May 19, 2016

A slightly longer interview today with Chris and a focus on the precious metals and the Fed minutes. The markets have been very volatile since the minutes were released but will it continue?

Very good discussion. I see the Fed raising no more than a couple more quarter points at the best by the end of the year. They are looking at the thin ice they’re skating on and wondering what they will do when they hit the cold water beneath them. Odds are that the conventional markets can’t stand as much of a change to the upside in interest rates as gold. I think the markets will break badly before gold on any given raise. Today’s action on both show the trend for the near future. Between debt levels and derivatives, it’s only a matter of time. The Fed is what one could call “boxed in” and they know it. JMO

Agreed – Good macro discussion Chris & Cory. Much appreciated!

No interest rate rises in the market means no room to raise rates:

To be frank folks, I was hoping for more of a correction in the conventionals.

Perhaps it is early days yet but I was expecting a rate rise mention would push down into the 1900s swiftly and perhaps, eventually, to the 1800s.

Maybe it will come tomorrow or Monday.

I would use it to buy up some medium and long term stocks if that happened.

Megaphone top. Target 1800. Trust me. I’m always right.

        OK 🙂

There is a good bounce off 2025 and oil is showing a lot of strength so we could head to the 50 day again.

      Bob,
Rates rises have been “telegraphed”/suggested for a few days now, IMHO….
So either the mket is already pricing that event, or it doesn’t believe another hike will occur in June indeed. I am personally opting for the former.
      Best as always,

        And I will add this:
for the June potential hike, the ONLY figure to focus on, IMHO, if need be (coz I am not sure it matters ANYWAY), is the CPI data.
        Best to all,

“Gold and silver will do less bad” . . .

Yeah, well bad is bad. Kinda like choosing between Trump and Clinton. It is a Faustian bargain any way you look at it.
