Gold and Gold Stocks Getting a Major Buy Today

Cory
December 20, 2018

Chris Temple joins me today to look at the moves in precious metals today. After an over 5% move down in GDX yesterday it is taking it all back today. We also comment on the downward move in the US dollar. The days after a Fed meeting are always interesting and that is being proven again today.

The 2011-15 bear market technicals for gold are sufficiently repaired for a move into a higher trading range:

Looks like the dollar would need to retrace its losses this week. Good news, love hearing. Thanks Matthew

      Dec 20, 2018 20:45 PM

The dollar has already lost 98 1/2% of its value vs. gold since the Fed was created by the devil Woodrow Wilson.

    Dec 20, 2018 20:35 AM

President Trump’s tax cuts provided cover for Fed Chair Powell to raise rates. This was all done with the blessing of the Congress.
The road to hell is always paved with good intentions.

      Dec 20, 2018 20:59 AM

I don’t see the logic of that. This hiking cycle was going to happen regardless of any tax cuts because it had to.

        Dec 20, 2018 20:49 PM

There is no logic any more. It’s all ad-hoc.
Like Mr Temple said yesterday, external cracks will start showing.

          Dec 20, 2018 20:08 PM

80% of all trades are Machine Driven Algos trading on news. That is in my opinion why there is such a bias in the media. I don’t think one can compare the circumstances of today to those in the past. It’s not apples and oranges any more.
I believe now one has to look at upper and lower levels as a percentage as a deviation from the mean and trade when they are exceeded. This says to me there is some dissension going on with the controllers

Tomorrow is a pretty important day for lots of the weaker miners as it will be the last opportunity to make an easy break above cloud resistance on the daily charts for weeks IMO. AUY, AG, AXU, EXK are all in the same boat more or less. I have my doubts…

Expect a hit by the bankers Tomorrow on Gold and Silver….options expire.

Unless JPMorgan has decided they have a big enough pile of silver, and now want to profit by letting it revert to true value.

            Dec 20, 2018 20:50 PM

Mueller is really bad news. Go back to when he was head of the FBI and the corrupt dealings with Pakistan. Those that tried to expose this were blackballed. The media is so lame you’ll never hear about it.
Also there is something weird going on with Khassoggi.I don’t have any more than that, but he wasn’t who the media purports him to be.The source went back to Turkey.I will post more when I can post with a link.

            Dec 20, 2018 20:22 PM

            Go back to 9/11………

I can not remember,….but, do Comey and Mueller go back to Little Rock and the Pres Clinton

            Dec 20, 2018 20:47 PM

The Comey Clinton connection is Comey’s brother in law is Clinton’s tax guy.For the foundation also.

            Dec 20, 2018 20:51 PM

I don’t know that much about Mueller except he black listed the head of the organization I subscribe to for news.(Paid Subscription)

Mueller and company have a huge problem with President Trump. President Trump can take Mueller and all his cronies down with him if they try anything. There has to be a bunch of nervous people right now.A bunch of cockroaches hoping nobody turns on the lights.

      CUT OFF HIS FUNDING>>>>>>>
After all, reports out earlier this year suggested that Mueller would be done with his report shortly after the midterms. Yet the investigation – which has gone on for more than 18 months – has dragged on.

Mathew I know that IPT is your baby, with that being said I was wondering your take on the Silver miners in Mexico with the new Government. Ex/Shad posted a really informative piece and after I read it I couldn’t help but think about IPT.

      Dec 20, 2018 20:24 PM

I don’t like the new government one bit but I do not think it will be nearly as bad as some fear. However, some companies might have more to fear than others. I’d be careful with those that have had disputes with their workforce or the government – local or otherwise.
The Mexican people can’t afford to allow leftist dirtballs to make their country unfit for investment. Hopefully they realize that.

        Dec 21, 2018 21:46 AM

Good thoughts Matthew. I’ve spent a fair bit of time considering the situation with Mexico and the miners, and while there may be some idiotic policies proposed, they still have to pass through their normal political process to be implemented.
Really it will come down to what actual Mexican state companies are operating in, which cartels & gangs are active in that area, and then drilling down to the local situation, the community relations between that miner and the local people, and if there is any regular history of disputes. There are certain companies like Avino with a 98% Mexican workforce that employs much of the surrounding communities, with extra education offered for a career track in mining to locals that I doubt will have many issues.

For Gold, Silver, Zinc miners in Mexico they need to stay abreast of changes to the permitting process, potential land access changes, and taxation concerns from their new leftist regime.

I really agree with you last 2 sentences there:

“The Mexican people can’t afford to allow leftist dirtballs to make their country unfit for investment. Hopefully they realize that.”

Hopefully with the mining industry being around 10% of their GDP and national economy, and with much of that coming from foreign investment, they won’t kill the goose that laid the “silver” egg…

      Hedge Fund Armageddon

Dec 19 2018 – Chris at Capitalist Exploits

        Dec 21, 2018 21:03 AM

From the editorial above on Hedge Fund Armageddon:

        _______________________

“You are witnessing a massive culling of the hedge fund industry as hundreds of funds are liquidated and thousands more get sizable redemptions. Many of these funds own the same companies—the outcasts from the indexed world, the cheap, the unloved; the same stocks that many other hedge fund managers own. With the hedge fund industry going in reverse, there is suddenly no natural buyer for what must be sold. As a result, you are seeing waves of forced sell orders and few buyers. It is creating rather insane bargains all around.”

The psychological climate is changing, America faces a resurgent China and Russia. The troops should have been brought home after The Korean War in 1953, but this new order in military power means The US must adjust to protect their homeland as their military is way over extended. Financial constraints and a shift in the balance of power will finally bring the troops home. DT

Where the U.S. troops are moved to remains to be seen.

That is if the are withdrawn, alot can happen in 60-100 days.

There is speculation they will be deployed to support action around the Kerch Strait.

France is taking steps to replace the Americans in Syria.

U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis resigned. lol

Maybe Trump could replace him with Ron Paul….just a thought.
