Doug Casey has been predicting a financial meltdown for at least fifteen years, I mean on the style of a 1930’s event, it will happen but when? It has been good for Doug Casey and his followers.

I agree with Jeff Deist that the stock market boom is banker induced.
By dropping interest rates they have significantly reduced investments in CDs and normal interest producing investments. With “nowhere else to go” people have chosen to buy stocks for their dividends and a booming market has also produced capital gains.
When the market turns, I hate to think how bad and how fast the collapse will be.

Yikes Al you should have discussed the tax bill with Jeff and kept to your libertarian ethos. This tax bill is horrible for me, my bill will increase along with many other successful businessmen and professionals. I distain the attitude among the tax “winners” who extol the benefits of tax law changes because it is always people like me that pay for it.

      Dec 30, 2017 30:20 AM

mark, are you the same SDMark that hasn’t posted here for a long time, that word yikes sounds familiar, anyway I hope you are well and enjoying yourself. DT

As my old CPA told me, “your income puts you in the top 1% you should consider yourself lucky and just pay the “membership dues”.

I have to say Mark that I agree with him.

Msrk, why do you use static accounting?

As long as we have the millstone of excessive taxation, the US economy has little possibility other than decline.
History is replete with examples of decay of even the greatest nations. It ALWAYS results from war and over-taxation , or Government over-spending amd over-taxing.

Just show me ONE nation that has died by UNDER-taxing its people.

    Dec 30, 2017 30:13 AM

    Mark,
How does cutting the corporate tax rate almost in half, hurt your bottom line? Please explain. Thanks

      Dec 30, 2017 30:16 AM

I have the same question Chartster.

      Dec 30, 2017 30:49 PM

My taxes will go up because my county and school taxes of 21K will get only a 10K deduction next year, but it’s worth it to see the liberals go insane under Donaldus Magnus.

    Dec 30, 2017 30:16 AM

FWIW, Trump wanted a 15% corporate rate (which I loved) and congress wanted higher. Congress got it up to 21%.

      Dec 30, 2017 30:16 AM

From the starting point 21% is just fine.

Early bonuses is kind of crummy when we are all trying to help the economy and consequently help the entire country and its people.

China Eliminates Taxation For Foreign Companies Investing in China

China has responded to global competition that is exploding in the wake of the Trump Tax Reform. While domestic news in the USA continues to bash the tax reform on class warfare, the rest of the world is trying to come to terms with what Trump has set in motion. China’s response is to allow foreign companies complete tax-free business on any profits they reinvest in China upping the stakes. Their position was stated by the Ministry of Finance and it is designed to “foster the growth of foreign investment, improve the quality of foreign investment, and encourage foreign investors to continuously expand their investment in China.” The tax exemption applies retroactively from January 1st, 2017 beating Trump at his own game once more. Foreign companies who have paid taxes in China for 2017 will be refunded.

Domestically, companies in China are already complaining about rising costs that are caused by raising taxes. They have warned that this could lead to production relocations. The standard corporate tax rate is 25% in China. In order to benefit from the newly announced tax rebates, foreign companies have to meet several requirements. These include direct investment in industries promoted by the government in Beijing. Also, the money must flow directly to the companies.

The tax game is now afoot. The big loser will be Europe because they are far more entangled with the socialist agenda than anyone else with New Zealand and Australia fighting for second place in the uncompetitive tax burden race to the top.

Just like Japan when it became a powerhouse of economic expansion in the 1980’s and the world was singing that song “I think I’m turning Japanese I really think so'”, and many thought they would be the premier world economy, China’s economy will follow the same path. China has lost it’s advantage but most haven’t seen the turnaround yet. China has too many problems and they have lost their cheap labor advantage. The decline has set in and it will never be the world’s premier economic power.

        Dec 30, 2017 30:59 AM

Of course that is possible Mr Tracy.☺

      Dec 30, 2017 30:57 AM

Figured China would do that. Actually good for them as it does make sense for them.

      Excelsior,
It’s articles like this that are coming out all over that makes it obvious …that! It’s becoming obvious that phyz gold will be recorded on the blockchain. Which BTW…is probably the only way to control what countries, central banks and platforms that can house gold and price gold. Which is how you save the debt system and go to the gold standard.
And how they get the masses to agree? They pump up something as stupid as Bitcoin to the stratosphere and get all of us looking at that! While most don’t like Bitcoin, we respect the blockchain and think it’s here to stay.

Without bitcion being pumped up, we never would accept gold going to the blockchain.

..my..my how they play us like a fiddle! Those that created this deal are slick as owl sh~t. And we all sit around wondering why gold is (give or take a buck fifty) stuck at 1200 for over 4 years..

      We’ve been played my friend..

When the gold standard does hit, say bye bye to bitcion…

        Dec 30, 2017 30:40 AM

Until the ALL CENTRAL BANKS are eliminated, I seriously doubt there will be any gold standard. I use to be hopeful, but, I serious doubt the system is going to change anytime soon……….Hopeful but doubtful ………JMO

          Dec 30, 2017 30:00 AM

They can’t be eliminated. But they can be nationalized…

Let’s hope Teflon Don does away with ” debt slavery “.

          https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/president-donald-j-trump-proclaims-january-2018-national-slavery-human-trafficking-prevention-month/

            Dec 30, 2017 30:58 AM

I believe we could in fact do away with the CENTRAL BANK(s).. A few times during the history of the US, I think Jackson along with Lincoln busted the Central Banks…Since both understood the bondage part that the Rothchilds/Central Banks, had in store for the Republic.
We have been over the illicit act of the creation of the FED in 1913 several times.

You have been very active in telling us about the Act of 1871, and the Berth certificate, Strawman, BAR Law, …..I am surprised at this juncture you are still so optimistic…..Hopeful but doubtful……….OOTB… 🙂

            Dec 30, 2017 30:02 PM

            BTW……..I always enjoy your comments……………OOTB

            Dec 30, 2017 30:47 PM

            OOTB,
You don’t have to eliminate the fed. Just give monetary policy back to the treasury. That should solve most of the problems, IMO.

At this juncture, it’s hard not to be optimistic. All the dots are connecting that lead us to the gold standard. There’s just one thing that I’m looking at that needs to be done, and for all I know, it could be done already.

It should be an exciting 2018.
            Happy New Year!!

        Dec 30, 2017 30:26 PM

Chartster, yes, i’ve read some comments from others that have made the case that this initial wave of Bitcoin and crypto currency fever, is just to pave the way into acceptance of gold using the blockchain smart ledger. (then it could be traceable in theory).

There have been other efforts (like the GoldMoney crew) that have been trying to develop an efficient means of “Digital Gold” that was also portable and spendable for some time. New incarnations, like what we are currently seeing with the Royal Canadian Mint & their new blockchain, may have been an inevitable idea whose time has come. I do think it allows a new level of “snooping” if the governments are so inclined as all transactions would in fact have a digital record of processing on the ledger, but it isn’t something that keeps me up at night.

Good thoughts though and something interesting to mull over.

      Dec 30, 2017 30:01 AM

That is I did not know that. 😉

AJ, Peurta Rico suffers from a lot of self inflicted wounds besides the hurricane and rampant corruption. Overwhelming Florida will mot do the trick. Blame Trump for crappy infrastructure? If congress doesn’t get off their cans, the US will end up in the same condition. The U.S. had a few hurricanes of their own.

Since Puerto Rico is a U.S. Territory only government employees pay federal income tax. All other employers and employees do not pay federal income taxes.

After reading more about T.ANX I did some more addaconda of my anaconda on Friday. Thanks for all the great articles Ex, LOL! DT

    Dec 30, 2017 30:46 AM

Dick Tracy smart move IMHO addaconding (I like that phrase )to your ANX position. Lots of news on horizon. Latest drill results that were part of the Unknown Geologist input. Updated PEA, some new Green ideas being explored that actually generate income from normal items associated with expense. This company had turned the corner and is building up steam.

Hi Mickey, I know you were one of the best home run hitters The New York Yankees ever had. In investing hitting it out of the park takes a lot of luck and skill, I’m sure you will live up to your reputation. DT

DT – Mickey Mantle is much more informed on ANX than I am, and he is fountain of knowledge on what they may lock into at Goldboro as they further explore things. He is pointing to left field and indicating this one may be a home run.

Also Segment 3 was interesting about barging over material from Goldboro to process at their Pointe Rousse mill.

I’ve thought part of their longer term plan was to barge over material from Viking as well.

Mickey, I saw you hit the first HR in the Astrodome in April of 1965, the first indoor HR ever.

        Dec 31, 2017 31:33 AM

Hard to beat seeing Mantle hit a home run. I saw Hank Aaron hit many in the Dome. Mantle hitting one in a National League park is more rare.

Ringing In 2018 With Jim Willie – TF Metals Report

Our old friend, Jim Willie, joins us for our annual tradition where we wrap up the year that was and look ahead to the year that will be.

As we like to do, we simply had three primary topics for The Jackass. The questions are framed and then Jim fills in the blanks. As we wrap 2017 and look toward 2018, the topics are:

    1. Interest rates, QE and the global bond market
    2. The accelerating movement toward de-dollarization and risks to the petrodollar
    3. How geo-politics and war are impacted by #2 above

You’ll no doubt enjoy this 65-minute call. It’s going to be a wildly unpredictable and volatile 2018. My hope for everyone listening is that it begins with a safe and relaxing New Year’s weekend.

I added 63,000 shares of JAG on the recent pullback to 31 cents…

Matthew, thanks for mentioning JAG—they went off my radar. I’ll wait to purchase some at 26 cents.

        Dec 30, 2017 30:56 PM

I will buy there too if I get the chance. I thought that big daily chart gap was going to get filled before it moved up yet again. Now I’m not sure it will at all.

        http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=JAG.TO&p=D&yr=0&mn=7&dy=9&id=p96504504767&a=564948423

          Dec 30, 2017 30:59 PM

Matthew, was JAG a 35$ dollar stock in middle of 2013? If so why such the drop.

            Dec 30, 2017 30:46 PM

Whit they had one of the most epic falls from grace during the bear market in PMs, followed by a reverse-split so pulling up a longer term chart is mind-boggling. This is how much better Jaguar Mining is as a value today (post-restructuring) than most even realize. Eric Sprott did though, and has been buying a big chunk in this company over the last year or two.

JAG was a very solid Mid-tier at around $6 in the last cycle and in 2010 & 2011. Many ETFs featured it, and it was a regular stock tracked on Kitco etc… However their costs were sloppy back then (like most of the producers), and when the metals prices pulled back they got crushed under the gravity of that. I used it at the time of an example of just how far a stock can fall during a bear.

JAG went into credit protection in either 2013 or 2014, and then emerged in 2015 with all of their assets & mines, but they had done a reverse split, to fix their balance sheet and then were largely ignored. This is why the longer term chart looks even more extreme.

Personally, I had owned JAG back in 2010 and 2011 and money on a few trades, but then got burnt bad on that one in 2012. I watched the implosion with great interest, and checked in ever few months to see when they would come back to liver. I started getting positioned in late 2015 and early 2016, and it had quite a move up in 2016, but still a long long way to go to ever is going to get it’s valuation back up to where it once was.

Currently JAG has 3 active mines in 2 acting mining complexes, and another mine/processing center on care and maintenance. They also have a few other exploration projects in the pipeline.

JAG has done a great deal to lower their costs, improve their efficiencies, and improve their mining operations over the last 2 years, and when the worm turns in the metals prices, they are set for a major re-rating.

Also lately, there have been a ton of positive drill results as they’ve been hitting paydirt all around their mines and extending mine life and proving they’ve got a lot more of the goods.

JAG is one of the smallish Mid-Tier producers that I’ve bet most heavily on, and when they had the fund that was just liquidating them earlier this year, I took full advantage of adding with both hands.

I also picked JAG in one of the 3 Stock Picking contest for 2018 over on ceo.ca.

It is very undervalued compared to similar peers doing 100,000 – 110,000 ounces of Gold production per year. That puts it up next to other smaller Mid-tiers and I believe a huge re-rating is coming in this stock.

            Cheers!

            Dec 30, 2017 30:48 PM

Correction: “and checked in ever few months to see when they would come back to liver…” should have said

“and I checked in every few months to see when they would come back to life.”

            Dec 30, 2017 30:09 PM

Whit, JAG was a mid-tier or large junior that was very poorly managed and filed for bankruptcy. Today, it is an all new company with a completely different management team that is very competent.

I never owned a single share until early 2016.

On the following chart, you can see that it tripled after I said that its day was coming soon…

            http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=JAG.TO&p=D&st=2016-02-18&en=2017-12-30&&id=p10485641591&a=531539241

Today, it is in even better shape and its potential is far greater than a triple, in my opinion.

      Dec 30, 2017 30:02 PM

Nice Matthew. I’m also all JAG’d up and ready to go. I piled in during the recent selloff when that fund was liquidating, and honestly already expected it back up in the .40’s and ready to challenge $1 when Gold get’s up around $1400 in later 2018.

        Dec 30, 2017 30:11 PM

Ex, I bet we see 1400 in the first half. The question is, will it hang onto that level after the first poke above it.

          Dec 30, 2017 30:16 PM

I believe that the 2016 high of $1377.50 is going down for sure, and then next up is the old prior peak at $1392 which I’d like to see a solid close above (preferably on the weekly). Then $1400 is a round psychological level, but I could see the $1430’s or so before retreating IF it can get solidly above $1392 and stay there for a few days.

This is where looking at a Fib Extention level may be useful or an Eliot Wave projection. I haven’t checked in on Gary Wagner yet this weekend but I believe he had a scenario where it got up solidly above $1400 on a certain wave count.

        – Deepest intercept reported to date is on level 16 with 3.80g/t Au over 11.05m (ETW 4.30m) including 5.25g/t Au over 3.55m (ETW 1.38m).

        – The downward extension of Orebody C is ideally positioned approximately 250 meters away from the principal ramp infrastructure of Orebody A ”

“Rodney Lamond, President and Chief Executive Officer, Jaguar Mining commented “We are very pleased to announce these positive results and the successful start of our growth exploration drilling program at Turmalina. Drilling from the first 18 holes focused on targeting down-plunge extensions to the high-grade Orebody A at depth, while also targeting extensions of Orebody C at shallower depths. These results confirm significant wide, high-grade gold mineralization within the primary orebodies at Turmalina. The multiple high-grade intercepts validate the geological model and confirm significant upside potential to grow the resource base at Turmalina….. We look forward to reporting updated mineral resources and mineral reserves in early 2018 that will reflect the excellent results we have achieved throughout this year.”

I believe that resource update in early 2018 may be the trigger on their rerating as analysts will finally realize how much good work they’ve done on growing & extending their mine life. Of course the technical set up looks ripe as well, but that is a pretty solid fundamental data point to anticipate. (it will surprise to the upside).

Sorry – their guidance is 87,000 – 92,000 for 2017 so they aren’t quite over the 100,000 threshold yet. My apologies, as initially they thought they’d exceed 100K but had to adjust their guidance mid year as they needed a little work to one of their mines mid year. Still I believe they can make it up to 100K ounces in 2018, and if they brought back their other mine & mill on care & maintenance they could add another 20K+ in production to the annual mix. Higher gold prices above $1400 may encourage them to bring it back into production.

Al, your statement that isis “is taken care of” is telling of how much people know of whats happening in the middle east.

Kudos to Daniel McAdams for knowing a bit of whats happening.

The U.S. has preserved 10 thousand isis guys,
those are for the New Syrian Army Daniel mentioned, new alright, lol, how about hardened veterens completely armed and outfitted by the U.S.?

Daniel is right about Trump not starting any new wars yet,
thats not for lack of trying.

Recall the Tomahawks sent to the Syrian airbase?
And the Russians used an emp to drop the entire first wave of 36, thats why the americans sent a second wave of 23. Total of 59.

The Russians figured they had made their point so let the 23 fall without much issue.
Most of those missed their target.

Remember the “red” line of chemical weapons? Putin outmanuvered the US with that and every single time has done so since.
You would think it would get embarrasing for the US military.

The US is easily as aggressive as they were at the time of Iraq.
The dif is Iraq was basically defenseless, now the nations the U.S. are targeting can defend themselves.

THats why the neocons are so dangerous, the nations they threaten can eliminate us all in a heartbeat.
Dont fall for Rickards and his “we have hypersonic missles”, so does Russia, and they are all set by pewters to go off the second an american missle is launched.

Long story shorter,, lol, is ISIS is not taken care of.

Chris’ comments on North Korea deserve some thought. How somebody gets to 40% numerical odds is crazy. Guess I’ll focus on the 60% that it won’t happen. Personally, I’m thinking trump thinks he could ‘win’. It will if it happens swiftly become nuclear I believe, at least on our side. Big loser will be S. Korea and the metro area of Seoul. Could be a couple million casualties. Japan is also at risk but at least they can’t be smashed by artillery. Neither will give trump their permission for war. If it happens, it will be all trump…..Japan and S.Korea would never jump into a war unless attacked. I think little fat boy is smarter than our big fat boy and won’t pull the first trigger. Under the right goading, trump would.
Second big geo-political worry is trump tearing up the Iran agreement and/or getting us into a war for the sake of Saudi Arabia/Israel politicians. This would be another huge mistake. Simply not hopeful that our future is in good hands! JMO

      b
      Dec 30, 2017 30:35 PM

I cant see Korea firing the first shot.
There is zero advantage for them to do so.

The us could squish them like a bug, but they will let loose some damaging stuff before they are finished.

They could nuke a western city, maybe Anaheim. maybe Las Vegas.

Maybe they have just one emp.
Thats all it would really take to end life as we know it.

The question is “are the neocons that insane” they would risk it?
      Is their agenda really 21?
Do those Georgia guide stone have actual meaning?

Anyone hear that twilight zone tune?

    Belkin Report. Sweet on silver………..https://kingworldnews.com/michael-belkin-12-30-17/

      Dec 30, 2017 30:04 PM

Thanks for the link. I could not agree with Belkin more.

        Dec 30, 2017 30:03 PM

What did Belkin say? My browser on my Imac is 8 years old and I can’t get the interviews on Kingworld News anymore. And when I go to Stockcharts.com or Kitco.com I get the spinning pinwheel and then the computer crashes. And I can’t download a new browser either. I wonder how much longer I’ll get Kereport? I can’t get Drudge anymore but I can still get Breitbart. Help!

          Dec 30, 2017 30:09 PM

Deleted warning from Michael Belkin’s KWN audio interview: “The Fed kept the Fed funds rate at zero percent for eight years (2009-2017) for no reason. Now they are raising the Fed funds rate at a snail’s pace — 25 basis points — 3 or 4 times a year. Starting from zero, they will never get the fed funds rate high enough to start cutting it before the next recession. In the last two recessions, the Fed had to cut the fed funds rate by 5% (500 basis points) to get the economy to turn around, from 6.5% to 1% (Dec 2000 to Jul 2003) and from 5.25% to zero (Sep 2007 to Dec 2008). With the current fed funds rate at 1.25%, the Fed has little room to cut rates when the economy hits the wall. The Fed wants to get rates up to 2%-3% before the next rate cut cycle starts. Got that? The Fed is raising rates to cut them and reducing its balance sheet to expand it. Let that sink in.

            Dec 30, 2017 30:12 PM

hey waited way too long to cut rates and a (business cycle) contraction will force their hand into a policy reversal. The Fed’s worst nightmare is causing a depression via a too-tight monetary policy. The Fed probably wants to cut rates by 5% in the next recession, which is inevitably coming. The current US expansion is now 103 months long, more than twice the length of the average expansion. The economy is held up by a speculative stock market bubble that the Fed created with ultra-low interest rates. When stocks begin to trade down, consumer confidence will fall, spending will drop, retail sales will decline, companies will cut back production, unemployment will rise, etc. The Fed will be forced to ease monetary policy and cut rates again.

Bernanke repeatedly said Fed policy is 98% talk, 2% action. All they care about is creating false consensus expectations so they can manipulate markets. The Fed’s words are bullshit, designed to deceive. Behind closed doors they know exactly what I’m saying is true, that a recession is approaching and they will have to reverse monetary policy, but they don’t want you to know it. Why raise rates now? What’s the big urgency? They totally blew it, interest rates should have risen 5 years ago but they did QE3 instead. Now they are raising rates to cut them.

            Dec 31, 2017 31:42 AM

KWN is making it sound as if the government some how deleted a portion of Belkin’s interview which is nonsense. The government does not care what Belkin says. KWN has had this same thing happen in the past. It is called technical difficulties. Nothing more.

            b
            Dec 31, 2017 31:18 AM

            I read that Belkin bit.
It is nothing that hasnt already been said repeatedly.

KWN is all sensationalism and buy buy buy.

            Dec 31, 2017 31:38 AM

JMiller, years ago, even Jim Puplava has said his site was attacked by powerful interests (his IT guy told him so). Neither Jim nor Eric said it was the government but you’ve got some work to do if you don’t believe that your gov (and those who own it) cares what kind of info you are exposed to.

            Dec 31, 2017 31:39 AM

Btw, I have no idea if there’s anything to King’s claim now and I don’t care one way or the other. Belkin is simply right about silver stocks and King is right to deploy a large amount of money.

How many have noticed how the swamp media was very good at dealing with RP yet employed none of the same insidious tactics when taking on Trump. The reason is, Trump represents “change” that the real masters are fine with.

            For 2018 I think.

As for thinking that far ahead, remember the story of asking a chinese government official, how did the french revolution affect china?
He answered, too soon to tell.

I think this is all planned out, the cryptos, the debt, intrest rates, Trump, everything.
Course we all have “free will”. so maybe Im wrong.

            Dec 31, 2017 31:57 AM

Yes, the planners absolutely plan way ahead. They speak openly about their intentions, too. They’re like farmers who know they don’t have to lower their voices around the livestock they’re about to slaughter. It’s no accident that the sheeple can’t process the world around them.

“The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, and our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of…. It is they who pull the wires that control the public mind.” — Edward Bernays, “Propaganda” 1928

What I suggest is you try to dowload an old version of Firefox.

I just listened and also agree with his comments that don’t pertain to silver. Eric King has it right, too. Life-changing gains are coming but the bull will continue to make it hard for most people to hang on.

      b
      Dec 30, 2017 30:55 PM

Geez, thats surprising, a kwn interview that promotes buying PMs.
I stopped listening they repeated “buy” so often.

Powers That Be Delete Key Portion Of Michael Belkin’s Audio Interview They Did Not Want Broadcast To The Public. from KWN

Seems Im not the only one with tin foil hat.

        Dec 30, 2017 30:30 PM

Detail is obviously not your thing. If you could get past King’s funny sensationalism, you’d find that he does not say to buy as often as you think and certainly does not often say that HE is buying, much less buying heavily.

          b
          Dec 30, 2017 30:04 PM

I couldnt help myself and listened to the rest.
The last….idano how long…. was buy buy buy a subscription.
Eric mentioned he is already loaded.

Nothing wrong with it, its just that its always the same thing.

I listen to Celente,PCR and Mr Price when theyre on, rogers, faber, even Turk sometimes, but ya gotta know that most of his interviews are buy buy buy.
          Never anything new.

Which is ok actually, PMs is finite.

Once ya know what a mesothermal system is(for example, advantages and disadvantages) ya dont have to read it over and over again.

As for details, your right, I did all my detail stuff years ago, and low and behold, when PMs move I make money, thats because I picked miners with years of life to them.
And they are all still digging.(there are more excellent companies than I have coin for these markets)(i dont trust them theyre criminal)

So, until the mines I know go broke, I am thankfully not needing to do any due diligence.

The bigger question for me is not are PMs going to move, but are they going to move more than pot.

I own both and pot has not been too bad this year, 50 cents to $10 beats the heck out bank interest. lol

PMs? well, we got a spike with novo.

            Dec 30, 2017 30:14 PM

It sounds visit KWN a lot more than I do. I rarely bother for any guest but I have noticed instances when King is advising caution for some reason or another (COTs, etc). I view the adds for junior miners separately from the show — just as I do at this site or when reading articles at 321gold.

RIOT blockchain went from $4 to $46 in just a few weeks and then fell down into the 20’s. I traded some in the 30’s and 20’s after the bubble burst but did not make much.
It could go back to $2 to $4 where it started. Mining in thin air. Can’t see any value in this area.

      Dec 30, 2017 30:14 PM

I see value to the miners but believe HIVE, KASH, and BLOC represent more solid companies. Many outlets had individuals that voiced their concerns about the behind the scenes on RIOT and hence the large pullback. I mentioned on here twice that I wouldn’t touch it with a bargepole, but of course everyone should do their own DD.

I’ve heard the guys over at Bunker Hill Mining (who used to run US Silver and Gold before Darren Blasutti was brought in to clean up their operations and merge it with Scorpio Mining) are recruiting some of their guys over to their nearby project. There are probably people wanting a better wage in a competitive marketplace and it sound like they didn’t accept the better offer. Something to keep an eye on, but their main focus is now San Rafael in Mexico which will be operating at negative cash costs in 2018 due to all the Zinc and Lead credits. Galena definitely supports the operation in Idaho but if they need a month or two to work things out, it won’t be life altering (like the problems Primero had with their strike when they were hemorrhaging money and buried in debt). Americas Silver is on much more solid footing and will likely get it worked out and move forward.

      Dec 21, 2017 – (USAS) (USA)

“The San Rafael Mine is expected to drive significant earnings and cash flow at current metals prices for the Company’s shareholders starting in Q1, 2018 and over the life of the mine. It is projected to provide a substantial reduction in the consolidated cash costs and all-in sustaining costs. The mine was developed on-time and on budget for approximately US$17 million from internally-generated and existing resources. The Company expects to provide consolidated guidance for fiscal 2018 to the market in late January 2018.”

“We are pleased at achieving this significant milestone for the Company,” said Daren Dell, Americas Silver’s Chief Operating Officer. “This mine will be the cornerstone of our Mexican operations and provide cash flow for further drilling and development of our Zone 120 resource, as well as future exploration on our greater land position in the Cosalá district without equity dilution. I would like to thank the entire staff of the Cosalá Operations who successfully brought the San Rafael mine into production while sustaining operations without significant interruption at the Company’s Nuestra Senora mine.”

Australian Banks Reportedly Freeze Accounts Of Bitcoin Users

Adding to the pressures on bitcoin early this morning, the Sydney Morning Herald reported that bitcoin users across Australia are reporting that their accounts have been abruptly frozen by the country’s “Big Four” banks. And while the banks have remained largely tight-lipped about the closures, many angry account-holders are jumping to conclusions and blaming the banks for punishing them because of their involvement with bitcoin.

You guys have got to top saying that “old people” aren’t into cryptos. I’m 62 years old and I’ve been trading in cryptos for the past three years.

Yeah, I have my stocks and precious metals. And the money in cryptos is all FREE RIDE money now.

A good friend of mine (in his early 20s) was investing in stocks. I turned HIM onto cryptos. So he is now diversified several different ways.

      Dec 31, 2017 31:31 AM

How about old people who don’t care to keep up with technology???…..yes even millennials who don’t care too much for technology are clueless about cryptos too but there are far less of them vs old people…my dad still uses dial up cuz he rarely uses the Internet….he’s a mover. Can’t sit still and has enough money for his retirement

    Dec 30, 2017 30:18 PM

Do you know who the “old people” are that won’t get into cryptos? It’s all the professional investors and financial advisors. THEY are the ones pooh-poohing cryptos.

For the first time in many years, GDX closed every month of an entire year above the 50 month moving average. For that and many other reasons, it is now a better looking buy than it was two years ago — if “better” means lower risk.

Silver made it back above $17 again and the miners already sprang to life. If Silver gets back up above $18 again, things will get rather peppy.

If Silver can break above $20 by the end of 2018, then that will get enough excitement going in the sector to entice new retail investors not normally positioned in the sector, but far more important will be when the hedge funds and institutional funds come back into the PM space. Just a small trickle of money flow into this very tiny sector – The Jr Silver Miners – will produce out-sized gains and a bevvy of multi-baggers.

Could be good, could be bad. Their asset is great, but apparently they are going to take a new direction. I’d like to see Peter’s relationship as a Director of the board play match-maker with Americas Silver and have USAS take over DEF. They need a larger company with deeper projects to help fund the exploration work there to show the market just what they are sitting on.

deeper projects = deep “pockets”. They need a bigger exploration warchest.

    – Note: most have pulled back to or below the 20 day, but are still above the 50 day MA.

This looks like a good zone to add to Uranium positions for a potential stretch rally into Jan to me. I added most of my positions before Thanksgiving, but I’m going to add a bit more to Uranium miners to kick off the new year. I started nibbling and adding this last week to some of the names I like.

        Dec 31, 2017 31:25 PM

The weekly chart is less clear but I’d be a seller (if I had any left) if it goes significantly higher anytime soon (i.e., before correcting for awhile).

*But, but, but: If you’re not really a trader, then I’d focus on buying major weakness more than selling out here. Big picture, it is probably just getting started and the new year could see a flood of money come into resources in general that could surprise us all. A dollar plunge would help that possibility and a stock market turning bearish could help even more. In that event, UEX could shoot much higher very quickly and very soon before finally taking the break that many might think is starting right now. That would leave sellers like me looking big-picture stupid. The monthly chart and volume supports this possibility.

The revelation comes days after South Korea said it was holding a Hong Kong-flagged ship and crew members over transferring petroleum products to a North Korean vessel in international waters in October. The Lighthouse Winmore is believed to have transferred about 600 tons of refined petroleum products to the North Korean ship in international waters in the East China Sea, according to the Foreign Ministry.

Ship-to-ship trade with North Korea at sea is prohibited under U.N. sanctions adopted Sept. 11.

Crisis For Mueller: Lindsey Graham Demands New Special Counsel To investigate Trump Dossier & FBI

Senator Lindsey Graham, previously one of President Trump’s most trenchant critics, has now made the extent of his disillusionment with the FBI’s conduct and with the whole Russiagate investigation crystal clear…

Here is how Byron York of the Washington Examiner reports Lindsey Graham’s comments

I’ve spent some time in the last couple of days, after a lot of fighting with the Department of Justice, to get the background on the dossier, and here’s what I can tell your viewers: I’m very disturbed about what the Department of Justice did with this dossier, and we need a special counsel to look into that, because that’s not in Mueller’s charter. And what I saw, and what I’ve gathered in the last couple of days, bothers me a lot, and I’d like somebody outside DOJ to look into how this dossier was handled and what they did with it.

        Mr. Moriarty,
I guess some people as they get older don’t read too carefully.
I did not say I hate Muslims.
I disagree with some of their beliefs, specifically:
        1. It is not a religion of tolerance or peace, despite what they may claim.
        2. I find its teaching with regard to women highly misogynistic and unacceptable in modern society.
In sum, I find he religion archaic and in need of reform.
To feel that people are following a religion better suited to the middle ages is hardly the same as hating those people. Please do not attempt to mischaracterize my words.

          Jan 01, 2018 01:18 AM

          Further, I will say again.
I consider Muslim terrorists who deliberately target INNOCENT people as Islamic Scum.
I realize it is easier to target random people on the street in the US or Europe, especially since many are Christians, and kill them with bombs or cars, but such people are not the persons responsible for inflicting hurt on Muslims. They are not to blame and they are not the persons responsible. They are just an easy target for non-peaceful Muslims.

I have never heard you say a word about the constant flow of news about war crimes on the part of the IDF. Maybe that’s why they honored you with your own street name.

And you do hate Muslims or you would be less one sided in everything you post. You protest way too much. You don’t give a damn about Jewish terrorists, only Muslim terrorists.

I find all religions archaic and in need of reform.

            R.M,
I did, indeed, post an article just a few days ago regarding Zionists being charged with crimes.
I cannot help it if you don’t read everything I post.
I usually don’t post anything over a day or two old, so unless there is an article about jewish crimes coming out almost everyday , it won’t be posted by me.

            CFS,

I have read your repeated references to ‘Islamic Scum’.

One could do the same, speaking of ‘Christian Scum’ or ‘Jewish Scum’, but no one at KER does becauit’s a reprehensible way to talk.

Would Big Al be okay if I start to put my objections to Christian and Jewish actions in those terms? I don’t think KER should tolerate it.

The Apex of Hard Assets – Go BIG**
In 18 years of investing, I’ve reviewed what must now be thousands of companies and opportunities. It’s been a wild ride. By far, alerting you to Bitcoin at $400 (a 4,775% return) and Dash at $30 (36-times your original capital invested) was as early and undervalued as we’ve come thus far – cryptocurrencies owned 2017 like nothing else.

Meanwhile, the resource sector has endured 7 years of carnage, which were an absolute bloodbath – many stocks have been butchered and others even cease to exist.

    It’s shocking.

That’s why Randy Smallwood, who is regarded by billionaire natural resource tycoons as the “man who has never made a single mistake in his entire career,” has only pulled the trigger on 3 deals in 18 months!

You can’t go any higher in the echelons of mining than Mr. Smallwood:
He’s integrally involved with founding Silver Wheaton, which is praised as having the best business model on Earth – it’s a masterpiece enterprise and a $10B company today.

He’s a key exploration geologist with Wheaton River Minerals, which he was instrumental in merging with Goldcorp, the world’s largest gold company, in 2005.
I’ve watched this genius in action, and he is a ruthless and surgical capital allocator. As I see it, looking back at his illustrious career, he hasn’t made even a single mistake.

There’s no room for error when he vets a streaming deal for his shareholders. You see, Mr. Smallwood heads Wheaton Precious Metals, and they are unparalleled when it comes to creating profitable deals – conducting due diligence takes them 3-4 months, and they don’t miss a single thing. When they’re done looking over your operation, they have the layout all worked out.

We’re partnering, as shareholders, with Wheaton Precious Metals on their newest investment, and we’re getting in at unbeatable timing.

Think of it this way: it’s the same as Warren Buffett vetting an insurance stock you’re looking to position in, and he ends up wanting a cut for himself as well!

Randy Smallwood has positioned WPM as a significant shareholder in Kutcho Copper, which has only been trading for 2 weeks and we can join them right now.

Consider GOING BIG: Kutcho Copper (TSX-V: KC & US: DSRRF)!

I’m personally making this deal my largest copper position ever.

This isn’t a small deal, either: Wheaton Precious Metals is coming in with tens of millions of dollars UPFRONT.

Get this – 2008 was the last time Wheaton took an equity position in any public company alongside a streaming deal. Kutcho is the first convertible loan they have ever done. Kucho is now the biggest ownership Wheaton has ever taken in a junior development company.

We’re getting this opportunity at the earliest innings – you’ve reached the pinnacle of quality and the top for value investing.

Since Wealth Research Group was founded 2 years ago, I’ve been on the hunt for a copper opportunity, as China is considering this metal as a national priority and electric vehicles are relying on steady supply.

This is the one. It’s completely under the radar – in fact, they just got their tickers approved!

I’ll have all the details for you tomorrow at 08:00AM CST.

**IMPORTANT NOTE: The US OTC Symbol Might Show Up On Several Exchanges as Desert Star Resources, Which is the Previous Name of Kutcho Copper – That is Absolutely the Correct Symbol. ***

        Jan 01, 2018 01:33 PM

        From that article:

“That’s why Randy Smallwood, who is regarded by billionaire natural resource tycoons as the “man who has never made a single mistake in his entire career,”

What about (P) Primero Mining ?

          Jan 01, 2018 01:35 PM

What about their giant tax snafu with the Canadian government?

            Jan 01, 2018 01:37 PM

What about all the controversy around the Pascua-Lama project of Barrick Gold?

Most of the extremely successful people I’ve met or read biographies on have a number of failures as well as successes and Randy Smallwood and Wheaton Precious Metals is no different.

For all of us it is opportunity mixed with difficulty.

She looked to me like she was hopped up during the campaign. Age and disease catches up to us all, the rich and powerful, and the poor alike. The US dodged a bullet when she lost. Can you imagine her trying to run the country from her Hospital bed and all the lobbyists pouring in with cash in their hands, not a pretty picture. DT

Here is a follow up on the Trump Executive order and orders surrounding HILLY AND BILLY
        https://www.roguemoney.net/blog/2017/12/27/trumps-quiet-little-executive-order-proclaims-clintons-as-national-threat

          Jan 01, 2018 01:08 PM

Hypothetically, if the Uranium One deal is deemed corrupt by the Trump administration, and “Russian nuclear officials” indeed routed millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation, and Tony Podesta lobbied on behalf of the deal for the Clinton Foundation – it stands to reason that this Executive Order could freeze the US-housed assets of quite a few individuals. Of note, assets can be frozen with no prior warning, as Trump has declared a national emergency due to the “scope and gravity” of the threat posed by said individuals.

If, Frank is involved with Uranium One……….What Out for HIVE……..

            What to Watch….

            Jan 01, 2018 01:01 PM

Frank G was involved with Lithium X and they just got taken over last month after only 2 years in business, and he also involved with Fiore Exploration and they’re doing ok.

Frank H. is behind ETF (JETS) and it seems to be doing fine.

Not every deal they are in has international energy safety at the forefront, and the Clinton/Obama posse has nothing to do with HIVE. Most of the brains and workforce at HIVE is acted on by Genesis Mining.

Genesis Mining CEO Talks HIVE Blockchain, Bitcoin
            DECEMBER 20, 2017 – #VIDEO

HIVE mostly mines Ethereum at this point and it is up $850 close to all time high.

Their big capital raise was to do more infrastructure & technology spending to put more focus on mining Bitcoin later in the year.

            Jan 01, 2018 01:29 PM

One last thought is that the advantage a miner has it that they can switch which crypto to mine that is most profitable at a given time, and will have regular growing cashflows (similar to a Royalty company getting paid quarter after quarter with good margins, versus just holding 1 particular underlying asset like Gold or Silver bullion).

That is why I prefer holding a miner tat is flexible and adaptable over a particular coin or altcoin.

A solid point from Goldfinger over at ceo:

@Goldfinger – “$Gold rally is quite healthy, RSI just reaching above 70 while ADX still below 25. Historically when gold has gotten really overheated RSI has been near 80 with ADX near 40. Steadiness of the buying since mid-December is also remarkable:”

    http://cdn.ceo.ca/1d4lhuc-Gold_2017.png

      Jan 01, 2018 01:48 PM

Look at that…. The buying started at the end of Tax Loss selling right after the FOMC rate hike and all the usual Fedbabble. Who’d a thunk it? 🙂

        Jan 01, 2018 01:11 PM

Actually, the buying started well before the end of tax loss selling. IPT, for example, moved up as much as 53% before tax selling was done.

Goldfinger is right about the (obvious) strength but I wonder what his opinion was in the days immediately after the bottom was in. He should have turned bullish very quickly.

    Jan 01, 2018 01:13 PM

    I can’t remember……was it somebody here???😉

      Jan 01, 2018 01:47 PM

haha! Well, I wouldn’t belabor the point if there weren’t a few posters (that have been quieter lately) ridiculing my comments a few months back. For their benefit:

      -> On October 17, 2017 at 6:52 pm,
      Excelsior says:

“At this point it is looking like Gold and Silver have more work to do, but I can’t help pondering what we discussed back in August — That if the US Dollar cannot mount an impressive reversal higher, and instead just pauses here and rolls over, then that might be the very “catalyst” that the metals and commodities need. Cory mentioned in the interview above that the Dollar really hasn’t shown any meaningful strength after starting to rebound.”

“If the Dollar rally fizzles from here and breaks back down below 91-92, then it could be a surprise that catches most traders off-sides.”

      -> On October 25, 2017 at 11:57 am,
      Excelsior says:

“If there is the dip in December due to tax loss selling and before the FOMC then I plan on doing my last tranche in most of these struggling miners at that time, but on days like this, it is very difficult to sit on my hands and not buy more of the companies that are set up for a good 2018.”

      -> On October 26, 2017 at 7:53 pm,
      Excelsior says:

“You can gloat for about 2 more months spanky. Once the corrective move is over, my investing thesis is that the next leg up in the bull market (that started in Dec 2015 for the metals and Jan 19, 2016 for the Miners) will get moving higher.”

“It is painful to watch the sea of red across the PM sector, and 2 months may end up feeling like an eternity….. However, I’m going to take the scrapes and bruises, and work on building up some dry powder to deploy pre-FOMC.”

      -> On December 5, 2017 at 9:20 am,
      Excelsior says:

“Yes, sentiment and prices have been bearish, but this was expected going into mid Dec tax loss selling and prior to the FOMC meeting 12-13th for the Fedbabble rate hike. It is the same thing that happened in Dec of 2015 and Dec of 2016.”

      -> On December 12, 2017 at 4:54 pm,
      Excelsior says:

“In both mid to late December of 2015 and 2016 the PMs put in a bottom right near the Fed Rate hikes. And here we are again…. about to put in the lows right near the fedbabble….”

      -> On December 12, 2017 at 4:56 pm,
      Excelsior says:

“I’ve been adding to many miners since before Thanksgiving until today. As far as the Precious Metals go, I’m pretty much fully allocated, although if there is a nice Q1 Run then I’d like to reshuffle a few of my holdings into different names.”

” Clearly some of the carnage in PM stocks from Nov to Dec is tax loss selling as well, but most of that should be over at this point, and some investors have started buying into the weakness in prices.”

      -> On December 13, 2017 at 5:48 pm,
      Excelsior says:

“Yes, for the last 2 months I mentioned we’d get a sell down in the miners and that they’d likely bottom in mid-Dec due to the end of tax loss selling and in front of the FOMC Fedbabble. In addition, I mentioned this was where I was going to be placing my last tranche of dry powder for 2017,”

Here are the Silver stocks in my portfolio at present. I cut Silvercrest loose because it had spiked up so much but plan on buying it back if it retraces some. I rotated that into AbraPlata at present as it looks oversold and should have a better 2018.

          Jan 02, 2018 02:55 AM

Damn not awake yet I guess…trevali is on the list. Lol

          Jan 02, 2018 02:54 AM

Yes, I’ve considered Trevali or Pasinex for a Zinc producer, but keep in mind I have a position in Heron and they are in construction building out their Woodlawn Copper/Zinc project and will be going into production later this year.

Also, I have one of the best Zinc producers out there – Americas Silver Corp. 🙂

            Jan 02, 2018 02:56 AM

As for Excelsior Mining, I traded it earlier in the year, but don’t have a position in it at present. I was hoping for a short term pullback in Copper in early 2018 where I could reload on a few more Copper names, and it is a priority to pick up.

Getting right up to Fib resistance. May do a bit of trimming back on a few that have really run since mid Dec.

        Jan 02, 2018 02:47 AM

As you know, it’s wise to trim on a case-by-case basis. For example, I trimmed IPT around its high more than a week ago to buy JAG around its low.
Fwiw, I have already bought back part of the IPT that I sold (for close to 10% less).

          Jan 02, 2018 02:00 AM

Yes, I don’t do blanket trimming, but look at things by sector and then analyze the individual charts to see what may be getting overheated, and what may be lagging, and cross check the fundamental & technical data points. Still I ended up trimming a handful of stocks today on the surge of new buying entering the market, but left most of the core position in place to keep charging.

Metals have been really strong the last few weeks and many stocks are up 5-15% today, so it’s refreshing to see the green on the screen. 🙂

            Jan 02, 2018 02:04 AM

            It’s a big bull move, I tell ya…

          Jan 02, 2018 02:03 AM

BTW – what do you make of the CFO resigning at IPT last week out of nowhere?

It may just be a new years resolution to start somewhere else, as sometimes happens at the start of the year, but several people wrote me privately about it, and in my view it didn’t necessarily mean anything big. Any thoughts?

I was more concerned about the CEO of Defiance resigning suddenly from Defiance yesterday so I lightened the load just in case there is anything coming down the pike. Maybe these people just wanted to start fresh in other organizations.

I don’t make anything of her departure. She’s probably just on to greener pastures. I think her base salary was about C$35,000.

            Jan 02, 2018 02:09 AM

I don’t know about the DEF CEO. Btw, do you happen to know DEF’s working cap and/or cash level? I haven’t owned it in a long time and it was low last I checked.

            Jan 02, 2018 02:20 AM

He was there for a whopping four months…

            Jan 02, 2018 02:13 PM

Yeah, I remember on the Sept Metals Investor Forum presentation he had just taken the role and was excited. Apparently 4 months later he was also on to greener pastures.

Peter Hawley (of Scorpio Mining & Scorpio Gold) is the director of the board. I’d like to see him have Americas Silver buy out Defiance and then they’d have the funds to really do proper exploration.

The issue with Defiance isn’t their land (it’s is very mineral rich and barely even explored but was a past producer), it’s their lack of funding to really prove out their thesis to the marketplace. If they would JV the project, or attract a strategic investor then they could really get the drills turning and turn a few heads in the marketplace.

            Jan 02, 2018 02:23 PM

Impact was smart to “give” that property to Defiance at the top of the market in 2011. It’s a fine property but IPT didn’t need it.

            Jan 02, 2018 02:36 PM

Interesting comments about that ex CEO:

Are there really no press releases for all of 2016? To me, that is a problem. The company is always cash strapped yet they didn’t do a single financing when the getting good?

Doing private placements at major market lows AND doing none while the market is flying is a great way to tell the market that the management team is worse than not special.

DEF has been around for 6 years yet already has more shares out than IPT — which has been around for more than 24 years.

Defiance had about 6 or 7 press releases in 2016, but just don’t have a 2016 link on the left side of their webpage. That is funny now that you point it out:

Here they kicked off March of 2016 with this one:

Matthew – thanks for that stockhouse link. It seems that Defiance is actually going to partner with a Strategic Investor. I’ve been thinking that is their best path forward for some time:

“I emailed Sunny Pannu and got a response , basically Roy wasn’t a good fit for the direction of the company and they are continuing planned drilling and a resource update and bringing in a strategic investor to advance the project further.”

Honestly, I hope this stock continues downwards and I’ll reload. I trimmed most of it back today at a mild overall profit, but love it when confusion of direction sets in and a quality asset get trashed in valuation. If they do keep up the solid drilling results this year (as they did have some good results in 2017) then their resource update just might entice a larger name that will be a better operator. That may cause a rerating later in the year and will represent a good value perception arbitrage.

Short term they’re in disorder, but longer term their asset will be worth a larger company bringing under their fold.

            Jan 02, 2018 02:08 PM

I’ll be stalking this one looking for oversold conditions and for the sentiment to deteriorate a bit more. Never a dull moment in the mining business 🙂

Hey Ex. I’m apparently useless with technology. Can’t find the ceo stockpickers contest page to get a look at all the picks. Can’t even remember mine. Lol. If you could provide link when you get a chance I’d appreciate it

Hola amigos. In a Barron’s interview a couple of years ago John Hathaway said Torex Gold TORXF was one of his favorites@14. It went to 27 and has dropped to 9 due to an illegal union blocking entrance to the mine. The Torex workers voted 99% to stay open but the union is still blocking access.Doc, Matthew, Excelsior: Is it time to buy or run away from TORXF?

      Jan 02, 2018 02:48 AM

I don’t follow it but I’d be more inclined to buy. It’s not cheap but it’s also not steep. It does look like it wants to go even lower so I’d scale into it. However, there are technical positive divergences and it is quite oversold on the weekly chart so a turn could come at any time.

BlackRock and Tocqueville continue to add to their positions and have 5+ and 4+ million shares, respectively.

I would avoid it if you don’t think gold is going to do much in the next few months as the company has plenty of debt that could become problematic. On the other hand, if you are very bullish gold, it could soon provide more leverage than most of its peers.

      Jan 02, 2018 02:17 PM

Hi Bonzo Barzini. I owned Torex in 2015 and 2016 but sold out a while back. They ran into some violence on their worksite from gangs and illegal miners earlier in the year and that spooked a few folks, and then they got snared up in the GDXJ rebalance and year end seasonal weakness.

Torex does look more attractive now at these levels, but then again, so does the whole sector 🙂

    Jan 02, 2018 02:56 AM

Thanks Matthew. I bought it@14, rode it up to 27 and back down to 9. I feel beaten, but I’m way up today on my portfolio. Maybe I should sell Torex and buy JAG or more NSRPF or KL. When Doc said he wanted to buy JAG@.26 did he mean Canadian or yankee dollars?

      Jan 02, 2018 02:12 PM

You know, that’s a good question. When I replied about Jag on the weekend, I was think about it in Canadian.
Fwiw, I added more today near the low (.345) and just a little while ago near the high (.360). I don’t usually buy strength but there’s a time and place for it.

It is looking better all the time:

      Jan 02, 2018 02:14 PM

Jag’s daily cycle is a little out of sync with the sector so it wouldn’t be surprising to see it rise on as the rest pullback.

      Weekly:

      http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=JAG.TO&p=W&yr=2&mn=7&dy=0&id=p41237815247&a=536527914

        Jan 02, 2018 02:21 PM

I agree, and really when that fund liquidated their position a few months back, there was no fundamental reason, and it’s been way oversold since then, so I could see JAG continuing to rise a faster clip than the rest of the sector just play catch up. Also, being in Brazil allows them to continue to good mining improvements and exploration work, unlike many parts of Canada in a deep freeze at present.

    Jan 02, 2018 02:33 PM

Let’s hope Doc meant .26 in yankee $.
