A wonderful tribute to the parents of Jay Taylor: Al and Kathy Korelin say that these folks certainly did a great job bringing up their son, Jay.

Evan and Evelyn Taylor Both are now in their eternal homes.

Mom and Dad’s 1946 wedding picture.

This afternoon, my mother, Evelyn Ruth Ressler Taylor, passed into eternity. She was 93 years old. She would have been 94 had she stayed with us until April 24th. My father, Evan Leroy Taylor, passed into eternity on December 31, 2009. They were married in 1946 and stayed faithful to each other until death did them part. My parents were both godly people who believed above all else in our Creator and, as Christians, that Jesus was born mysteriously of the Virgin Mary as the Son of God, that He was crucified and was resurrected to dwell among us both inside and outside of these four dimensions of time and space. They believed with all their hearts that Jesus is not only their savior and redeemer for them but that He wants to be that for the whole world. As a kid I wasn’t always very happy about being dragged off to church three times a week. And if Mom and Dad had not lived lives consistent with the teachings of Jesus, they would have lost me with the mysteries of their faith a long time ago. But what I saw from both of them, especially Mom, was a love for fellow humankind that could only come from a supernatural source. I have personally struggled with the Christian teachings I was brought up with and, as a “doubting Thomas,” I have required intellectual evidence that what they believe is true and not the “fairy tales” our self-serving statist educational system has required us to believe. Indeed, there are solid scientists of all disciplines who can provide strong and legitimate evidence for traditional Christian faith. One source that has been very helpful to me is Reasons.org, headed by astrophysicist and former Cal Tech professor, Dr. Hugh Ross. Another was a former MIT professor Dr. Gerald L. Schroeder, who is steeped in Jewish theology and is author of the book titled The Science of God. While no one currently alive can prove or disprove the existence of God or the miracles of Jesus and His resurrection, both Dr. Schroeder and Dr. Ross provide far more scientific evidence for the God of the Bible than can be provided for disbelief. But the life of a Christian can’t be attained through the intellect. Christianity is a spiritual reality and no amount of scientific evidence can get you there without the Spirit. It was an unnatural, unconditional love that my parents displayed not only to their own family but to neighbors in need. I will never forget my mother helping a very poor pregnant woman who lived down the street; she delivered her baby and cut the umbilical cord. Mom would do everything she could to help those around her in need. It was that kind of consistent, unselfish, unconditional love that both of my parents practiced that told me there actually is something real to their faith. What’s more, those acts of faith and love live eternally in the lives of those who knew Mom and Dad. Next week, I was looking forward to attending the Prospector and Developers Conference in Toronto starting Sunday. There are so many junior gold and silver mining companies that I am very excited about and expected to meet with in Toronto next week. I have had to cancel something like 15 meetings in two days because of Mom’s passing. I’ll make up those meetings in the next few weeks by phone if not in person. But nothing gives me more joy than the love of both of my parents, who lived their lives in anticipation for their eternal home with the Creator of the Universe who has now called both of them home.

My condolences to Jay and his family and prayers the Lord comforts them until they are all reunited. For we don’t grieve as those who have no hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13)

This is fantastic testimony. I too have had to look at Christianity from an intellectual and scientific perspective to address my own questions….I’m now more certain than ever that it’s the Truth.

As a great song by Sara Groves says I didn’t find the truth, it found me. Praise God Jay and his family can say the same.

Jay has always been one of the good guys–a kind-hearted, inquisitive, honest and well-mannered soul, a testament and credit to his parents. We wish him peace during this transition.

“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Steele, Revalation 21:4 is a marveloous and positively emotional passage. Thank you for reminding me of it. I am currently spending the majority of my personal Bible study reading the Old Testament and only focus on the New Testament during my weekly Thursday Bible study with my Christian brothers.By the way, I am now up to Ezra. It is interesting how God the Father punishes those who do not “walk in his ways” and rewards those who do.
