John Rubino over at Dollar Collapse – Mon 26 Aug, 2019

Comparing the last gold bull market to now

When we look abck at the last bull market for gold we have to go back 10 years. Comparing that time to now there are some similarities and one major factor with central banks. John Rubino, Founder of the Dollar Collapse website shares his thoughts on the similarities. I stick to the fact that the Fed is now cutting rates and will be doing so for the foreseeable future.

I have found that taxing the middle class is feasible, though not productive since the middle class is disappearing and the upper class expanded. CFS – Note Rule’s words about Human Action by Ludwig von Mises (the greatest economist in history).

Even the first three quotes from his Wikipedia page are well worth sharing:

If history could teach us anything, it would be that private property is inextricably linked with civilization.

Whoever wishes peace among peoples must fight statism. (Fyi, neocons are statists just like all leftists.)

Peace and not war is the father of all things.

von Mises may be called a great economist, but he lived in different times. I just re-read chapters 19 and 20 on interest rates, and quite frankly they in no way take into account the international nature of economies.
In today’s world money flows across borders and it is relative, not absolute values that are relevant. I also have a problem that there is not a single equation in Human Action.
If ever there was a subject for which the language should be math, it is economics.
(I am not, of course, talking about simple algebraic equations.)

      • On August 27, 2019 at 7:06 am,
        Matthew says:

You are absolutely wrong, CFS. Nothing has changed to make the Austrian School less relevant and your need for equations comes from your lack of understanding. Keynesian economics is nothing but a statist/leftist scam designed to legitimize and give cover to the fraudulent Ponzi scheme monetary system that your owners cooked up and you defend.

The scam is all you know and you can’t accept that those running it have completely tricked you for your entire life. There’s not a shred of legitimacy to it yet here you are defending the completely leftist system. IT is upside down and unsustainable, not the Mises’ understanding.

Again, nothing has changed to render sound money or free markets obsolete. There is no such thing as a “necessary evil” yet you claim there is with your defense of Keynesian sorcery. The fact that you fell for and parroted the “isolationist” nonsense that the shills used on Ron Paul says it all.

It makes all the sense in the world as their economic sensitivity metrics are much more robust now. Some presentations only showed figures up to $1400 or mayb $1500 gold. Gold is now at $1550 and appears to want to head higher.

For the longest time we heard pundits say NOT to value companies on where you thought the Gold prices were going (which I disagreed with, because those levels at $1100 and $1200 were not going to stay static), but we were advised to only use metrics where they are. Well, I wonder if those same talking heads, are now using $1550 Gold – “Where gold is today” (their words) to value these development stage companies. If so these companies need to be re-rated MUCH higher than where they are trading today.

Todays moves was specifically due to a short squeeze on the closing day on COMEX Silver.
I would not expect similar jumps in the next few days, although Friday is closing day for London gold.

Three Texas Congressmen, Michael McCaul (R-TX-10), Randy Weber (R-TX-14), and Henry Cuellar (D-TX-28) introduced bipartisan legislation that would allow federal law enforcement officers and prosecutors to better identify and charge those committing acts of domestic terrorism in the United States. H.R. 4187, the Domestic Terrorism Penalties Act of 2019, would replicate the penal code structure used to prosecute “International Terrorism” to establish penalties for crimes committed specifically under the definition of “Domestic Terrorism.” In turn, this bill will provide law enforcement with the tools necessary to charge acts of domestic terror and ensure these crimes are prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

The Bill URL is given below:

The proposed bill would create a broad definition of “domestic terrorism” to include any attempt to “affect” or “influence” government policy or actions. And it would include property damage—even attempted property damage—as a terrorist act subject to a 25-year prison sentence.

In other words, if you opposed the Dakota Access pipeline at Standing Rock and wanted the government to revoke the pipeline permit, you might be considered a terrorist.

If you painted “Black Lives Matter” on a wall to advocate against police violence, that could be terrorism, too.
