Q1 Outlook – Global Central Banks, Currencies, and Politics

Cory
January 9, 2018

Marc Chandler, Head of Currency Strategy at Brown Brothers Harriman shares his insights on what to look for in Q1 of 2018. We look at central bank policy in terms of rate hikes out of the Fed and possibly the Bank of Canada. The USD is also considered in terms of fundamentals that are similar to last year. Politics is a key factor in Europe and in the US. We are waiting to see if infrastructure spending will be more of a headline.

The graduation rate will decrease again, and the drop out rate is sure to increase…..LBGT, little bit guarded truth.

Pilots, a shortage right now, so short instructors are hard to come by.

Retirement is taking its toll, and the “small” runs, to isolated small communities could be in trouble. Those pilots graduate to the big airlines.

This is in Canada, no idea about the states.

That is what happens when millions of semi-illiterates are given the power of the vote and bribed to vote democrat.
The liberals in control are able to bankrupt the state and propagandize the masses.

Maybe so cfs, but dont promote monarchy around here.
Thats as bad as saying gold is gonna drop in price.

Hopefully people will someday come to the same conclusion I did years ago,…we need a new system.

    Hey Cory,
When you talk to Doc today, can you ask about Uranium and his views especially since Ur stocks have held gains? e.g. UEC, Fission etc
    Thanks!!

      Jan 09, 2018 09:15 AM

Hey Cali, I will bring Uranium and the stocks up to him tomorrow. With the moves today in the markets we wanted to cover those first. Thanks for the question!

I mentioned yesterday that weed would reverse today, it did, from $43 to $38 and now bouncing just over $40.
Astute traders can make some shiny coin with weed shares.

    novo? no fun again today.

      Jan 09, 2018 09:31 PM

I find Weed is the best stock to trade. I put in stink bids each day and they often hit and then I sell the bounce. $4800+ gains this week mainly on this and a tiny bit on ACB which does not bounce well. Much bigger gains last week.

Ya, but is the product any good?

          Jan 09, 2018 09:53 PM

Dope heads can smoke it not me. As long as it is volatile it is good and the product does not matter.

If the picture really is as bullish as I’ve been saying they are, then we could already have a low:

What happens to gold if Cliff High is right?

Geez wouldnt the west get the last laff on China/Russia.

    Why bother with Cliff?
Cause he was right all along and every step of the way with cryptos.

And….if the world does go crypto, who the heck needs gold?

      Jan 09, 2018 09:03 PM

You say the funniest things, b! Those who prefer to save their wealth rather than gamble with it need gold, that’s who!

Cryptos are probably the most volatile “asset” class in history and there’s no reason to expect that to change. Gold, on the other hand, is unmatched by any other asset for its long term value stability.

The governor of the Bank of England (BoE), Mark Carney, has just declared that the BoE is seriously considering introducing an official cryptocurrency in 2018 already and also that the BoE is in discussion with other central banks on this matter. The BoE has worked on this project since 2015. The technology was tested satisfactorily in the summer of 2017 according to Carney. He stated: It is a most interesting application that is beneficial for financial stability and efficiency. He said: “We are on the case.” It obviously has nothing to do with financial stability since another fiat currency, this time electronic, can only very temporarily conceal that the world is bankrupt.

Vladimir Putin Looks to Develop a New Cryptocurrency — the …

So it is clear that central banks are already on the case for some time and see official cryptos as a solution to the global debt problem as well as the perfect way to control money.
Through manipulation they can easily create unlimited cryptos and hype the value.

They can also electronically totally control individuals’ money and their transactions.

This is the perfect Big Brother system and thus another frightening attempt to severely limit the money and freedom of individuals.

    KWN if anyone is interested
