Thank you for your continued commentary Skeeta!

    Dec 26, 2015 26:31 AM

Ditto Skeeta. Al. Cory and the gang do an amazing job. Best to all for a very prosperous and safe New Year. A

Been reading how many areas up there are very underwater presently.
      Stay safe if you are.
      Cheers.

Thank God no, Skeeta. Just too tragic for words, more so for those with no insurance.

Ref Seg 7, perhaps David the ‘my my’ moment comes as soon as this April where with the expansion of the yuan gold price begins to go active.

I believe this link to be very important, so I posted it again. Article from Martin Pring with generous, long-term charts:

There’s been a rally in gold into the new year for the last two years. In deference to Avi Gilbert’s comments, and Doc’s comments, the ‘technicals on the fundamentals’ suggest that we’ll perhaps see another rally into the new year.

A positive risk/reward scenario, even though we’re technically in a bear market:

On whether The Fed pulled the trigger too early or too late, yet another rationination:

For me the important thing is interest rates vs. inflation. It appears that interest rates on the 10-year bond need to decline below inflation. Not treasury bills or the policy rate. The 10-year rate.

Guest Post: “Gold Market Manipulation”, by Gary Savage

Back on Wednesday, technical analyst Gary Savage published a terrific video presentation that dissects the ongoing price manipulation in the paper gold market. Since it covers several of the topics we routinely discuss here at TFMR, I wrote Gary to ask if we could use it as a guest post and he happily obliged.

So, please take some time this weekend to watch the video below. You’ll notice that Gary points out several of the features that we’ve followed for years. For example, Gary discusses the downtrend that has been enforced since 2013. Here at TFMR, we call this “The Nemesis Line” and the significance of this trendline and succession of lower lows is well known to Vault subscribers.

I take it gary savage is no longer doing commentary for you

      Dec 26, 2015 26:41 AM

      Your take is correct

        Dec 26, 2015 26:39 AM

I remain a fan of Gary’s work even though his record is not as good as Doc’s. But then Doc is my all time favorite technician…

It is official………….OBAMA has increased the size of the DEBT, … during his term
from $10 Trillion to $18 Trillion(in round figures) Job well done.

      Dec 26, 2015 26:42 AM

Job well done? Now I know you are crazy Frank!

      Dec 26, 2015 26:39 AM

Frank, you could round out that to $19 trillion and you’d be closer.

        Dec 26, 2015 26:48 AM

        Picky,picky, picky!

        Dec 26, 2015 26:33 AM

not only obama include both aisles of Congress…

      Dec 27, 2015 27:02 PM

And B.O. said George W was “unpatriotic” for increasing the debt by 4 trillion. Then he increases it by 9 trillion! What a con-man!

        Dec 27, 2015 27:42 PM

How about simply a bit “dishonest” Bonzo?

D Morgan mentions huge PM demand from India and China, I read a few days back demand is weakening due to the Chinese economy slowing and weak monsoons.
Seems we hear and have proof of both outlooks, all I know is demand is still met with available supply.
I think I agree with Mr Morgan when he says psychology affects price.

    Dec 26, 2015 26:32 AM

Al, I think you enjoy provoking…religious antagonism..

      Dec 26, 2015 26:08 PM

Nope, and that is why we don’t discuss it anymore.

“The Big Short:” 2008 Repackaged Into 2016

History, with all her volumes vast, hath but one page. – Lord Byron

“The Big Short” is a must-see movie. Adapted from the Michael Lewis’ non-fiction book, “The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine,” it brings to life Walls Street’s fraud-infused world of credit default swaps (CDS) and collateralized debt obligations (CDOs, which were at the center of the collapse of the housing market and the financial system in 2008.

Now that Ben Bernanke has “successfully” saved our system from its demise (sarcasm intended), it’s easy to bury the past and disremember the degree of fraudulence and criminality that had engulfed mortgage and housing markets. It still blows my mind and angers me to think that people like Angelo Mozilo not only never went to jail, but they were never properly investigated for their role in fomenting the biggest fraud – up to that point in time – in history. Continued…..

Statute of Limitation means that guys like Angelo Mozillo and Joseph Cassano ( AIG ) are totally home free and possibly doubly rich than during 2008 panic bottom.

    Dec 26, 2015 26:33 PM

Wishing everyone a belated very merry happy Ramahanaquanzmas!

    Dec 26, 2015 26:08 PM

Great show. Thanks for all your efforts this year. You guys are far too kind to me though especially as I am so obnoxious some days but I appreciate the compliments. Have a great New Year all and may I wish you a belated Merry Christmas.

      Dec 27, 2015 27:50 AM

Trust me Bird, I have been known to be Mr Obnoxious.

    Dec 27, 2015 27:04 AM

Bird…Hello. I think you deserve the compliments more than me. You & Matthew do so much for this site, I hope 2016 is the year you two work together you both could do a great double act. But a little of me hopes you & Matthew have the odd cat fight as is seems to bring out in the best of you two , when you make up.
I also HOPE the usual crew on here ..( cfs..bb..rev..uk bob..etc ) keep posting as you all provide SO MUCH helpful & important info that we all benefit from.
I also know that there are a lot of people out there that listen-in , & read the comments everyday but never comment…Come Come don’t be shy chip in . The more people we have providing info & thoughts the better it is for all of us.

    Dec 27, 2015 27:27 AM

Well put Tony. We can all be obnoxious BM from time to time, so no offence taken by me from the past – Quite funny in fact that you’ve sometimes wanted to tear this old Rev to shreds from time to time. So trust me 2016 is a whole new year and I wish you and yours all the very best, Andrew

      Dec 27, 2015 27:31 PM

Hello Andrew..Hope I find you in good health.
I cant remember ever trying to tear you to shreds, maybe I’m going senile , please refresh my memory.

        Dec 27, 2015 27:17 PM

Put down your Irish malt Tony!! I was referring to BM’s insults but which I no longer harbour! Very best to you and 2016. Keep you low-loader silver truck purring! A

          Dec 27, 2015 27:49 PM

PHEW !!!..Thanks Andrew . No Irish malt at the moment , just some cans of John Smiths that were given to me for Christmas…..CHEERS…………HIC..

            Dec 28, 2015 28:06 AM

Thanks guys. And all the best of the year to you too. I am betting we will all get along great in 2016 and all the more if this metals market does bottom. For once we will all be on the same side of the trade. Hopefully Matthew keeps posting too. He has a wealth of ideas on the Junior miners so lots of great trade ideas we might otherwise miss.

    Dec 27, 2015 27:37 AM

I read somewhere, I can’t remember where, that technical analysis only accounts for 10% of trading success. 60% Comes down to trading psychology. I can’t remember what the other 30% was lol.

      Dec 28, 2015 28:12 AM

That might be true. I am devoted to technicals but have bet perfectly wrong based on assumptions of what I thought was going to happen next despite the set ups. It happens to all of us. That’s why we need to look at sentiment readings and cycles in conjunction with technical patterns.

    Dec 27, 2015 27:09 PM

    Doc,
Thanks for the acknowledgement. Coming from you, I take as a meaningful compliment!

The segment about technical analysis with You and Cory was really good. I think watching the ” true ” fundamentals gets you to the right asset classes. And then the technicals take over regarding the trade.

Temple had an interesting parallel regarding Jesus in this day in time. I really never thought of things in that context. That was great! Thanks Chris.

    Dec 28, 2015 28:59 AM

Thanks Big Al, Cory, and Doc for all you do. Thanks to all the contributors on this site for sharing all the information and laughs.

    Dec 28, 2015 28:25 AM

I find that all technical indicators are lagging. When trading, I look at the price action in real time on the daily, 60 and 30 minute charts and time my entries from the 5 minute chart. I also use finonacci, simple support and resistance coupled with basic trend lines. I find you have to get as close as possible to the real time price action.

Technical analysis is good for timing your entry but once you’re in a trade, your emotions take over – that’s what I have had difficulty conquering.

      Dec 28, 2015 28:39 AM

You are not alone in having your emotions take over!
