Here is what’s really behind the Brexit vote

June 22, 2016

John Rubino joins us for his take on what is driving the Brexit vote and how economies will be impacted after the fact. He points to the continued struggles of many other countries in the the EU as an ongoing concern. Even if Britain votes to stay there will continue to be movements towards leaving the Euro and EU for such countries as Spain, Italy and France to name a few.

        Thanks, Cory

Cory – Thanks for that schedule. I’d heard 5pm Thursday and 2am Friday morning, so I was confused as to the timeline. Very helpful.

The news blackout will be if tend as poles close.
Then there will immediately be exit pole guesstimates given.
Then results will dribble in for hours, depending on size of precincts and size of vote.

With a heavy turn-out, despite rain in east, it will probably be 4 or 5 a.m. Friday morning eastern US time.

I thought John Rubino was a good self- taught economist!

How can the EU devalue the Euro? Seriously!
By turning interest rates more negative?

They have already lowered the Euro enough to KILL Deuschebank.
Do you seriously think the Frau, who is going to be history after the next German election, is going to see the German economy further destroyed.
She may have allowed excessive immigration because the German population is aging and workers are needed, but there is a limit to even her tolerance.

      Jun 22, 2016 22:43 PM

CFS, I’m with Rubino. Central bankers/governments can always weaken their currencies. Don’t let appearances to the contrary fool you.

      Jun 22, 2016 22:45 PM

John…Do your homework, it was not the Greeks who lied to get in…It was Goldman Sachs who fiddled the Greek books in order for them to join..The bankers wanted it & the bankers got it.

The funny thing about the Trump campaign is that Donald seems to have used up all his Trump cards already. So early in the race and he really hasn’t any good cards left to play. By the time the election rolls around he will just be sounding like a broken record and its doubtful that will move he electorate as they will have tired of the same old, same old.

Basically, the shock value will have worn out.

Trump could still have an effect, if he gets Hillory charged we could get Sanders.

        Jun 22, 2016 22:39 PM

personally i would vote for sanders

      Jun 22, 2016 22:37 PM

BM..a lot of people have not heard his positions because the MSM doesn’t give him airtime and when they do they spin whatever he says to benefit the clintons. The more he repeats his position the more likely more people are to hear it. The more people learn of his positions the more votes he tallies. The more he can expose clinton for what she is the better the chance for victory.

        Jun 22, 2016 22:22 PM

I don’t know about that Gator. Seems to me that Donald was dominating the headlines while he battled his own party. But now he has lost momentum. The guy has used up all his best material and it didn’t stick. Even that “Lying Hillary” line is getting tired. I suspect the Clinton camp has played the game a lot smarter and kept some firepower for late in the race. Donald is going to be the one on the defensive in the final innings.

      Jun 22, 2016 22:50 PM

      +1
and as he tries to tone down his extremist rhetoric, the fringe fascists who support him will be alienated and blow away with the rest of the fall leaves. He is unelectable. Hillary will have to be indicted before he will even come close to winning.

        Jun 22, 2016 22:40 PM

i have to agree with that statement.

Did Big Al say “no difference in the long run, between leave or remain?

You aye right, because in the long run the EU will mutate……it cannot remain as is without a revolution from the masses.
The French love their bureaucracy and really have never fought for democracy.
The Brits, on the other hand, historically, have sooner or later always rebelled against dictatorships, Kings or power from above imposed on them.
They align with free enterprise, capitalist systems and liberty in the long run.
Sure many can be bribed or scared into submission in the short term, but freedom runs in the marrow of their bones!

    Jun 22, 2016 22:18 PM

There is no need to wait for exit polls or official election results.

There is no way our rulers will tolerate an exit. No way, no how that’s gonna happen, at least now.

Any kind of demand from the little people for any kind of de-centralization will not be tolerated. And any little people pushing it will be squished like bugs.

This is all just common sense and I’m sure everyone here understands this.

The chances of an exit are about the same as Hillary getting indicted. That would be zero.

UK Telegraph Headline at 11AM (PST) today —
“Leave given marginal poll lead hours before Brits start voting…”
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/06/22/eu-referendum-final-day-live/
“He’s [Cameron] also twice called for people to vote “in large numbers” for remain, perhaps his is an encouragement that every vote counts as new polls show a slight lead for Leave.”

And yet the PTB continue to have the news acting like psychics stating unequivocally that Remain will win. They’re shouting it from every news source as though the vote already took place. Of course, the way the voting process is rigged these days, I imagine the announcement will be “We’re staying!”, no matter the actual tally.

Yes, I have become that much of a cynic over the past few decades. And while I’m beating the drum, just for the record, I don’t consider the death of that young politician coincidental. Only normal people would consider it a heinous means, and there’s nothing “normal” to my way of thinking about the Ivory Towers that will do anything, ANYTHING, to maintain power and control.

Right. Rant over. Glad I got that off my chest. Now I’ll go make a cuppa and settle down.

    Jun 22, 2016 22:17 PM

    I am betting on leave.

So the EU wants to charge a tax on robots as if they were people. That is an excellent idea. How else can we compensate for the millions who will lose their livelihoods and income in the coming future if taxes are not shifted onto the pieces of technology that is replacing them. This is probably the best idea Brussels has come up with in a long time. There should indeed be a social cost to be paid (a disincentive) to dumping all your people in favour of machinery. Lets hope this idea spreads to the rest of the developed world.
