Trump As Presumptive GOP Nominee And Gold
This article posted over at Gold-Eagle.com takes a look at if the presidential race is having any impact on the gold price. I won’t spoil the conclusion that the author comes to but I do agree with him at this current time….
Here is the first half of the posting and a link to read the full post over at Gold-Eagle. Or you can just click here and be taken to the full post.
Both Ted Cruz and John Kasich dropped out of the presidential race this week. What does it mean for the gold market?
On Tuesday night, Ted Cruz suspended his campaign. The reason was Trump’s spectacular victory in Indiana. The billionaire took all 57 delegates. On Wednesday, John Kasich also decided to end his GOP presidential run. The truth is that he never had any chances to win. He just wanted to prevent Trump from winning 1,237 delegates before the Republican convention.
Therefore, the contest is over – Trump became the presumptive GOP nominee. The businessman is now forming his vice presidential selection committee. However, the Republican leaders have not yet decided whether to support Trump in the general election. Given the course of Democratic primaries, a general election matchup between Trump and Clinton is almost certain.
What about Trump’s victory and gold? Trump’s victory in the GOP primaries should be positive for the yellow metal as his presumptive nomination increases uncertainty among investors who do not know what to expect of Trump. Thus, gold should gain as a safe-haven asset. Moreover, he proclaimed himself as a “low-interest rate person”, who sees “major problems” with the strong greenback. Such declarations should raise uneasiness among investors. Some analysts have even recently noticed a correlation between gold futures prices and Trump’s primary results.
We will now have a choice between democrat light (Trump), democrat crooked smart (Hillary) or possible democrat Marxist (B.S.)
Correct. Got gold?
Got silver!
They are all commies. Never heard one of them so much as whisper against Marx’s Ten Comradements: “free” gubmint skools, property taxes, central bank, graduated income tax, etc.
Exactly. And you can’t believe a word either one of them says on any given day . . . they simply reverse themselves the next day. It is like dancing with a chainsaw . . .

Who becomes President in November will not change a blessed thing about the eventual trajectory of the PM’s.
Trump is every bit as much a Keynesian as Clinton is . . . and besides, either one of them has to face the over $200 trillion in unfunded liabilities of the U.S. government. Unless either one is willing to end social security (LOL!!) . . . the printing presses will eventually be in overdrive to keep up.
Correct!
“I am the king of debt, I love debt. I love playing with it.” – Trump (on CNBC)
Perfect. 🙂 🙁
So given that . . . how much risk is there ultimately in being long gold?
If it isn’t visible on the gold chart already it probably will not make any difference.
I’m sure that’s rhetorical but not much!
Matthew, remember when you said Hillary would beat Trump in a presidential election. I’m glad you still feel that way. I don’t think she has a chance at all, but it is what it is and come November we will find out. You are not the only one here, CFS has expressed the same outcome and the experts Jeff Deist and Glen Downs are included as well. It should be interesting! DT
You assume too much DT. Given her hefty political baggage, I’m not so sure that is still the plan. Trump might represent plan B. Those who think that the real power has any problem with him are completely clueless.
Best Trump quote yet, “We like ignorant voters”
I think that comes under the Truth in Advertising rules. And I like Trump a lot more than that cow that belongs in stripes.
I agree completely.
I have said for a long time that The US needs a businessman or a salesman to run their country. Now they have both embodied in one persona, if you think it takes an ignorant voter to put someone with those qualifications in as President, neither of you realize that you can’t do much better, look at Jeb Bush, he only ran because he believed that his family wanted and expected him too. The rest are all grifters, socialists, and puppets. DT
DT, the point is, Trump will not fix anything. I have said since day one that he would be better than Hillary but that’s not saying much. The faith that his followers have in him is downright silly.
Silly is the path that you see because for you everything is corrupt and nothing can be changed, life has no meaning Matthew when you think like that.
That’s silly too, DT. Life does not lose meaning when you think. It’s safer to say that life never had any meaning for those who don’t bother to figure things out and willfully avoid or reject the facts when they’re right in front of them.
Ignorance is bliss but is hardly the basis for a life with meaning.
I simply can’t comprehend why anyone with two brain cells to rub together would think any of this torturous political crap is going to change anything.
The world has been completely consumed with a hyper-Marxist political cult that will stop at nothing to remain in power.
Exchanging Bush Sr. for Clinton, or Clinton for Bush Jr., or Bush Jr. for Obama, or Obama for another Clinton or Trump is all the same. A gaggle of utter contemptible sociopaths.
You’re just cycling through the broken system one sociopath/psychopath for another.
How long are people going to continue to participate in this ghastly intolerable fraud before they withdraw their consent?
And your alternative is…………to do nothing! DT
@Robert Moriarty +1 !
Matthew,
Funny coz I saw the headlines about that quote on debt… and I went to watch the interview to make sure he REAAAALLY said it.
Then, I thought to myself: “great news”.
Best to you & have a good WE.
LPG
Thanks LPG, same to you.
While I believe currently, the odds favor Hillary, 6 months is a long time I politics.
Hillary has, without doubt, broken the law.
Whether she will be prosecuted is a question to which I do not know the answer.
Whether she will be tried in the court of public opinion is even less likely, given the dominant democratic control of the media.
CFS, is having second thoughts, all in a matter of a few days. DT
Please don’t try to put words in my mouth. DT.
I have a problem with Trump.
I will always have a problem with Trump.
I pity the country, which, in my opinion, will face no good choice in November.
In general, I think anyone intelligent enough to invest in the PM markets is intelligent enough to have a problem with both Clinton and Trump.
There is no “choice” this November . . . the power elite has told us what we can have.
@Phil – Exactly.
Hillary is covering up a large swelling on her neck. Is it a tumor? She has a nasty cough too. She could die before Nov. and Biden will step in. None of this will matter as Obama is planning a false flag incident for an excuse to cancel the election and stay in power to “protect” us.
BB Larry Nicholls on USA Watchdog is saying the same : Obama loves being in office and could stay in power over some major false flag, including the collapse of a major US bank. Despite the mutual loathing between O and Mrs C he won’t shop her (they’ve got too much on each other), so a false flag is the preferred alternative. Besides, maybe he knows that the tumour is inoperable!
I’m watching the stock market boost and the typical PMs knockdown on a Friday afternoon.
What a surprise! NOT!
I would not call it a knockdown. Gold is just selling off on a Friday like we should expect. Plenty of people prefer not to hold certain trades over weekends including me and maybe you too.
Gold is forming a candle though. I was pretty happy earlier in the day when I saw that sharp spike up in the premarket. Its a classic. And since then it has been falling hour by hour and exposing what will end up being a beautiful reversal candle.
Hope you are right . . . I sold everything this PM.
Its a game of probabilities Phil. We just hope we are smart enough to line them up in our favour before making bets so we come out on top. It sure beats gambling. That little element of human psychology is what catches us off guard though. It is much harder to predict.
I agree Bird, the strength did not appear knockdown like.
The Republican establishment is coming unglued……..
The list of scum bag repubs are being exposed as we speak……they are exposing THEMSELVES………
Hopefully there will be some left, ……that can get this country back in shape.
Yes, the “Republican” establishment is being dismembered. However, contrary to popular belief, they are being dismembered by the left . . . not the right.
The Whig party did not disappear overnight; neither will the Republican Party.
Unfortunately, there is no conservative party at this time
they just need some more Whig-gle room……….
Time for elmers…fudd
Trump’s co-chairman for fundraising works for Goldman Sachs.
What was Trump’s complaint about Cruz’s wife?
Yeah . . . exactly . . . that . . .
Trump says whatever he thinks folks want to hear. He has no guiding principles.
CFS, Trump is giving the people hope that they will not have just low paying jobs, welfare, and food stamps. DT
So much for London…just elected the first muslim mayor…supposedly connected to terrorism…barry should be jumping for joy…
The majority of London boroughs have gone anti-conservative, the BBC censors any anti-Islamic content, so what should one expect.
With all due respect, DT, what could be more backward than the ignorance it takes to conclude that FDR was great and that Trump will fix anything?
Vortex, Matthew, CFS, are operating in the manners and style of what has gone before, to you the only way to look is to be critical and backward. Old age has it’s price. DT
This commentator is ill-informed.
Kasich is establishment and was a spoiler for Cruz, not for Trump.
