How can the precious metals be strong as well as the US dollar

June 8, 2016

Rick Ackerman is with us today to cover his updated targets for gold and silver. We also address a question from Richard regarding Rick’s long term calls for gold and silver as well as the US dollar being strong. Rick points out that he is not calling for gold to be at $5,000 but rather more around $1,900 but stock markets down a significant amount.

Rick, your thesis is competely wrong and has been shattered.

First of all your gold $850 call has totally blown up.
Then your dollar 120 call is complete hogwash.

Your deflationist position is completely disastrous and dangerous.

Your strain $goes completely against history.

You have been and still are on the wrong side of history.

You say you don’t look at fundamentals only charts.

Then how did your charts lead you to $850 gol?

Maybe your charts were upside down.

Once again all the so called “experts” we’re caught flat footed.

You talk about others being on the wrong side of the trade.

You are the one on the wrong side of the trade.

    Man up

James, his $8xx target for gold was based on his HP method applied to the big picture. Since all turns start on the charts of least degree, you wouldn’t have missed squat when gold turned. His HP method would have kept you on the right side even while the much lower target was still technically valid.

I never believed that gold could go that low myself but unlike people like Harry Dent, Rick’s targets do not amount to a guess. Further, when Rick’s targets reflect his personal beliefs, it is merely a coincidence. He applies his disciplined method and reports the findings, that’s it. He applies it extremely well, I might add.

Yes Matthew, and your 1500 dollar gold call you predicted
without any doubts whatsoever insisting gold would reach
1500 dollars by December 2014 has come and gone.

A fatal error and miscalculation on your behalf. A guru, not
        so guru.

          Jun 08, 2016 08:25 PM

You lie like a gossipy little girl, Jake. I never “insisted” on any price happening by any set date. What I did do is buy the miners low and sell them high. Did I do it perfectly? No. And that’s fine with me.

          Jun 08, 2016 08:27 PM

“without any doubts whatsoever” ??? LOL get real dude!

            Jun 08, 2016 08:45 PM

Even Gregg mentioned it on the weekend forum.
He said Matthew was wrong on his 1500 dollar
            gold call.

I could dig up those old posts from 2014. Its
not worth it. Anyone wants to explore it and
can see it in black and white.

Anyone who has posting on this site for a few
years knows you as a perma bull and what
            you said. I do !!!

            Jun 08, 2016 08:49 PM

            Here’s Greg’s whole comment:

            On June 5, 2016 at 6:32 pm,
            GregJ. says:

Ya true, HH.Matthew missed the price of gold, but small fortunes made by a few who followed his picks!!!!!

            Jun 08, 2016 08:56 PM

If you want to dig up old posts, you’ll see that no one complimented me more than you did, HH. You’ll also see that Bird was a major enemy of yours. The tables have turned, not because Bird or I have changed but because YOU have changed. You can’t stand anyone disagreeing with you.

You didn’t compliment me because you understood anything I was saying, you did it because I happened to be saying exactly what you wanted to hear at that time.

You better get used to losing if you haven’t already.

            Jun 08, 2016 08:10 PM

Small matter of HH ‘foretelling’ the outbreak of World War 3 by early summer too. He should have been raptured by now. UGH!!!

            Jun 08, 2016 08:20 PM

Matthew, the whole argument was all your great success stories.

We are not going to go through this again. We have already covered
it now. The gains subtracting the carry forward paper losses.

All I said that investments in the gold space are not the lucrative
profits and success stories you claim.

As far as you claiming for me to keep losing that’s a very low caliber
statement to make. You desperately will do anything in any debate
and to go as far is outright deceit if derogatory name calling fails.
            You already proved that.

            Enjoy yourself !!

            Definition : Arch`dea´con ( The Andrew Hoax )
            n. 1. In England, an ecclesiastical dignitary, next in rank below a
bishop, whom he assists, and by whom he is appointed, though with
            independent authority.

            Matthew-
Dont waste your precious…….time with him..ur energy is too valuable focused on this blog…with great insight and info!! QUESTION: I have these speculative exploration companies: Rye Patch, Spanish mountain, Ethos, and luna…hang with them or are they done……Don Durrett put spanish mountian in his short of potential25 baggers?? any comments? thx

            Jun 08, 2016 08:47 PM

Totally agree SDMarc. Ignore the lunatics and move on!
To add to Marc’s question I’d like to know how many PM stocks to run with. Although it’s like shooting fish in a barrel right now one or two big hitters out there are advising just to keep your portfolios small rather than large.

            Jun 08, 2016 08:08 PM

Marc: Rye Patch is very overbought but still looks very strong on the important weekly chart. At least take profits if you haven’t already and consider selling more into strength in tranches. It looks like it can go much higher quickly but when it turns, it will probably come down hard. It has gone vertical and is 66% above the 233 week EMA. The daily is also very extended.

Way to go on Spanish Mountain, I think it was two or three cents the last time you asked me about it. I still don’t know a thing about it but would continue to hold it if I were you. .16ish (CAD) is probably next for it.

Ethos also looks good here and should easily go higher with the sector.

Luna is the weakest of the bunch at the moment and that is probably due to profit taking after its six-fold rise from the January low. Still, since I think the sector is going higher, I think you can keep it. It has a lot of room to run and is not at all overbought on the daily chart.

Daja vu but it never went as planned.

            Jun 08, 2016 08:21 PM

Andrew: I think ten or a few more is ideal. If you own only five as some people recommend, it wouldn’t take much “company-specific” bad news to make a big dent in your performance. I would also consider holding companies that span two or three risk profile levels. For example, you might put 60% into your top quality four or five and 25-30% into slightly riskier bets and the final 10-15% into the very high risk, high reward end of the spectrum. I know it’s all subjective, relative, and confusing at times, but getting your risk exposure right is obviously worthwhile if you can.

            Jun 08, 2016 08:23 PM

Who are you talking to, TJ? I have NEVER said a word about Harvey Organ and have never followed his work.

            Jun 08, 2016 08:06 PM

Matthew, you were never suckered into Organs fan club.

That post was for the usual fans of his with their pom poms.

            Jun 08, 2016 08:30 PM

Cheers Matthew. Rye Patch thoughts are also helpful. A

      Jun 08, 2016 08:46 PM

He’s still around and making a good living at his discipline, that key word of lack to most of America!

        Jun 08, 2016 08:03 PM

Thank Matthew!! VERY MUCH appreciated!! Glad YOU are on our side!! haaha!

    Jun 08, 2016 08:21 AM

    James,
Pretty harsh comments. The gold bear ain’t over, and you will be eating crow. Watch and see. But a buck 20 won’t happen either.

Rick is pretty darn good with the hidden pivots. And he stays grounded in the trade. I don’t agree with the deflationary thesis, but he makes a lot of sense with his step by step trading style.

      Jun 08, 2016 08:29 PM

      STAGFLATION.
Prices on many things is going straight up.
      Wages going no where..
The Fed is absolutely clueless on what to do…dude were screwed.
COLLAPSE in jobs # worst ever….Bad for USD.

      Jun 08, 2016 08:59 PM

Rick’s $850 target for gold is gonna be reached.Mark my words ppl.Things are gonna get very ugly for base and precious metals.

      Jun 08, 2016 08:13 PM

His deflationary thesis ain’t wrong charster imho. When the push comes to shove all the printed money that has been distributed in various assets will vanish and that means less money chasing the same goods.Thats deflationary in my book.My 2 cents.

        Jun 08, 2016 08:13 PM

That’s right Don. The wealth can be destroyed in a heart beat.

These bust – boom cycles are no secret. Wealth just disappears.
As far as the gold trade goes, the bulls definitely have the upper
hand. The recovery was a remarkable rebound. I would not want
        to be short or long.

We do need a catalyst and a liquidity crisis. Otherwise, gold is off
to the races. Auntie Fed should by all means raise rates. They need
to end all this speculation. A major war looks very likely with the two
superpowers and we will have 800 dollar gold and much lower. Games
over !!! Recovery is not an option.

    Jun 08, 2016 08:33 PM

Doc has been much more consistently wrong. Not supposed to say it but it’s true.

    Jun 08, 2016 08:35 PM

    HEY GUYS!
URANIUM stocks are getting bids….Cameco, Energy Fuels (UUUU) NexGen and UEC!….UUUU is really on the move with the lowest all in costs in the industry.

      Jun 08, 2016 08:57 PM

Uranium the next big thing – yes? Position yourselves accordingly.

      Jun 08, 2016 08:37 PM

sdmarc – I posted a number of times about Energy Fuels, NexGen, and UEC and many other companies quite a few times this week. See my response to Nigel below on were to find the comments from this weeks shows if you’re interested.

Hope all is well in life!

    Jun 08, 2016 08:12 PM

I always get killed on uranium, any views anyone (thanks sdmarc) U308 really made me wary

      Jun 08, 2016 08:31 PM

SDMARC & NIGEL – I’m exhausted from posting on Uranium, but I just wanted to drop you both a note that I posted a TON of information on the KER site this week on Uranium.

My head has been crammed for over 10 hours thinking, posting and researching on just the Uranium sector this week, so if you interested, I’ll point out where I posted that information. You may or may not agree, but there are press releases, video segments, charts, and price/volume info woven in.

There have also been some other great commentators discussing the Uranium space as well this week. It has been refreshing to see the interest coming back into the space.
      ___________________________________________________________________________

—- > Monday’s Editorial with Doc – I put 6 very dense posts about 2/3 down on that blog focused on different companies, volume spikes, company video posts, and my 2 cents worth. (actually I got very long-winded so it was probably my 3 cents worth 😉 )

—-> Tuesday KER editorial with Rick Ackerman – at the top of that blog there are a 6-7 quick posts about Uranium stocks, some press releases, and more thoughts on Uranium.

—> Tuesday KER with Chris Temple – About one third down Jay proclaimed: “URANIUM”. I followed up with some detailed listings of volume spikes of 2-10 times normal volume in most of the key stocks, pricing fluctuations, and some personal responses.

—> Tuesday’s Market Wrap with Doc & Cory – Towards the top I posted some info on UEC’s volume & Chart to show how the 50 day EMA, 144 Day EMA, and 200 Day EMA had been taken out on this move, and that this was happening in many Uranium stocks since the move started the end of last week.

There is also a Video that I recommend for everyone with Gwen Preston where she is covering the pro & cons of investing in Majors, Mid-Tiers, Small producers, Development Stage or Near-term producers, Prospect Generators, Streaming companies, and Management teams relaunches.

She name drops a number of the companies that were featured in their Investment conference, but the concepts will apply to evaluating companies in each of the subsectors of the PM miners.

Gwen also touches on Copper, Zinc, Lithium, and Uranium after covering the Gold & Silver Mining spectrum.

      _______________________________________________________________________________

—-> Today (Wednesday) on the interview with Joe Mazumdar I provided a number of resources or people that cover the Uranium space and recommended some websites to check out. Also I posted an updated Uranium Miners watchlist that has about every company I can find focused on Uranium. If anyone has any other ideas on Uranium companies, please post them under that list on Joe’s editorial today. We’re better off pooling our resources and sharing good ideas and updates.

Hope that the posts help give a few companies to follow up on and just more information on the macro picture in this part of the Energy space.

      Cheers!

    Jun 08, 2016 08:44 PM

    great show!

    Jun 08, 2016 08:10 PM

Gold could stay where it is for the next few months, oil is looking better and with vacationing in The US this summer we should see it go higher, any thoughts on this sector that has been squeezed by the shorts, oil stocks you like, anyone? DT

    Jun 09, 2016 09:47 AM

    Off topic,
I will be heading back to the USA this coming Christmas period for approx 3 weeks plus.
Does anyone have any must see things we as a family should do in San Diego or surrounding areas? (I haven’t been there before).
Pretty much got the rest of the trip planned except around there.
    Cheers.
