Treasuries and gold continue to outperform together – will it continue?

June 9, 2016

Chris Temple chats with Cory about his “odd couple trade” of US Treasuries and the precious metals. Throughout this year these two asset classes have preformed very well and Chris thinks it will continue. We then discuss the recent narrative that has gold and silver lumped in with soybeans. Why are these grouped together and what is the investing story behind it all?

That makes it a 4 bagger on Nicola Mining so far (with much much more upside that I expect for all the reasons I’ve been writing about all year long).

That makes it a 3 bagger on Avino Silver & Gold, and I can’t think of a more deserving company of this kind of a re-rating.

      Cheers!

Like Matthew & Brian discussed earlier this week in regards to Alexco, We won’t even notice these 300-400% returns on the charts about 2-3 year from now as anything more than blips because there is so much more room where these smaller companies can grow exponentially. I still consider most of the smaller producers and near term producers and prospect generators and most of the explorers on sale.

Could these miners pull back lower even further after having moved so much so fast ….. sure; but I’d just add to these positions if that plays out. For now, I’m still a fan of trimming on the winnings, but keeping a core position in place on the companies you like. To not have any exposure at all seems the riskier move to me…… and it will cause traders to miss surprises to the upside like this.

It’s fun for me to review things once in a while, and many times it forces me to look at the lay of the land in a sector or evaluate new companies.

            Ever upward!

          Thanks Marty. Right back atcha.

So what do you think will happen with Nevsun’s acquisition of Reservoir? I know that there has been some dissident shareholders causing a stink, but it looks like a very good business combination to me. Just curious as to your thoughts on it?

Roxgold CEO: Yaramoko Ramp-Up ‘Has Occurred Without Any Major Issues’
    Thursday June 09, 2016

Roxgold Inc. (TSXV: ROG) says the ramp-up of the Yaramoko gold mine in Burkina Faso continues, with 9,594 ounces of gold recovered since start-up, of which 3,564 ounces have been shipped. “The processing plant has operated at an average of 759 tonnes per day, which is above its nameplate rate of 750 tpd,” says John Dorward, president and chief executive officer. “The ramp-up has occurred without any major issues and commercial production is expected in the third quarter.” The first gold pour was announced on May 16.

Aureus Targets Recommencement Of Processing At New Liberty Mine For Mid-June
Aureus Mining Inc. (TSX, AIM: AUE) officials say they are targeting recommencement of gold processing at the New Liberty mine for mid-June, following completion of gravity circuit screen replacement work and a full mill reline. The company issued a statement saying it has made “significant progress” toward resuming gold operations. The Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia has given Aureus permission to discharge from its tailings storage facility and issued a permit for future discharges, and a detailed start-up plan has been submitted to Ministry of Lands, Mines and Energy for formal approval, outlining a controlled start-up of the gold-processing plant.

“Modifications to the gold-processing plant and detoxification circuit are nearing completion,” Aureus says. In the meantime, the company adds, mining operations have continued with a current ore stockpile of approximately 105,694 tonnes at a grade of 4.02 grams of gold per tonne. The company also says it is in “advanced discussions to secure additional funding in the short term from a potential strategic partner.”
