        DOW NOW DOWN 463 PTS!

    Jan 15, 2016 15:15 AM

I sold 98% of my positions yesterday as it was just a short covering rally with the machines outdoing each other with a race to the top generating buy signals as investors got greedy and cashed out on their accumulated gains on shorts. Now they will do the opposite with a race to the bottom. Oil was looking weak yesterday barely holding 31 and the market took that as strength. It is headed to the 20 to 25 area before it bottoms and then the market can bounce up.

    Jan 15, 2016 15:21 AM

    HUGE…………….it will be HUGE………..

      Jan 15, 2016 15:27 AM

    Jan 15, 2016 15:31 AM

Should we still be thinking about buying into oil stocks?

      Jan 15, 2016 15:34 AM

A few w/ a small part of your portfolio. I wrote of a couple in my latest issue that have INCREASED their distributions and are in relatively decent shape, even if their share prices have been caught up in the selling with everything else.

        Jan 15, 2016 15:36 AM

        Thanks Chris.

    Jan 15, 2016 15:34 AM

DOW JONES NOW DOWN 506 POINTS!
I told you that news from Wal-mart would take it to 500.

      Jan 15, 2016 15:36 AM

CAN YOU SEE……..600 ON THE DOW TODAY!

    Jan 15, 2016 15:36 AM

Funny, but I’ve been watching all morning and until now didn’t hear one mention of Wal-mart, let alone it being blamed for the selling. Markets have way bigger problems than that (though the Wal-mart news is indicative of the still-weakening economy.)

      Jan 15, 2016 15:37 AM

Take it from me……………….THIS IS IT!

      Jan 15, 2016 15:54 AM

Every FED chairman gets his (her) challenge when they start. Volcker got challenge of inflation and dollar devaluation challenge in 1970s. Greenspan got 1987, Bernanke got 2008. Is this the challenge Janet will get?

        Jan 15, 2016 15:03 AM

        YES!

    Jan 15, 2016 15:49 AM

My junk bond short fund SJB is doing well. Shale collapse is coming. This is insane.

      Jan 15, 2016 15:51 AM

Hope your ………..bonds are all insured……………lol

        Jan 15, 2016 15:55 AM

I am shorting for another month. A little bit, just to play.

          Jan 15, 2016 15:58 AM

That is not a bad play…….you should do ok…..I would think…..jmho

I thought this is it was yesterday?

Google requires 1000s of “coders”,(whatever that is) people are not trained for the jobs yet.
I guess as time goes on they will need 1000s and 1000s more.
According to them its a pretty serious situation.

This kinda thing happens every once in awhile, technology changes the requirements of labour, that in combination of a change in the world reserve currency makes this a unique situation.

Re read an old Casey interview, he figures gold and goldshares are the things to own.
Gov. will take our cash etc etc. I guess Portugal is being “bailed in”, good idea not to have all cash in one bank I suppose.

      Jan 15, 2016 15:15 AM

      “Coders”

Software Engineering carrer requires a demanding 4 year college degree (I’m not talking about Web Developers, that is much different).

For years, companies have struggled to hire talented, young(er) SW engineers. Most college students don’t want to spend their entire college career studying and working hard.

So … a shortage of SW engineers to develop products and solutions.

On the news cbc, last night, I guess the Liberals are putting in “coding” in elementary schools, calling it a language and if we dont get our people trained in it we suffer.

Google made the comment the computer industry needs thousands.

Personally I have no clue about pewters, shortly we wont even need to know how to type, we will just talk to them.
With google knowing everything we wont even need to use our brains. lol

My mention was just there is lots of work available for those people that actually want to work.
You would think people would stop going into debt for philosophy and learn what is in demand, google has answers but doesnt really teach people to think I guess.
Neither do the schools it would seem.

          Jan 15, 2016 15:39 PM

Being able to be a productive, talented SW Engineer (programmer) is complicated.

          1. Not everybody can learn to “code” (Think of all the people who just don’t understand “math”)
          2. There are different areas of SW engineering: Algorithms, Imbedded, Back-End, UI. In some cases, a completely different skill set.
          3. Teaching programing as a “foreign” language (from an early age) is actually quite brilliant, IMHO

Hah! Look what Dingbert is saying:

Opinion: A bear market in stocks will be over before you know it

should read………”it will be over before the you know,,to open your next statement”

        Jan 15, 2016 15:41 AM

Dow down 483. Will it make it to 500?
