US Infrastructure Spending – It’s Coming Back Into The Spotlight

Cory
April 17, 2019

Chris Temple joins me to revisit our discussion about infrastructure spending in the US. This is now being brought up again in Washington and could become a major story very quickly. We chat about where the money could come from, how the political posturing is already starting, and what is could mean for the financial markets.

It’s refreshing to hear someone like Chris speak truthfully about the shortcomings of both political parties (tax and spend; borrow and spend). Too often on these pages, one side is damned and the other glorified. Anyone with a balanced brain knows one side isn’t much different than the other.
Speaking of how to finance the needs, which are mammoth, I believe your ideas may find some merit in the future. Just underground water lines alone in many of our cities equate to hundreds of miles of needed replacement. Many water and sewer lines are 80-100 years old……..they don’t last forever and since they’re hidden underground, we don’t think of the need until the gusher comes up under your neighborhood street! Very good discussion.

Thanks, Silverdollar — I go along w/ what the late George Wallace said, that there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between Establishment Party A and Establishment Party B

They just dug up an old waterline at a main intersection near here and they said in the news it was from 1880. I hope it didn’t have lead in it. Anything is possible remember Flint Michigan. Infrastructure building and repair is sorely needed. DT

Aren’t all the joint in lead (at the connecting points). I think they were using lead up to 1970, in Indianapolis.

          joint to joints

Hi Jerry, in those days the pipe was probably made of lead, but certainly as you suggest lead was used in the joint compound. When I was going to PDAC in Toronto this year I found a 1947 American dime in the snow. I hadn’t seen one in a long time. It was worth $1.10 in silver value and content was 90% AG. “Those Were The Days”, A Bunker, 704 Hauser St. Brooklyn, New York. LOL! DT

            Hello DT…….
I love those mercury dimes….What might be funny, is someone else saw it, and decided they would not bend over and pick up a measly dime…lol
Almost like the story of the candy bar and the bar of silver , that was playing a couple of years ago…….lol

DT: Yes, I’ve seen old water lines from that era. Many were wooden, encased in a spiraled coil to hold it together. Think Jerry is correct in talking about the lead in solder at the joints.

    You boys see this?

Jimmy Dore puts the wood to the progressives and liberal media while defending Tucker Carlson.

It takes a special kind of fool to buy the propaganda against Assange. Here’s Tom Woods and guest:

That Woods interview was a good one. As far as Dore goes, I don’t agree with much he says about economics but when it comes to Assange and foreign policy in general he gets it right.

          Apr 17, 2019 17:44 PM

I agree with that. It’s odd that lefties like him have such faith in their totalitarian solutions despite spending so much time calling out the totalitarian actions that they don’t like.
At least he admits he’s dumb.

            Apr 18, 2019 18:22 AM

Yes. The lefties (really only some of them) rightfully whine about the evil of the government’s foreign policies yet they trust the entire health care system and much more to the same government. That never made any sense to me. They seem totally oblivious to the fact that everything goooberment does is based on coercion and that is the essence of government and iit doesn’t bother them at all.

            Apr 18, 2019 18:21 AM

They’re a primitive bunch so I keep my contact with them to a minimum.

            Apr 18, 2019 18:24 AM

Remember, a lefty is as a lefty does, so there are plenty of them who don’t see themselves as such.
