It’s Alive!!
A little embarrassing Excelsior. I will say that Cory fixed it in a timely and efficient manner and it did air on all the radio stations.
Best to you,
Al
No worries we knew it would get fixed and were just horsing around. Cory does a great job.
funny OOTB.
🙂
In the comments section on the link to the Sound of Silence HoodieSticks says
‘This song has become a self-fulfilling prophecy. The lyrics talk about how technology and media have made us shallow and trivial people. Then the internet takes the first line of this song out of context and turns it into a meme about getting upset over shallow and trivial things.’ we need to get that guy/girl to write on here to comment…
Nigel, I agree that shallow and trivial things should not be of concern to us if we want to retain our sanity. The bottom line question is just what is shallow and trivial as it can mean different things to different people . Please comment.
Hi Al, I quoted the comment because it really made me think about the song and what is happening with technology and the media. It seems that while we have in theory access to more information that information is becoming less accurate and we tend to only access the media
Morning Nigel,
What segment of the Media are you talking about? Very quickly I will be using 70% unconventional and 30% conventional and the conventional will probably we relegated to the WSJ elusively!
con’d ….the media that echos our beliefs. In the past the Times newspaper used to be good because it just reported facts without much comment and you had to make up your own mind. Now it’s a few selected facts to back up the comment.
The issue though is whether one picks the unconventional media that just panders to what you already believe… Maybe no news is good news ‘on 18 April 1930, the BBC’s news announcer had nothing to communicate. “There is no news,” was the script of the 20:45 news bulletin, before piano music was played for the rest of the 15-minute segment.’
Discover the problem and informed Cory and, as you can see the problem is now fixed. Very sorry for the mistake.
Interesting just how an old movie like this still retains so much value.
Meanwhile en Paris
I’m sure one of the protesters said ‘在Korelin周末节目上缺乏声音是不是很糟糕’ don’t know why he was speaking in Chinese
I obviously cannot translate this so I sent it to a friend of mine who can and will translate it.
Hi Al, roughly it means ‘This quiet Korelin weekend show is not bad!’ just my little joke
The “quiet little show” was very embarrassing to us.
THIS CENTURY’S SUEZ CRISIS
By Louis-Vincent Gave – January 25, 2019
“On Monday, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) released a report stating that China’s official growth rate for 2018 was 6.6%, or the slowest it has been since 1990. And forward-looking forecasts did not soothe concerns that trouble is brewing in one of the world’s largest economies. As a result of the news – and other international political and economic concerns – almost every global market traded lower on Tuesday.”
“Equally alarming and adding fuel to the slowdown in the global economy, is the ongoing trade spat between the world’s two largest trading partners. With talks set to begin anew next week, hope lingers that a deal will be struck before the 90-day trade truce expires on March 1 – especially considering the increased economic and political pressures facing Beijing and Washington. But pro-deal bulls shouldn’t get too comfortable. Central to these talks, and something that we have written on extensively in previous EVAs (see The Trump Trade Tirade, Part I and The Trump Trade Tirade, Part II), is China’s willingness to “play fair” with critical IP and technology.”
“This week, we are presenting two missives related to how US-China relations will inform future economic and market conditions from our esteemed colleagues at our partner firm Gavekal. Gavekal has been internationally recognized as the “go-to independent global research firm for institutional investors and traders” and are particularly respected when it comes to understanding and forecasting happenings in Asia. This partnership gives Evergreen Gavekal an exceptional and unique vantage from which to understand and invest in overseas markets.”

These riots have not been in the news much recently and I just checked to see what was currently going on and it seems to be “more of the same”
Hi everyone, the show is fixed now and should be working properly!!
thanks Cory,
Al
THANKS CORY……….you the (new) Man……..sorry Owl….computer tech is not your game, nor mine ……..two balls lost in high weeds……..LOL
Thanks, Cory
I think Trump out-foxed Pelosi, because he will give a State of the Union Address as planned.
Then after 3 weeks and there is another government shut-down, Trump will declare a state of energency and divert funds to wall-building by the Army Corps of Engineers.
My comment was that I think that he showed himself to be the better person. Pelosi did very effectively; however, illustrate her true power. Comments?
I will be on these comments until at least 2 pm.
I do have to maintain that this situation currently with Trump could very well cost the Republicans the election in 2020. We may not like the Speaker, but she shows just how powerful she actually is.
Opinions?
Yes,……I think you are on the right track………HE SHOULD HAVE NOT SURRENDERED…
I believe Trump is playing a master game.
He is making the public wake up to the fact that Democrats value votes more than anything else.
He is stalling until RBG is dead, and mollifying Federal employees, rather than further antagonizing them.
In 3 weeks, the Democrats might cave and fund the wall.
If the Democrats don’t cave, he will declare an emergency and build the wall anyway.
That’s a no lose situation. All we need is patience, and in the meantime Trump is appointing Federal judges at breakneck speed.
Give us a recap of the appoints if you would
Historically Presidents have appointed Federal judges at a maximum rate of about 10 per month. As of about a week ago, Trump had appointed 86 already.
I personally found it very problematic that judical decisions could in any way depend on political association or leaning.
Surely whether a law is constitutional or not should be independent of political parties. Morality is morality, truth is truth. Apparently the Constitution is highly dependent on politics….There’s something wrong with that.
Again, if the there are three co-equal branches of government, how is it that the Judicial branch can over-rule the other two?
Further, why is there no provision at all for citizens to overrule egregious decisions of any of the branches in a supposedly “democratic” republic.
There are many problems that I see in Government.
Oops, I meant per year, not per month.
I am always listening and trying to learn, even as I write comments on Kereport.
I was listening to:

which I found interesting.
It is hard to fight a lying media and a lazy/stupid general public.
It is not hard, CFS, it is virtually impossible.
Roger Stone

on Fox, although I don’t understand titling.
Did anyone notice the FBI sent 17 vehicles to arrest Roger Stone?
Just a Q….eery?
Twitter questions how CNN was the only outlet to get the footage of Roger Stone’s arrest
Kyle Moss – January 25, 2019
“When Roger Stone was arrested by the FBI at his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Friday morning, CNN was the only news outlet there to capture it. Some viewers, including political commentator Greta Van Susteren, think that the FBI “obviously tipped CNN off.”

Trump could also be stalling for time to some extent.
Clearly the Democrats will attempt to impeach.
With Ruth Bader Ginsberg dead/dying Trump’s choice of next Supreme Court Justice is highly critical.
(I consider Roberts vulnerable to Blackmail/Has been blackmailed)
Also, in the case of a hung court, there is precedence for the President given temporary power to decide.
(I am not an attorney, just have an encyclopedic memory.)
oops…
Unless there is a lower court decision.

Do you have an opinion about Mr. Bernstein?
Laura is probably correct in that this situation is “Orwellian”
Seems with the coup in Venezuela that coups no longer need be covert.
Thats a significant change.
Maybe it means that the U.S. can now publicly appoint whoever they want as leader.
No more assassinations required?
Definitely a new phase for the coup business.
The only politician I have heard with the courage and integrity to call it a coup is Sven Robinson.
Maduro Stymied in Bid to Pull $1.2 Billion of Gold From U.K.
By Patricia Laya , Ethan Bronner , and Tim Ross – January 25, 2019
“Nicolas Maduro’s embattled Venezuelan regime, desperate to hold onto the dwindling cash pile it has abroad, was stymied in its bid to pull $1.2 billion worth of gold out of the Bank of England, according to people familiar with the matter.
The Bank of England’s decision to deny Maduro officials’ withdrawal request comes after top U.S. officials, including Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and National Security Adviser John Bolton, lobbied their U.K. counterparts to help cut off the regime from its overseas assets, according to one of the people, who asked not to be identified.
The U.K. followed the U.S. and other countries on Wednesday in recognizing Juan Guaido, the National Assembly leader, as the legitimate president of Venezuela. Maduro, an authoritarian ruler who’s overseen the country’s collapse into economic chaos, refuses to give up power, though, and has the backing of the military. The European Union threatened to recognize Guaido unless a “credible” presidential election is called with eight days, according to a draft statement seen by Bloomberg.”
Steal the gold, standard practice.
No idea why these countries dont understand the simple thing, if ya dont hold it ya dont own it.
Really enjoy the new website design. Great job Al and Cory
Pretty interesting. Wonder what happened to Mr. McAdams
The Rothschild family branch represented by heir Bettina Burr has agreed to sell two trusts that own about 7,000 hectares (17,300 acres) of forest in the Lower Austria region to the Vienna-based packaging firm Prinzhorn Holding GmbH, according to three people familiar with the deal, who requested anonymity since the transaction has yet to be added to the land register.
The forest — about 20 times the size of New York’s Central Park — is part of an estate Baron Albert von Rothschild bought in 1875. The Nazis seized the land after Germany occupied Austria in 1938, and it was partially returned to the family after World War II. Rothschild heir Bettina Looram moved back to live there until her death in 2012. Two branches of the family then split the estate, and both will now been have sold to Prinzhorn, which bought the adjacent forest a year ago.
And so it goes……
I bet …YOu saw that on……zerohedge…………..LOL
I like zerohedge material, but hate the site because it often locks up my computer.
My news came from Bloomberg, but I edited out a bunch of ads.

Denmark builds anti-pig border fence amid swine fever fears
28 January 2019
“Denmark has started building a 70km (43-mile) fence along its border with Germany in an effort to control the migration of wild boar.”
See, it’s easy to build a border fence between two countries if you focus on keeping the animals safe from incoming disease of migrating animals. They just need to make the US/Mexico wall about safeguarding the Javelinas and the wall will be approved in no time.
There’s a problem with sound player.
