Weekend Show Preview – How gold is reacting to economic data and the USD

Cory
July 26, 2019

Unfortunately today is a bit of a slow day when it comes to interviews. A lot of my typical contacts are on route to Vancouver (or getting ready) for the Sprott conference. So I am posting this call with Doc that will be featured on this weekend’s show. We look at the gold market and how gold is holding nicely in the face of a USD that is still in an uptrend.

    Off Topic?

The new spending deal between Republicans and Democrats seems to me to be little short of a Machiavellian plot to rip off the General Public…….so typical of Governments – the PROBLEM not the SOLUTION.

    Let’s look at the “deal”:
It kills the debt limit until after the next election.
It creates an excessive amount of social spending, without solving either the border problem, the illegals problem, the voting problem.

    Look at the future:
With ever increasing debt, it will be necessary to reduce interest rates in order to be able to carry the debt without the interest consuming much of taxation.
Is there any doubt that sooner or later that the US Government will be forced to print more Federal Reserve notes or digital money? (Simply because the rest of the world not not loan to the US anymore.)
Is there any doubt that eventually this will result in a lower dollar? (Note: I am not saying the dollar will soon start going down, but that eventually it will lose significant purchasing power.)
Is this not what the US government is trying to get to, in order to effectively reduce the effective National Debt?
But note that in the process; even if they don’t blow up the banking system, politicians are set to impoverish all citizens in order to stay in power by bribing citizens (and illegals) for more votes.

    Was Machiavelli ever this criminal?

Hi Doc, as we have some big gains in NGD I was wondering if you have sold yours? Since mid-May it has gone from .61 to 1.56 and is now 1.40. My gut told me to sell some @1.50, but then I saw that it was 2.00 a year ago, 4.00 in Aug of 2017, and 6.00 in Aug of 2016.
I think Renaud Adams will turn things around at NGD and with gold at 2K or 3K NGD can still go much higher. So I have not sold even tho I expect a correction.
Do you own Miramont MRRMF? After 3 days of trying to buy it@ .08 my buy order finally filled this morning and it closed @ .0846 so I am up almost 6% today. Life is good.

      Jul 26, 2019 26:46 PM

BB, in the big move of PM stocks of 2015 and 2016 I sold a lot of my positions since I felt strongly at that time that the gains would not hold and that was correct. This time around I’m not going to get cute and try to time the ups and downs since I feel this is the early beginnings of a multi-year move up. I’m holding on to my NGD and will add about 10-20% of my position on a pullback. I’m now in this thing for the long term. I do not own Miramont but did take a position in NVO.V this past week.

        Jul 26, 2019 26:17 PM

Thanks, Doc. Glad to hear you bought some NVO.V and did not sell your NGD. If we hold on through the bull market I think we’ll be very happy with Novo and NGD. Miramont is a gamble on exploration which will either go under or pay off really big. The most I can lose is 8 cents a share but I might make several dollars a share, so I like the odds.

They do not need anymore money………WHERE IS THE $21 TRILLION

        Jul 26, 2019 26:40 PM

“Under this deal, the Pentagon and its affiliated programs will get $1.48 trillion over the next two years. The entire rest of gov’t, including the VA btw, will get $1.30 trillion. That’s $178.6 billion more for the Pentagon than the whole rest of gov’t,” Miles wrote. “So, for the love of god, can we all stop pretending like this is somehow anything other than a continued orgy of unprecedented, wasteful, and obscene spending at the Pentagon.”

Lot of political KICK BACKS to pay for, I would say……
Considering there are now about OVER 6400 companies the pentagon uses as private contractors to skim the money…….and the scum suckers do not have to account for anything…..using the Fasbe 56 Rule , just invented by the present congress….

In a bipartisan deal that one anti-war critic said demonstrates how thoroughly “broken and captured Washington is by the Pentagon,” 219 House Democrats and 65 Republicans on Thursday voted to approve a budget agreement that includes $1.48 trillion in military spending over the next two years.

According to France 24 TV, During the 4 years prior to 1/1/18, approximately 650,000 Africans have migrated through Libya to Italy and into Europe.
It is thus not only the U.S. that is experiencing mass migration.

The common factor, however, is that the migrants consist of poorly-educated (first-generation almost unemployable) people; many of whom are illiterate or semi-literate, and with significant disease-carrying problems.

    e.g
Tuberculosis was eradicated in Western Europe, but is now becoming significant.

New cases in U.K. now running about 10K per year, whereas prior to the turn of the millenium most countries in Western Europe (except Portugal) were reporting numbers down to double digits…..like 25 in mid 1990s in U.K. coming from ex-colony immigrants.

The European Central Bank and 21 other central banks that are signatories of the Central Bank Gold Agreement have decided not to renew the agreement upon its expiry in September 2019.

The first agreement was signed in 1999 to coordinate the planned gold sales by the various central banks. When it was introduced, the agreement contributed to balanced conditions in the gold market by providing transparency regarding the intentions of the signatories. It was renewed three times — in 2004, 2009, and 2014 — gradually moving toward less stringent terms.

      OOTB Jerry says:
Does it mean that central banks no longer are in enough agreement about gold to continue to coordinate their market interventions and that they will let the market alone determine the monetary metal’s price, or let the anti-U.S. dollar faction of central banks determine the price through their own purchases and interventions?

The announcement says the parties to the agreement do not plan to sell significant amounts of gold, but what about interventions through swaps, leases, and derivatives, directly or through the Bank for International Settlements? The announcement doesn’t say.
