I think thats pretty much a common denominator of empires, seems when we get big we wanna get bigger.

Doesnt matter what system, language,colour, race, god or time period.

I cant recall an empire that didnt think that way, another common denominator is that thinking brought them all down.

Big Al, The demise of our culture as you put it, is indeed happening. It seems as though humans go through these cycles over and over. It also appears that society is running on emotions rather than reason.

These marches for example, where instigators motivate a lot of teenagers, who lack the facts, life experiences and critical thinking to a high degree are used as pawns to protest things they don’t understand fully. These events become driving forces in society rather than reasonable people getting together and discussing things based on facts and moral principles that we used to have in common in America.

Reason not emotion is a better way to solve problems.

I saw a program on health care in The United States, specifically they were talking about strokes. The Important thing when a stoke occurs is to get the patient to a stroke designated hospital within 35 minutes and start administering the proper medication. There are two types of strokes one is caused by bleeding in the brain and the other is caused by loss of blood in the brain. It is important to be able to know what type of stroke the patient has had so the right drug can be administered immediately. In Texas they have figured how to put a Cat Scan into an ambulance that only scans your head. The cost is $600,000 and the cost of carrying the medication for either stroke is $40k To 50 K. If a regular ambulance picks up a stroke victim they can radio the ambulance with the stroke equipment and meet in a parking lot where the patient gets immediate attention. The cost of this equipment which seems high is nothing compared to equipping one soldier for one year in Afghanistan. In fact at 2.1 million for the soldier you could instead have three stroke ambulances. This is just one small example of how war destroys life, but that money redirected could save so many others and the cost of their recovery. DT

I believe the negativism comes from those that have gained control of the media. Also I will add that America has been in the business of killing people for far to long in the name of Defense.
After a three month break from the computer it was nice to hear Big Al. I may not always agree, but i never forget how fortunate we have been to have the K E Report.

Not to argue with you Al but I think young people today are a lot brighter than you and I were at that age. They have sat and watched our “leaders” either do nothing like our moribund Congress and have simply had enough. You have surly heard about Santorum suggesting young people ought to learn CPR instead of demand anything of substance from government. True, we all ought to know about CPR but talk about a stupid time to bring it up and to tie it in with a mass shooting!
Then add again this week trump’s appointment of Bolton, a war hawk loud mouth neo-con who can’t be good for anyone’s future, especially the young people who have to fight his wars………If these two examples are all we can bring forward, it’s time to step aside and let another generation take the helm! I wonder how many of the marchers are aware that the Law enforcements sell their old weapons back to the public through gun dealers to raise money. Data on how many of these guns end up back in the hands of criminals committing crimes is unavailable because it is not recorded. Makes one think twice when you hear Law Enforcement doing a gun buy back.Also 2 out of 3 deaths attributed to gun violence is self induced suicide.
Sometimes more Govt regulations is a good thing. Since data on vehicle fatalities have been recorded , this has led to seatbelts and airbags reducing fatalities by 80%.

I’m more pessimistic than you, Al. Empires rise and fall. There is nothing new under the sun. What has been will be again.

All you or I can do as individuals is what’s right in God’s eyes. The stuff on earth will continue to happen as it has always happened. Human nature is unchanging.

Al, Seems you know about as much about the Southside of Chicago as President Trump, nothing. But you use it in a profane negative way to make a political rhetorical point. Not really a great solution. Just be clean and nice. Problem solved! Not!
