    Fritz Bender says:

As a student of history I see parallels between the communist/fascist of the 30’s in Germany and now. Difference being people had to take to the streets back. Today it is the softer social media clashes. Let me ask you this….. How do you respond to a close one who is a woman and automatically assumes if you are white and male you are privileged?

    • On December 15, 2019 at 8:27 am,
      cfs says:

Fritz, you have to gently inform her that such beliefs are the results of media propaganda and simply not true.
Does anyone really believe, in the present time, that women are really discriminated against on basis of sex alone ?
(The key word being ” against”.
Name a job for which a woman is paid less than a man, doing the same thing.
Does a female teacher get paid less than a man teaching the same subject ?
Does a female Bus driver get paid less than a male bus driver ?
Does a black bus driver get paid less than a white bus driver ?
Does a female doctor charge less than a male doctor ?
Does a white doctor charge more than a black doctor or an Asian doctor ?
Tackle the wage question head on. NOT in generalities, but in specifics.
Yes, on average women get paid less than men, BUT THERE IS NOT A SINGLE EXAMPLE, if you look hard, where a woman is paid less than a man for the SAME JOB.
In the US armed forces, for example, women get paid the same as men, but have physical rules changed in their favor , so they don’t have to perform as physically hard as men.
Look up the statistics on deaths of males versus females in ordinary jobs…..the ten times death rate of males versus females demonstrates that males do not necessarily do the same jobs as females on average….that is where the wage differential really occurs.
Men are different physically from women. That is nature, but that is where the difference in pay arises. Is it reasonable to pay a person the same, even when they are not capable of physically doing the same job ? The media and women, in general, point to averages, and claim wage discrimination, but the point is women and men get paid the same for doing the same job; the appearance of discrimination occurs in different job capabilities. Name one trade union that would ever allow a woman to be paid less than a man doing the same job. It is necessary to focus on specific jobs, not generalities.

I believe fully, the above, but have never won an argument against women along those lines. Time and again I have asked women to produce specific examples of where there is discrimination for identical jobs, and they fail. It always reduces to “but women only get paid 65% on average of what men do.” or some similar statistic not based on identical jobs.
Pointing out that equality and fairness would not apply if women or Blacks were paid the same even though they could not do the same job. Where they do the same job, they get paid the same, almost always.
For decades we have had reverse discrimination in the US, where being black and/or female gave an advantage, for example, being hired to the police or getting admission to medical school.
Is it really fair to continue discrimination against white and male, because of historical discrimination ? After how many generations is it time to be sex and race neutral ?

However, we still see requests for reparations against slavery, which happened 200 years ago. I suspect race or sexual bias discrimination claims will continue forever, even though specific examples can only rarely be demonstrated in this day and age.

My response is always a bit of background on myself. For me anyway, that always clears it up. But then again, my background is somewhat unique. I also always explain my feelings about privilege as it relates to my Christian philosophy.

Hope that helps. I am very aware that it will not help if the person you are speaking with truly has a chip on his/her shoulder.

Just before posting this, I watched a scene from ABC’s annual holiday airing of The Sound of Music. A music teacher was leading the kids in rehearsal for the town’s concert. A local politician, now turned Nazi, just after the anschluss, drives up and asks to deliver a message to the Captain (Christopher Plummer). One of the children later aks the music teacher: “Why is he so cross?” To which the music teacher replied: “Everyone is cross these days…” Deja vu all over again.

  4. On December 15, 2019 at 8:13 am,
    Dick Tracy says:

What causes polarization, it is when intolerance becomes an American virtue. The Democrats wanted to destroy Trump after he was elected so they took out “The Bolshevist Brush”, and gave him a good tarring. They were unaware of his ability to fight back even though they also had closed the gates of Washington to him. Trump is like the Teflon Don and The Manassas Brawler, he fought back against their intolerance of having an outsider, a foreigner in their midst. What really bothered them was his way of doing deals, Trump had always worked and lived in the real World where decisions are made quickly and not decided over years of meaningless negotiations, that usually end in a stalemate. When the brush didn’t work they settled on a process of impeachment. This drives people into two groups those who see subversive elements taking over their government and those who believe that it is all a ploy by The Democrats to gain power. It leaves a nation divided. DT

I don’t know why but I find it to be offensive when the ad is a video on youtube and the actual editorial is an audio. Maybe I am just jealous that I did not think of that ploy!

I just watched Larry Kudlow talk about protection of copyright and property rights enforcement and then I remember walking out of the Forbidden City in Beijing and just oiutside the wall, right next to the moat I remember Chinese me with wheelbarrows and carts selling iems to tourist that looked like Burberry scarfs and ties and Omega watches and other things that clearly violated rules about copying. I could not tell if these where manufacturing over-runs from the original products being made in China or rubbish fakes. I suspected that the Burberry products were probably over-runs just taken out of a factory, but that the Omega watches were cheap fakes, but I could not tell.
There were many other products with well-known names, presumably cheap fakes, especially jewelry products.

Real Rolex watches are very durable. They just don’t keep as accurate time as cheaper watches. Someone I used to know who bought one for the prestige, returned it because of the way it kept time.

If you agree with the Democrat platform, why do you believe it is Constitutional ?
Much of what government does nowadays is just not authorized by the U.S. Constitution.
Not what Republicans do or want to do,
even worse, what Democrats want to do.
Congress has ridden rough-shod over the Constitution for years.
