, 2015 03:28 AM

Loved it. God Bless America. May we never lose it. Remember, the enemy of good is perfect. We’re still the best.

Chinese stock market goes down about 6%. Authorities in power don’t like that, so 20 brokers are arrested.
    Their crime?
    Guilty of shorting stocks.
? Coming to your neighborhood in the future?

      Jul 03, 2015 03:05 AM

Not that simple. There is a big power struggle going on there. President Xi’s anti-corruption has hurt a lot of mid to high rank officials. They have been trying to cause trouble including assacination attempts. The move in Chinese stock market looks like a pump and dump. Stock has been always suppressed by the central government for years. government mentioned last year they wanted to let stock market up and claimed slow bull is good for economy and somehow the slow bull became mad cow quickly. Some of what Chinese SEC did is exactly drag market up and smash it. So the head of SEC was sacked a couple of days ago. People who lost money will start rioting if government does not react. I am sure someone will be executed based on Chinese politics.

A couple of months ago when the stock market was surging, premier Li said that there are devils in the exchange. Now it comes to the battle.

        Jul 03, 2015 03:20 AM

The crash has caused quite psychological damage. It is not normal to surge 150% in a matter of few months. Chinese market has never been normal anyway. It is why people like real estate more

          Jul 03, 2015 03:43 AM

Yes, there has been quite a bit of psychological damage from this bubble then crash. In Europe or the US or Canada, we’ve seen these cycles before. For many Chinese this is their first experience with this kind of phenomenon. Also agreed on the Chinese markets not really being normal anyway. Good thoughts as per usual Lawrence.

Greece defaults. However the CDS writers cannot pay.
So ISDA does not declare a default.
    The law is changed!
So the winners lose and the losers win!

Is it possible for the world to have a currency collapse if contract law is mutable at will by those in power?

    Puerto Rico default.
Again ISDA has not declared a default.
It has declared a debt payment moratorium.
What kind of mealy-mouthed mumbojumbo is that?

If I owned credit default swaps, I would expect to be paid!

      Jul 03, 2015 03:47 AM

Expecting to be paid, Professor, could very well be an unrealistic assumption. I have certainly found that to be the case in my experience as a land lord. I had to spent almost $2K

        Jul 03, 2015 03:51 AM

I hit “submit” two quickly. To continue: “I had to spend almost $2K to evict a friend who promised me he would be able to pay the rent and then did not pay for the months of March, April, May, June and now 1/2 of July. This is not a philosophy that I adhere to obviously but elements in society are certainly going in this direction with absolutely not feeling of personal responsibility of remorse.”

        Best to you Professor.

When liberals refused to allow the 10 commandments to be posted on a wall at City Hall, the rot of morals was obvious……

    CFS
    Jul 03, 2015 03:18 AM

(I am neither a Christian nor a Jew)
I have always considered the 10 commandments not a religion, but mostly a set of rules by which civilization should live.
Certainly they have founded the basis upon which, together with the Magna Carta, the Anglosphere developed the greatest society yet seen on earth.
Now the system is clearly in decline and I don’t know what can stop the decline.
With a leader that has a pen and a phone who ignores constitutional limitations of his authority; with a Supreme Court that rewrites the very meaning of English words; with a Secretary of State who thinks more of lining her own pockets than the very life of her underlings; with a Congress corruptly following only corporation bribery, short of a Revolution I see little hope.
