Big Al, What has happened with Rye Patch? Have they had a stock split or a symbol change?

      Jan 12, 2018 12:13 PM

Hey Pardu, Rye Patch announces a rollback of 6.5 to 1 a couple days ago. It came right after commercial production was announced.

        Jan 12, 2018 12:10 PM

        Thanks Cof y

Aren’t “rollbacks” usually a bad sign?

            Jan 12, 2018 12:20 PM

It depends on the reason for the rollback. If it is due to excessive debt or getting delisted then it is much worse than what Americas Silver did to become listed on the NYSE for example.

For the shorter term stock splits can put pressure on a stock, but remember that Rye Patch isn’t some fly-by-night Exploration stock that is splitting, they are full-fledged producer now with a huge land package in Nevada (one of the best mining jurisdictions). The knock against Rye Patch for the last year after the Florida Canyon acquisition has been that they have too many shares out to attract most institutional investors. Many said they liked the company but wouldn’t touch it with the higher share count, so the 6.5 to 1 consolidation will clean up their share count and is wise for the longer term valuation picture.

Personally I like to add or position in companies after the reverse split once the dust settles during “boring” sideways trading. If they are going to do a capital raise right away, then it’s best to let that pass as well. However, as mentioned yesterday, their production output is gradually rising and this will help offset the amount of any money needed for 2018.

The vast majority of new producers in their first year or two have to raise additional funds, as they ramp and optimize their production, so that would be par for the course. However, the markets will also counter-balancing that against their expected rising production numbers and rising metals prices.

You do understand why the media is calling Trump a racist.

Schumer, Pelosi, Feinstein and the Democrat party want to pass DACA, not because they care about illegals.
They want to pass DACA and HAVE more immigrants, because 73% of Mexicans and Central Americans use welfare to some extent. The VAST MAJORITY VOTE DEMOCRAT.
Thus the Democrat leaders are interested in power; into turning the US into a one-party country, where the Democrats always win.
You don’t seriously think people like Pelosi care about the country or people. That’s a joke; just look at California, which is collapsing under debt and because they can raise taxes to some extent, people are leaving in the hundreds of thousands.
Do you want your children educated in public schools where English is a minority language and t?he actual education is terrible?

Do you think many Republicans in power care more about their country than having cheap labor? Dream on. The US will slowly change into something unrecognisable to our forefathers.

The more ridicule that can be poured on Trump, the more likely DACA will pass.

            Jan 12, 2018 12:08 PM

            Really a great comment, Professor!

          Jan 12, 2018 12:52 PM

Pardu – a “rollback” is the same thing as a “reverse stock split” which is the same thing as a “share consolidation”.

On this deal you get 1 share of stock for each 6.5 shares of stock prior to the “rollback”.

Essentially company will be valued at the exact same place as all that is changing is the number of shares (which are being reduced). Historically if a company has just blown out too many shares, a company will do this for 2 reasons:

          1) to attract new shareholders that prefer a tighter share structure

          2) the ability to more attractively raise capital down the road.

It is the second reason that concerns current investors, as it would mean more dilution is coming when they do the next capital raise.

However, this always needs to be counter-balanced with how much good work or progress can be made with the capital that is raised. If it helps Rye Patch further explore their properties to define more resources in the ground at Florida Canyon, Wilco, or Lincoln Hill or if they can increase efficiencies at their Florida Canyon mine, then it will be worth the candle.

The real problem is when BS Exploration companies do a reverse split, to raise more money to drill their moose pasture, with dreams & marketing of hopefully hitting upon an economic deposit. Only 1 in 3000 targets ever become a profitable mine.

Clearly we have a different situation here with a producer, that already has a mine with economic projects and is already in production (it is one of the 3000 projects that became a mine). In this case extending the mine life with further exploration, and improving costs & revenues at Florida Canyon will bring more value longer term, than the shorter term dilutive effects of whatever future financing the comes.

Share consolidations should always be analyzed one at a time. For example last year I did really well on Metanor and Aura Minerals waiting to get into my position until after their share consolidations were completed. Like most of these, the longer term holders bailed with a grumble grumble, and I bought their shares on fire sale.

The same thing with picking up Jaguar after they came out of credit protection and had rolled back their shares and restructured their balance sheets.

These are basically periods of time where companies get “rebooted”.

Another example I just recently got involved with is Equinox Gold (previously Trek Mining who had Luna Gold and JDL Coppers old assets, and NewCastle Gold, and Anfield Gold). All these companies had been destroyed in appropriate value, but all just combined into a new restructured, well-funded, company with a small amount of toll-milling production, but the 2 huge near-term production assets from Luna Gold and Newcastle gold, along with 3 other Copper projects. Now that old investors have been marginalized, and the value destruction and dilution is over, it is much safer to get into the water and ride the appreciation of this new incarnation up into the bull market.

          Jan 12, 2018 12:08 PM

A rollback is a reduction of shares outstanding, or a reverse split.

i.e. In the case of Rye Patch you get 1/6.5 new shares for every one originally issued.
e.g. if you had 1,000 old shares you get 153 new shares a few cents cash and a bill for $20- $25 from your stockbroker for the paperwork.
I hate splits, regardless of cause and dump my shares on principle.
          I consider it poor management.
Likewise for name changes, which I also consider incompetence.

There are thousands of companies to choose from, I don’t need poor management.
(And I don’t care if I occasionally throw an odd baby out with the bath-water.)

            Jan 12, 2018 12:14 PM

In the case of RPM Professor, I can’t agree simply because of the original number of shares outstanding. In this case, it is logical to assume that less shares outstanding will result in a higher value for the shareholder.

Big Al, it is clear to see the hypocrisy of those on the political left and even some on the right, or perhaps better stated, those in the deep state or power seeking swamp when they leave the platitudes and principles that they say they stand for and get down in the mud to destroy someone they hate.

How many times have politicians, especially the left, pontificated about fairness, truth, free speech, diversity, etc. when defending their own point of view, yet all is tossed out the window when they want to destroy someone they don’t like. Gone is the fairness, truth, willingness to see diversity of those they don’t like etc.

The bottom line is that it is all about power and who gets to wield it and power corrupts.

Desires and ambitions are fine, as long as one does not engage in criminal or unethical behavior in their pursuit.

I greatly prefer China’s mercantilist approach versus America’s military approach.

Though I don’t think a world dominated by China is any more desirable than one dominated by Ziomerica.

Worse than the Pakistanis getting nukes, they have most probably been transferring rocket/nuke technology to Iran for oil.

I do believe there are good people at the agencies like the FBI, CIA, NSA, etc.

There are also a lot of scumbags. To propose that the vast majority are supporting our constitutional republic is absurd. Tell me that when the NSA stops violating my rights every moment of every day. When there is some honesty and justice regarding 9/11. When the CIA stops illegally propagandizing (e.g. Udo Ulfkotte). Etc.

Time to stop playing make believe.

        Jan 14, 2018 14:25 PM

Ever hear the song: “The Land of Make Believe” by Chuck Mangione and sung by Ester Satterfield. It is a great one.

Can you imagine, GH, just what a great world this would be if there was a termination of all of these actions?
