It (small advisory panel) was not in U.S. media, which I tend not to trust anyway.

From my memory it was in either a German newspaper or English newspaper summary of American news.
My best guess is that it was in the Guardian yesterday or the day before:
      e.g. of today’s summary:
      https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/live/2019/aug/16/trump-news-today-live-talib-israel-2020-democrats-latest-updates?page=with:block-5d56fa5c8f084f687f357f64

The summaries I read are like super DrudgeReports, but they don’t exist in the U.S. media except via google or Yahoo news…..which are totally biased.
I will look back and try to find original, but it may no longer exist.

    I agree with Jim.
I think Trump is trying to sustain the economy until he gets re-elected…..WITH A Republican majority in the House.
If he is re-elected, then he can cut the budget.

Representatives Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota — who are both Muslim, Mr. Netanyahu cited their support for boycotting Israel, acceding to the wishes of the American president, who declared on Twitter shortly before Israel’s announcement that letting them in would “show great weakness.”
Mr. Netanyahu, the prime minister faces a critical election next month.

Speaking with reporters before flying to Manchester, N.H., for a rally, Mr. Trump would not say whether he spoke directly with Mr. Netanyahu about the matter but acknowledged that he “did speak with people” privately even before tweeting about it.

The congresswomen are vocal supporters of the Palestinians and the movement called Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions, or B.D.S.

Since Neither of the Congresswoman wear a Hijab when out canvassing for votes in non-musilim districts, but do in Muslim majority areas, I, cfs, question whether the hijab is a religious requirment or a racist statement.
I’m serious. e.g. Go to Tlaib’s twitter account home page which she adds on political pamphlets. She is photographed with flowing black hair, no indication of Muslim modesty.

      Please note:

The Israeli government passed a law in 2017 barring supporters of the Boycott, Divest and Sanctions (BDS) movement from entering the country.
After Omar and Tlaib, who have expressed support for the BDS movement at various points, entered office, the question loomed about whether Israel would refuse to let them in.
That this was a question reflects the extent to which the Israeli government has designated opposition to its policies as not just illegitimate but also illegal.

Alhough it did seem that Benjamin Netanyahu initially wanted to avoid creating a diplomatic spectacle – the Israeli ambassador to the US, Ron Dermer, said in July that Omar and Tlaib would be permitted entry .

Tulsi Gabbard is currently age 38.
Next year she will be 39.

I know it would be nice to have a female President.
(Really ? Or is the sex of the President virtue signalling “I am not sexist.” ?
I think having a President who is knowledgeable and shares most of my political views is the one that gets my vote. Probable Competence wins over most anything else.

Now I display my AGIST attitudes…..

I don’t believe almost ANYONE in their thirties has enough real world experience or maturity to be President.

I know the Constitution says minimum age requirement is 35.
That was a statement about maturity.

In 1900, did you know white male life expectancy at birth was 47 ?
I don’t know what it was at the time of writing the constitution, but I imagine not much different. (Nutrition and medicine have radically changed life expectancy in the last century.)
I think intelligence and maturity are paramount in choosing a President.

(That immediately eliminates the “squad”; they are all too stupid and too young.)

I firmly believe that anyone under about 50 years of age has insufficient life experience to be a good President.

as regards an upper limit, it should ideally be 8 years prior to the possibility of dementia.
e.g. We all know Ronald Reagan’s second term was marred by his dementia; even if not heavily reported in the media.
    That’s my 2 cents.

David, Do I think Trump is self-centered and arrogant and bragging a lot ? Yes, without a doubt, he has terrible traits.
Do I believe he is President out of self interest ? No.
The preponderance of the evidence, I believe, indicates his love of country forced a self-sacrifice to become President.
He has clearly lost millions in being President and at his age has little to gain.
He has survived assassination attempts, and media that denigrates him hourly.

      cfs says:

Let me raise again the concept of Trump’s action re. China…….

He has been criticized for not reaching an agreement.
He has been criticized because economists believe tariffs raise costs for Americans unacceptably.
All media decided Trump was wrong in his policies, even many Republicans in Congress.

Yet let’s examine the original situation as perceived by Trump, according to his statements.

Trump saw China stealing intellectual property, without any simple way of enforcing copyrights or trade secrets, or even majority ownership of American businesses operating in China.
Trump perceived that eventually this would destroy American enterprise.

Rightly or wrongly (and time will tell) Trump decided to place strategic tariffs on certain goods in a flexible way.

China’s immediate response, other than verbal, was to lower the RMB.
This substantially destroyed the criticism that Americans would have to pay higher prices for goods to a large extent. (Perhaps not completely, but significantly)

When China refused to come back to the negotiations, Trump raised tariffs on different goods.

He realized, he had not chosen wisely, and very quickly modified the schedule and list of goods.
Was that on the advice of experts ? I don’t know, but suspect it was.
i.e. I’m not sure his self-centered nature is not overridden by intelligence.
He may brag about not reading, but I suspect that is a lie.
He may claim to be always right, but I suspect that is a lie which he recognizes and does take advice to change his position.
He is a New Yorker and New Yorker are a strange breed of Humans! Especially from Brooklyn.
