The World’s Shift To A Dovish Pause

Cory
March 11, 2019

Edward Moya, Chief Market Strategist at OANDA joins me today to further outline how data around the world has forced central banks into a more dovish stance. Recent data out of China this weekend and the weak jobs data from Friday are just couple more bullets in the global economy. We also touch on the gold market and why it has been unable to breakout during these weak economic times.

    RubyCon……is an idiot…..
It is too late….the savers have been wiped out…….plus the country does not need to pay a single dime to the banksters…

Bloomberg economics’ global GDP tracker has been downgraded to its slowest pace since the financial crisis, with world economic growth slumping to 2.1% on a quarterly basis. That’s down from 4% in the middle of last year.

        Mar 11, 2019 11:55 AM

And while there’s a chance that a US-China trade deal, the Fed’s “pause”, and a fading of the pressures plaguing Europe might stave off a global recession, Bloomberg economists Dan Hanson and Tom Orlik said the risks appear to be tilted toward the downside. “The risk is that the downward momentum will be self-sustaining.”

“The cyclical upswing that took hold of the global economy in mid-2017 was never going to last. Even so, the extent of the slowdown since late last year has surprised many economists, including us.”

Any comments on the long term implications, Jerry?

          Mar 11, 2019 11:18 PM

Long term…….We are in a pickle……Like you said with $210 Trillion of Debt…..
With the govt. running two sets of books….running shadow govt on the Space Program,(so called)…Pentagon missing and not reporting $21 Trillion……Continued wars, and police state action. With 100,000 illegals per month, running in and over the borders,
The Dems going crazy with AOC..and the New Muslims in congress, and LBGTQ, and the Public education system in frazzles…..I do not see a rosy picture.
And how in the heck are we going back to 6% interest rates…..It, is for sure there are no savers…….with 60% of the people who can not even come up with $1000 in emergency funds
Lets take autos…….there is now a glut of autos…..
Housing is slowing in most areas of the country….even the sizes are starting to get smaller.
Retail….is shot in the foot. Cargo shipping has slowed to a multi year low.
We are in a pickle because we did not resolve the 2008 bank crash TBTF…

All I can say is: “get as secure financially as you possibly can. but then I have been saying that for years now!

This is how the AtlantaFed justified its latest Q1 GDP cut, which as of March 11 was just 0.2 percent, down from 0.5 percent on March 8: “After this morning’s retail sales report from the U.S. Census Bureau, the nowcast of first-quarter real personal consumption expenditures growth declined from 1.5 percent to 1.0 percent.”
