      Lydian claiming $600 AISC.

        Sep 18, 2017 18:58 PM

They can claim whatever they want. The fact is, most of the mining industry, particularly the VANCOUVER mining industry, are either thieves or liars. Many are both. So I take that number with an extremely large, nuggety, grain of salt. Just like the Rye Patch release on Friday night. Large, nuggety, grain of salt.

Dow to break to new highs vs gold soon. $hui back to the 2015 low vs Dow soon.
The Dow is nothing but a moral hazard backstopped by the Fed and global central banks. They are not about to relinquish control anytime soon.

Spanky, you marked the 12/16 low with your bearishness before gold rose 20%. History repeats.

I pray you are right. But I am tired of backing an filling. A bull market actually makes higher highs.

Hell, the silver stocks are on the verge of making lower lows, even after a 13 month ”
“correction.” They can’t even stay above the 20 month MA, which is typically the bare minimum one would expect in a genuine bull market.

          Sep 18, 2017 18:03 AM

Our patience might get tested further but the bullish big picture certainty has improved since that 12/16 low.

          Sep 18, 2017 18:49 PM

          How about that algo!

        Sep 18, 2017 18:43 PM

After rising from $1200 t0 1350, I was expecting a re-test of the $1300 – area. It will be interesting to see if there is a break of the psych/1300 mark to perhaps touch the 1285-area, before continuing to move up to the $1450-1550 area by Spring, 2018

          Sep 18, 2017 18:04 PM

Agreed Brian. Makes sense to me.

      Sep 18, 2017 18:13 PM

The vix is about to rise and the stock market should correct soon as September is usually a bad month. The market has risen sharply higher over about 10 days. I took some big profits today which were mostly oil related cashed out. The big techs have been weakening the past few days.

        Sep 18, 2017 18:34 PM

I agree about the vix and the market.

By “US” , I mean certain powerful entities within the US power structure.

I do not know if the president, and successive Presidents were involved/knew.
Could it have been entirely a faction within the CIA ? Yes, possibly.
The US power structure or sections of it are clearly not under control of Congress and/or President

          Sep 18, 2017 18:31 AM

“Power structure”…….Bushs Have been part of that for years….

          GH
          Sep 18, 2017 18:08 PM

Certainly powerful entities within the US power structure had to know.

Hard to imagine how the CIA alone could carry it off. The Jewish-owned mass media played an essential part in selling the lie (and the wars to follow). How could the nation’s air defenses have been neutralized without collusion of some in the Pentagon? And then there are folks like Cheney and Rumsfeld.

“Israel could not sidetrack a genuine investigation without US collusion.”

To speak of Israel and the US as distinctly different entities is not accurate. US policy has been dramatically subverted by Israel and Zionist supporters of Israel.

        JUst for information……..
It is only since the 1950s that the term “Judeo-Christian” has been applied to it, reflecting the growing use of that term in American political life. By some the term is used casually, simply as a commonplace term, or as an inclusive synonym for the religious.

          Sep 18, 2017 18:59 PM

Except when people mess up (or maybe their spell checkers mess up) and leave the e out. One night I was listening to a call-in radio talk show and this caller went on for about five minutes and he kept saying Judo-Christian. Them’s fight’in words! 🙂

Some people need to do a history lesson and connect the dots…….

        Sep 18, 2017 18:02 PM

I think the US knew about/or was responsible for it.

Back in 2001 I concluded people very high up in our government and their associates outside the government either planned it or if not, they knew it was coming and did nothing to stop it and prevented others from stopping it.

It is always necessary to not take all said as true before verification.

Some statements made by the Bollyn panel are demonstrably false.

e.g. Rupert Murdoch is claimed to be a Zionist sympathizer, having been raised Jewish by his mother’s side of the family.
      That is pure BS.
Geelong grammar, a boarding school to which he was sent, is an Anglican school.
He then went on to Oxford University, in which there is negligible Jewish influence.

Having read various Murdoch-owned papers over the years, some have been more pro-Jewish and some more anti-Jewish, more just plain sensationalist rags than informative newspapers; designed to earn money more than inform. So again, claiming him to be pro-Jewish at core is pure BS again.

        Sep 18, 2017 18:36 AM

I’m not claiming anything even after EOD. It was just an observation. I’ve been satisfied that we have a new bull market since January 2016 but that doesn’t make times like this surprising.

Silver could easily fall another 2-4%…

        http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=SLV&p=D&yr=1&mn=7&dy=0&id=p68629747037&a=545285400

          Sep 18, 2017 18:11 PM

No need to warn me that silver could fall another 2-4%. It could fall a lot more than that. But first, a sucker’s rally, maybe after tagging the 50 dma.

            Sep 18, 2017 18:08 PM

Spanky it would only be a suckers rally if the downtrend was still in place and Gold/Silver and the miners were heading down to all time lows. It is very unlikely we are going to head down to break the Dec 2015 lows in the metals or the 2016 lows in the miners. After the first half of 2016 where Gold & the Miners broke above many key prior peaks & troughs and Moving Averages that hadn’t been taken out in years, it is far more likely the only suckers are the ones shorting the new bull market, and far more likely that after this correction, that the Bull market will continue higher.

IPT.V down 16% today. Typical bull market action after spending over 20 weeks below the 20 WMA. It’s always healthy in any bull market for price to stay below the 20 WMA for months on end. And the longer the weekly stochastics stay oversold the better. Sure sign of a raging bull.

          Liquidation from an ETF

“this is from a different board but relevant Sale was due to a junior index fund called Pure Funds Silver ETF which sold out of a number of their Silver equity positions without any warning to the Company’s affected. The parent company had announced that it had been sold to another Investment firm on July 31, 2017. The fund announced that it had changed it’s investing criteria today and preceded to sell down 6 junior TSX silver stocks just before and after market today including Sierra Metal’s, Excellon Resources, Kootenay Silver, Santa Cruz Silver and Impact Silver. According to market intelligence, they sold their entire position so it is a one time sale.”

          http://www.stockhouse.com/companies/bullboard?symbol=v.ipt&postid=26710872

            Sep 18, 2017 18:19 PM

I like every one of those companies that were sold down by the Pure Funds Silver ETF and apparently their change in investment criteria was to sell some of the more highly levered companies and stick with the “safer” more liquid names.

We’ll see how that works out for them in a year or so. 😉

            Sep 19, 2017 19:52 AM

Thanks Ex. The ETF referred to must be SILJ and the news is not bad. I want to see institutional interest at the end of the bull market, not at the beginning.

            Sep 19, 2017 19:45 AM

Yes it was SILJ. Agreed, they can jump on the bandwagon on these Jrs in 2019 or 2020.

    Sep 18, 2017 18:47 PM

    IPT.V. It’s in a raging bull market….

if you hold the chart upside down.

      Sep 18, 2017 18:16 PM

Nobody said the bull market is “raging” and Impact (IPT) is one of the most highly levered Silver stocks so with SILJ down around 3.5-4% most of today, then it makes sense that IPT was down 16%.

How many times have we posted the exact opposite where IPT is UP 3-4 times the average?

To mock a stock and the investors of a stock (of which there are many on this site) only on the days it is down is rather tacky.

I certainly hope you’ll be receptive to reviewing the gains when IPT crushes the performance of bloated momentum plays like Amazon and the general stock markets over the next 1-2 years when the raging bull market really does step to the next level in the PM space. I’ll make it a point to remind you of that contrast daily when those moves start happening. Cheerio!

        Sep 18, 2017 18:43 PM

Let him mock. It’s a band-aid for his uncertainty.

      Sep 18, 2017 18:20 PM

It has lived up to it’s name……IMPACT……..made a great impact today…..

        Sep 18, 2017 18:20 PM

As already noted above IPT and companies that levered outperform to the Upside and the Downside. Today was no exception, and yes a great impact is made most days that a strong trend is playing out in the Silver miners (up or down).

Well, this has been a tough market to be in for a number of years…….It takes a lot of fortitude to be hammered on a daily basis…….jmo

    Sep 18, 2017 18:04 PM

Ohh dear something in the water tells me the PMs outlook is changing somewhat. I dunno, its just this gradual grind lower over the last week or so that doesnt fulfill me with great confidence that this is just profit taking and a pause in the up leg.

The lack of a positive inverse relationship with the dollars fall is also a little perplexing.

      Sep 18, 2017 18:03 PM

I’m not too concerned and see this as exactly the pause that refreshes.

We mentioned last week that the pullback would likely continue into the early part of this week before resuming. I’m getting ready to go shopping for mining stocks tomorrow.

        Sep 18, 2017 18:56 PM

Yeh its just a feeling I have, no more. After all weve witnessed this play out so many times in the past. Once bitten twice shy I suppose.

          Sep 19, 2017 19:57 AM

Makes sense. It is very hard to shift gears from a bear market strategy to a bull market strategy, especially when having had the rug pulled out from PM investors feet so many times.

If Gold goes down and breaks below the Dec 2015 $1045.40 low then I’d start to get concerned, but around the $1300 level really isn’t that worrisome. Many miners can do OK at $1300 Gold $17-$18 Silver, but a shift towards the $1400 Gold and $20+ Silver is where the miners will really spring to life.

If we have to ride out some more short term down days, then I believe their numbers will be limited, and we are in the seasonally strong Fall period for the metals and miners.

It seems unlikely the Fed is going to raise rates in any substantial way by year end, so that sets things up for more muddling around by the Dollar and should underpin a more orderly rise in the commodities and PMs and Energy sectors.

            Sep 19, 2017 19:52 PM

Hope so Excelsior. It does sound logical but we all know this is not a logical world.

          Sep 19, 2017 19:01 AM

Other than requiring our patience, there is nothing negative or damaging about the current action. We are on the cusp of this new bull market becoming obvious to a lot more retail money and this “wall of worry” is healthy.

            Sep 19, 2017 19:46 AM

            Yes. Well said.

    Sep 18, 2017 18:09 PM

As we now sit close to that 1300 figure in gold, it will be interesting to see if it holds in the next day or two.

    Sep 18, 2017 18:22 PM

I find this to be very interesting, after hurricane Harvey hit Texas the media was showing more pictures of the devastation. With Irma I haven’t seen as many pictures especially in the populated urban areas, and now, I can’t help feeling that the insurance companies are suppressing this news, after all how will they make any payments to property owners. Insurance companies have become rich only because they deny claims not allow them. Bottom line is the insurance companies are insolvent but their shareholders are being kept in the dark for obvious reasons. Maria is now a Cat 4 storm and looks to be headed in the same trajectory as Irma. What is one to make of this? DT

          @marketwired on September 18, 2017

“Metanor Resources Inc. (MTO) is pleased to announce that it has entered into an amending agreement with Sandstorm Gold Ltd., effectively reducing the existing gold steam on the Bachelor mine (which required Metanor to sell 20% of its gold production at the fixed price of US$500) and replacing it with a 3.9% net smelter return royalty on all minerals produced from the Bachelor and Barry properties (includes the surrounding exploration properties), of which 2.1% of the royalty can be repurchased upon payment of US$2M for each property, thereby reducing the NSR to 1.8%.”

          Sep 18, 2017 18:51 PM

I have begun my DD for a purchase of Metanor. You’ve worn me down EX (!), with all of your commentary, research, and enthusiasm about this company. I do own SEK, but it seems prudent to have at least two-three companies in each of the mining area of Canada (Yukon, Golden Triangle, Wind Fall, etc)

            Sep 18, 2017 18:06 PM

Haha! I do get enthusiastic at times, but having one of the only MILLS in the Windfall Lake district gives Metanor a huge advantage over all the grassroots explorers in that area play. They are also one of the few already in production with revenues coming in.

I also like companies that have been vetted by other investors/funds and these strategic shareholders give me further confidence:

Wexford Capital (the same guys running Marlin Gold posted above) = 13.8% of shares

Kirkland Lake – 12.68% of shares

Eric Sprott – 14.85% of shares

(see page 4 of the slide presentation below)

Brian – I’ve also grabbed a small stake in Beaufield Resources, because as you mentioned, sometimes it’s good to have 2-3 positions per area play. I’ve done the same thing in the Golden Triangle for PMs, the South Hounde belt in West Africa, the Silver trends in Zacatecas & Durango Mexico, the Walker Lane gold trend in Nevada, and the Athabasca Basin in Saskatchewan for Uranium exploration.

So where is the next area play going to be?

            Yukon???..Nunavet???…if you’re talking canada

            Sep 19, 2017 19:07 AM

Wolfster – Good points – the Yukon is finally getting investors attention again, and there are a number of good projects turning the drill bits at present.

Yes, Nunavut has a few Nickel/PGM/Copper/Cobalt plays going, but not too much excitement yet.

Same thing with some of the projects lining up in provinces like Nova Scotia and Newfoundland/Labrador.

I guess Red Lake is still an attractive area as well, but what we want to see are some new big discoveries that really light up a whole area and cause companies to scramble to get exposure. It will likely be blind discoveries under the surface cover that hit big at a little depth and really get investors and the industry fired up.

            Until then…..

It just occurred to me that if the US confiscate EVERY single cryptocurrency in the world (Which they couldn’t actually do) but if they did and applied all that looted money to the US national debt, the US national would only go down about 1%.

So why should they care? They’ve got much bigger problems to worry about.

Another black candle being put in by IPT.V today. Much lower lows incoming. Every single meager bounce is being sold.

Next stop .22. It’s in the bag.

Silver stocks at best are simply repeating what happened to $sugar in the late 90’s. $sugar was unable to penetrate the giant ichimoku cloud on its monthly chart, and subsequently took almost 4 years to break the high it achieved at the beginning of its bull run. I think something similar is definitely possible with most of these silver stocks. I would expect a low in in the silver stocks around about March 2018, which represents the nadir of the red ichimoku cloud in front of most of them. Thereafter the 2016 highs won’t be breached for another 3 or 4 years.

Another pullback (as mentioned) and another purchasing opportunity. This is the year to take positions. When looking at the charts the odds are that the bottom will now be in for many of the PM stocks on this pullback. The patient investor should be rewarded hugely in the future.

      Sep 19, 2017 19:43 AM

The question is, how low and for how long. Personally, I don’t see a bottom until spring 2018.

        Sep 19, 2017 19:34 AM

Spanky, price-plopping (going all in or all out at one price level) is what Stewart Thomson calls an Elmer Fudd strategy, and he is right. The vast majority of retail investors neither knows how to trade nor can recognize value yet deludes himself into believing that he is capable of nailing bottoms and tops. This must be so, otherwise, he would humbly scale in and scale out of all positions in acknowledgement of the fact that he does not own a crystal ball.

Therefore, right now is a fine time to do some buying even if you think you might get a better deal tomorrow. (This obviously might not apply to competent traders using liquid vehicles like GDX.)

Buy when you feel maximum doubt and discomfort not when you are full of confidence.

And when you’re feeling pretty pleased with yourself and the world, consider lightening up.

I’m still trying to get the hang of it :-/

          Sep 19, 2017 19:18 PM

Great comments Matthew. I’ve never understood why traders feel that they have to plop in and sell out all in 1 transaction, and have learned over years of trading to scale in and scale out to manage risk, and catch the meat of the moves.

            Sep 19, 2017 19:54 PM

It’s simply the deadly combination of human nature and a lack of experience. At a top, almost everyone thinks there’s more upside so greed keeps them from selling, and, at a low, almost everyone thinks there’s more downside so greed keeps them from buying.

The really funny thing is that so many people just assume that they are great enough to know precisely when to act even though their track records prove just the opposite.

        Sep 19, 2017 19:41 AM

For gold, it’s anybody’s guess. I wouldn’t be surprised if gold breaks significantly lower (as low as 1120-1160) however, just as gold outperformed the miners on this last move to the upside, I believe it will outperform the miners to the downside. Many of the miners will pull back the next few weeks but probably not significantly. Most folks will become tremendously bearish but the next few weeks and months will be the time to take significant positions. As mentioned many times in the past, 2017 will be the year for positioning one’s portfolio since the PM stocks would struggle—this will prepare one for a more interesting 2018.

          Sep 19, 2017 19:16 PM

Thanks for the good insights Doc. Looking forward to a very interesting 2018.
