Doc joins me today to focus on gold and silver. Both are holding up very well when considering we had another rate hike, yields are still moving up and the USD is holding its recent gains. We also look at the GDX and GDXJ chars as well as the gold:silver ratio.

Doc do you see gold below 1275/1280 before it breaks out? Previous your thoughts were a bit more bearish and testing 1250 area this summer.
Paul, if we see 1250 it should not be in June—deeper into July if we get there. gold does not appear at risk for a sudden big drop
Doc should look at FSM. The bollinger bands of the daily narrowed significantly. They look like volume is coming in. Never seen bollinger bands so tight before.
Rick, I own FSM and I wish I had bought more at its’ low where I started accumulating. Interesting that you mentioned it since it broke out of its’ daily channel today. I feel it’ll move a little higher and then possibly top at its’ previous high. I think at that point it’ll have more work to do before taking out the high in April. It should meet a lot of resistance there.
Doc when the mining stocks finally break out I’m assuming the large caps will move first. The large cap and royalties are doing much better than the juniors currently (in general anyway). If the larger stocks really start moving how long does it usually take for the juniors to get going? Thanks
Sam, I couldn’t agree with you more. Cory and I were talking about that point today. The larger cap with good fundamentals should move first. If they really start to move, I believe it’ll take awhile before the juniors move. I think the odds are the large cap will slowly move up over time and the juniors won’t really get going significally until the large caps take out their highs of mid 2016.
Some of the mid-tiers have been doing well lately. Endeavour Silver and Teranga Gold and Superior Gold come to mind…
