Doc, just wanted to know your point of view for what kinds of physical metals you think are the best to invest in? Of the following silver and gold types, which do you prefer or what are the advantages or disadvantages: 90% silver, semi-numismatics, silver dollars, bullion coins etc. I currently hold gold sovereigns, eagles, 1/4 eagles and in silver: Morgans, Peace Dollars, silver maple leafs, silver eagles. I was wondering about kangaroos or other types. Which do you think have the best merit and why?

      Oct 05, 2017 05:13 AM

Doc, do have any Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, or Yogi Berra cards? I’ll swap you an Al Kaline or a Norm Cash for one of those. Thanks for sending Verlander to Houston. Go Astros!

BB; I have 2 boxes of baseball cards that go back years. They are still in the gum wrappers and I purchased them in the late 80s—in other words, I don’t have a clue what players are in those gum wrappers along with the gum. I recently gave all my loose baseball cards to my son-in-law who has a ton of cards.

          Oct 05, 2017 05:20 PM

Doc, all my BB cards are from 1959-1962 and filled an old Roi Tan cigar box. I have put the valuable ones in the bank box. I have all the great players from those years except Ted Williams. I think you would enjoy a 7 minute home film of the game between the Tigers and the Yankees played in Detroit on August 4, 1956 on youtube.com Mantle hit a HR and Kaline hit 2. It made me cry it was so beautiful.

            Oct 05, 2017 05:55 PM

Oops, Mantle hit 2 HR’s and a single and Kaline hit 2 HR’s on 8-4-56 at Briggs Stadium.

BB, My teenage brothers and I moved with our family from NJ to CA in 1960 and together we had several shoe boxes filled with baseball cards we had collected since 1951 with all of the greats you mentioned. They were all in one large cardboard moving box along with all of the family photos.

Sadly, when we moved pulling a UHaul trailer we left the moving company in charge to finish loading up the last few cartons. When the movers came to our house in CA all of the baseball cards and more important, all of our photographs from three generations, including old 1800’s tint types were not on the truck. Those boxes were in the garage waiting to be loaded on the truck and we believe the movers thought it was trash and dumped it. Whatever happened, if we had those mint condition cards today they certainly would be worth a great deal, but the photos are more valuable and more sorely missed. I learned never to let someone else pack your stuff.

Pardu, that’s a sad tale. When I came home from grad school at Indiana U. I found that my mom had thrown away all my Batman and Superman comic books from ’55-’58. But she left my box of baseball cards in my dresser alone.

      Oct 05, 2017 05:55 PM

HOPE DOC TAKES a stab at your question…….since he is a coin collector……..

      Oct 05, 2017 05:58 PM

Pardu, I personally have more silver bullion then gold and on dips am only purchasing gold bullion now. I sold my palladium recently due to the run up in palladium—tripled my gains. I am in the future going to start to focus on platinum as well as gold. I have numismatics and have over the years concentrated on getting a set of St. Gaudens 20 dollar gold pieces. I own other numismatics as well. I concentrate on PCGS gradings of 65 and above.

        Oct 05, 2017 05:08 PM

Doc, is the reason for investing in graded numismatics based on reporting requirements, or are they poised to do better than bullion? If one were to buy silver bullion coins that are not numismatic, what coins would you consider being the best way to go, US eagles or are other foreign bullion coins equally good such as maple leafs etc.?

    Oct 05, 2017 05:56 AM

Al, what is your point of view on what I asked Doc?

Trump, the New York liberal, says it is necessary to wipe out Puerto Rican debt.

    https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/oct/3/puerto-ricos-debt-will-have-be-wiped-out-trump-say/

    I ask the following questions:
If Puerto Rico wipes out the debt by default, does Trump have any idea of the impact on pension funds invested in the debt?
Does trump have any idea of the impact on the interest rate swap derivative market and on banks?

Suppose he bails out Puerto Rico by Federal funding of the obligations…..
Is Trump going to do the same for Illinois?
Is trump going to bail out Connecticut?
    What about Chicago debt?
    What about Californian debt?
What about New York?…..and on and on ….

What about the US debt load and collapse of the economy?

Seems to me that in kicking the can, eventually the foot gets hurt or broken.

House budget……….on in the hole another $1.5 Trillion….what a budget.
    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-10-05/house-passes-budget-jumps-first-smallest-hurdle-towards-tax-reform

      Oct 05, 2017 05:07 AM

“This budget isn’t about conservative policy or reducing the size of our debt and deficits. It’s not even about American families. This budget is about one thing – using budget reconciliation to ram through giant tax giveaways to the wealthy and big corporations – and to do it without bipartisan support,” said Rep. John Yarmuth (D-Ky.), the ranking member of the House Budget Committee.

        Oct 05, 2017 05:32 AM

1.5 Trillion was the number I posted yesterday to maintain the sixteen year average.
        Right on schedule.

          Oct 05, 2017 05:34 AM

You must have a hot line to Ryan………. 🙂

            Oct 05, 2017 05:35 AM

If, you do, tell him to go home……… 🙂

            Oct 05, 2017 05:40 AM

Actually I was a little off.Reviewing my notes the number was 1.526 Trillion.

            Oct 05, 2017 05:01 PM

I bet your number is closer…….than the Ryan number, they have never be able to stay on a budget, ….there is no debt ceiling, so, the budget number means nothing.

Congress better order up some more Black Tar Heroin. You know the hustle.
Make a little money.Kill a few people and get the rest hooked on opioids.

          Oct 05, 2017 05:06 PM

Instead of worrying about a budget……..Congress, should be going full steam ahead, Finding where the $21 Trillion missing funds is, and go after that ,,,,,,,,Claw back….

The number of Americans that die from correctly prescribed legal pharmaceuticals per year was estimated at 106,000 in the year 2000. Almost certainly substantially more by now.

“Using a weighted average of the 4 studies, a lower limit of 210,000 deaths per year was associated with preventable harm in hospitals. Given [data] limitations…the true number of premature deaths associated with preventable harm to patients was estimated at more than 400,000 per year. Serious harm seems to be 10- to 20-fold more common than lethal harm.”

            Good post GH.
I was listening to Dr Rima E Laibow. She is the wife of Major General Albert Stubblebine,Big Al would have liked him, military and all. 9/11-”OH MY GOD” you tube
Major General Stubblebine was the highest ranking U S military man to come out saying that 9/11 was an inside job.At one time he was in charge of Army Intelligence.
Dr. Laibow practices holistic medicine and has a site Drimatruth.com. She also has a video on u-tube called Nutricide.I haven’t watched it yet, from what I gathered it has to do with vaccines and population control.
Anyways she goes on to explain that the hospitals basically starve you to death when you are on I.V’s and are conditioned to tell families that you are old and would be better off dead.

            Oct 05, 2017 05:58 PM

re conditioned to tell families that you are old and would be better off dead.
I would agree with that statement…………….

            Good point Jerry.

            Oct 05, 2017 05:16 PM

I want to make sure there is no confusion on my state above .
I do not think ……..”old folks would be better off dead”, but, that I
Agree that hospitals and doctors would make a statement , and are conditioned .

            Dr Lima is a MD.

The US Empire mirrors The Fall Of The Roman Empire, eventually barbarians knocked out Rome’s water supply, but The US will be defeated by The Chinese and The Russians who will crash the worthless dollar. Water was Rome’s lifeline, in The US it is their fiat currency.

1 in 70 Americans use Heroin. An American dies every 32 minutes from Heroin.
Why is the on going policy in Afghanistan allowed to continue?
Oh ya I forgot. The War on Terror,Right?

    Oct 05, 2017 05:56 PM

To figure out whodunit, dealing millions of pounds of Afghan heroin to kill 165,000 Americans a decade, means and motives are key. Military and CIA foxes guarding the opium house are prime suspects. CIA people are grifters, they grift, lie, deceive, omit truth, con, trick, cheat, sexually assault, attempt to rape, rape, forced bestiality, promote prostitution, sex traffic, attempt to murder, murder, serial kill, mass murder, rob, steal, terrorize, menace, gang stalk, brutalize, torture, blacklist, blackmail, experiment on people, deal drugs and worse. What else does CIA smuggle besides drugs, anyone or anything can be smuggled on drug routes. CIA felons smuggled kilos of heroin from Vietnam to US (1970’s) in Soldier’s body bags. CIA felons make money dealing drugs. CIA dealing tons of crack cocaine in the USA (1980’s) was a dry run for CIA dealing thousands of tons of heroin from US-occupied Afghanistan (2001-present
