Impressive job numbers and overall global growth

Cory
March 8, 2017

To kick off today Chris Temple and I first address the very impressive jobs numbers released this this morning or 298k vs an expected 187k. We also consider global growth factors while assessing the overall health of the economy and ability of the Fed to follow through on upwards of 4 rate hikes. It’s a new paradigm for investors and central banks.

who was it here that got chased away that repeated “gold is dead”?
    jtl?
    I forget… there were a few.
Looks to me Bird could be right, gold goes when the euro falls apart.

Yes, we got a “playable” bounce fom dec/jan, even tho alot of people hollared “bull, bull” maybe it was just a bounce, the doldrums are coming. rate hikes too.

French election is? Begins april ends may? Same timing as doldrums, lol. How long did it take to get a bounce from brexit?

Then of course, France starts doing business with Russia again and everything will look rosey.

Geez the vegas bookies gotta be makin a fortune on this stuff.
If anyone is interested enough to bet it that is.

Always good to hear from Chris.
    thx Chris.

Copper price falls to 8-week low

Strike at Freeport’s giant Peru mine takes offline world’s three biggest mines, but worries about demand drops copper after huge jump in warehouse stocks.

    Mar 08, 2017 08:07 AM

Oil and gold headed lower. I went out of my heavy energy positions this week. Oil headed to $50 at least and maybe 48.

    Mar 08, 2017 08:10 AM

XOP headed to 35. It fell below the 200 day yesterday and has been falling nearly 3 months. I am only in cash now.

    Mar 08, 2017 08:17 AM

the monthly chart for $usdjpy looks bullish to me, with a golden cross and price consolidating around the 20 month MA. That is the first golden cross on the monthly chart in at least 20 years.

If $usdjpy keeps rising in the long term, the US stock market is headed to the moon. Commodities are dead and inflation will be non-existent.

Board: Puerto Rico Needs To Take Emergency Action
By DANICA COTO – Associated Press – 28 minutes ago
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) โ€” A federal control board warned on Wednesday that Puerto Rico’s government needs to take “major emergency actions” to avoid shutting down because its cash flow is critically low.

The comments published in a letter to Gov. Ricardo Rossello are the sharpest yet made by a board that recently began overseeing the U.S. territory’s finances.

The board released an audited financial statement that found this year’s government expenses could be understated by $360 million to $810 million. It warned that Puerto Rico could face a $190 million cash deficit by July.

What the CIA thinks of your anti-virus program
By RAPHAEL SATTER – AP – 1 hr 30 mins ago

PARIS (AP) โ€” Peppering the 8,000 pages of purported Central Intelligence Agency hacking data released Tuesday by WikiLeaks are reviews of some of the world’s most popular anti-virus products.

The hackers are quoted taking potshots at anti-virus firms, suggesting the American intelligence agencies are keenly aware of flaws in the products meant to be keeping us all safe online.

The data published by WikiLeaks isn’t systematic enough to draw firm conclusions about the reliability of one product or another and the uncertain dating means the CIA’s critiques provide more of a snapshot than an overview.

Still, the posts show America’s top cyberspies aren’t always flattering about commonly used security software.

    ___

    COMODO

The CIA appears to give mixed praise to the anti-virus solution by Comodo, the self-described “global leader in cyber security solutions.”

One post by an apparent CIA hacker published by WikiLeaks said Comodo is “a colossal pain in the posterior. It literally catches everything until you tell it not to.”

Just don’t upgrade to Comodo 6.

That version “doesn’t catch nearly as much stuff,” the hacker appears to say, describing a particularly glaring vulnerability as a “Gaping Hole of DOOM.”

Melih Abdulhayoglu, Comodo’s chief executive, emphasized the first part of the post, saying that being called a pain by the CIA was “a badge of honor we will wear proudly.” In a statement, he said that the vulnerability described by the CIA was obsolete. Comodo 6 was released in 2013; Comodo 10 was released in January.

    ___

    KASPERSKY LAB

This is one of the world’s leading providers of security protection. But it may not keep you safe from the CIA.

A flaw in the code “enables us to bypass Kaspersky’s protections,” according to another post .

Founder Eugene Kaspersky dismissed the comment, saying in a Twitter message that the flaw identified in the CIA leak was fixed “years ago.”

A statement from his company said a second flaw apparently identified by the agency was fixed in December 2015.

    ___

    AVIRA

A CIA hacker appears to say that this German-engineered anti-virus product is “typically easy to evade.”

The firm said in a statement that it had fixed what it described as “a minor vulnerability” within a few hours of the WikiLeaks release.

It added that it had no evidence that any of its users had been affected by the bug.

    ___

    AVG

The CIA apparently had a trick to defeat AVG that was “totally sweet.” The Netherlands-based Avast, AVG’s owner, said it was preparing a statement on the disclosure.

    ___

    F-SECURE

One CIA hacker appeared to be particularly scathing about this Finnish firm’s security software. It’s a “lower tier product that causes us minimal difficulty,” one apparent hacker said .

F-Secure noted that the company was described elsewhere , along with Avira, as an “annoying troublemaker.” It said there was a broader point to be made about the CIA’s apparent decision not to warn anti-virus companies about the flaws in their products.

The agency “considered it more important to keep everybody unsecure … and maybe use the vulnerability for its own purposes or counter terrorism purposes,” F-Secure’s chief research officer Mikko Hypponen said in a statement.

    ___

    BITDEFENDER

The posts aren’t complete enough to say for sure, but Bitdefender, a Romanian anti-virus product, seemed to cause CIA hackers a lot of trouble.

One post appears to suggest that Bitdefender could be defeated by a bit of tinkering.

    Or maybe not.

“Alas, we’ve just tried this,” a response to the post said. “Bitdefender is still mad.”

Bitdefender representative Marius Buterchi said the only conclusion to draw was that “we are detecting the CIA tools.”

    My is….. nope.

It is good to see such job creation but unless real estate prices are suppressed to or below 3 years pay at minimum wage such job creation is almost useless.

Are there enough people in the right positions brave enough to care?

This “deep state” works for the banks, they are world wide, will the deep state sacrifice some americans to satisfy some people?

Can Trump get these pedophiles? remember even the churches are involved, that pope feller is pretty powerful.

One thing Trump has going for him, he knows full well they can kill him, his family and anyone that looks like him at will.

Maybe Trump is working for them? we dont know yet.

I totally jinxed AXU. it is now headed to $1.00 and probably just under.

Or should I be buying AXU if you are worried about it? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’d also mention that it isn’t just Alexco, but most of the Gold and Silver miners have corrected down the last 2 weeks.

That’s why they call it the “PDAC Curse”.

Here’s a link to a number of articles, videos, quotes, and thoughts about the PDAC CURSE that I posted last week that may be informative and entertaining:

        https://ceo.ca/index?458f0a3631ee

          Mar 08, 2017 08:27 AM

It will be interesting to see if the miners bounce next week as selling is likely getting exhausted. #ReverseTheCurse

        Mar 08, 2017 08:11 AM

I dunno, go ahead and buy here. It’s possible it reverses, but this week’s candle so far is ugly as hell and is pointing to it wanting to touch the 100 WMA in the future. In short, it is not running away, and a much safer buy would be on a touch of the 100 WMA, IMO.

          Mar 08, 2017 08:22 AM

It has been a ugly week. but those lead to boring tug-o-war weeks between the bears and bulls, and then ultimately to attractive weeks.

I’ll keep an eye on the 100 WMA – good idea.

When they start releasing their drilling results, this could reverse in short order, as I’d expect them to have some more fantastic holes out of this next exploration campaign.

PBS tv did an in depthinterview in Erie Penn of an unemployed 47 year old man wh was laid off from a closed GE plant last year. He was earning 30 per hour. No jobs available he takes advantage of a HVAC training plan in Erie . He says when he finishes the course he has been offer a HVAC job iin Erie at 9 per hour . He is also supporting his daughter in high school. He has been offered a HVAC job in New Mexico at 15 per hour . He says he will relocate to NM as soon as he graduates the course. Lack of high paying replacement jobs is the problem . Pray for USA S

who in their right mind believes any of the numbers………still 150million people setting on their behinds…..

    Mar 08, 2017 08:09 AM

At best the upcoming low in GDX is setting up like November 2015. Which means chopping around for two months and possibly making a lower low. I am sure it will not play out exactly, but too much chart damage has been inflicted now for this to be some sort of V-shaped recovery. Odds are we chop around.

Silver miners have been absolutely bent over, and I expect the pain to continue since they have been outperforming gold miners for at least a year or more depending on the miner. Again, IMO, there won’t be any V-shaped recovery here. Instead I expect the silver miners to grind lower and lose even more ground against GDX, just like late 2015.

    Mar 08, 2017 08:16 AM

We do have an inverted hammer in EXK so far today, so today may mark a near term bottom. It may get a decent pop back on a correction but the damage done to the chart is probably going to take months and months of repair.

      Mar 08, 2017 08:40 AM

Sounds good. I’ve been watching Endeavour Silver sink the last 2 weeks, and had a stink bid get filled today.

A nice relief rally that pops up from here won’t hurt my feelings. Often inverted hammers do mark turns in price direction.

      Thanks.

    Mar 08, 2017 08:03 PM

Just looked at SNAP. It went to $29 and then down to near 20 and bouncing up to 22.76 now. It looks headed below 20 after a dead cat bounce as the bubble has burst.

      Mar 08, 2017 08:31 PM

      Ooohh Snap!

        Mar 08, 2017 08:01 PM

Will go snap crackle pop and then crackle again. May end up at $10. A twitter type of company.

          Mar 08, 2017 08:03 PM

$10 sounds more like a “pop” than a “crackle” (lol)
