Lobo Tiggre, Editor of The Independent Speculator joins me to share his preference between gold or silver stocks in 2020. While encouraging how well both are holding up during this short-term pullback it’s still critical to be very selective in terms of the metals stocks you are buying. We also quickly touch on jurisdiction when it comes to silver stocks.

The gold stocks bottomed in 2018 and look great while the silver stocks bottomed last May and look even better. The outperformance will continue and even become more pronounced.

SILJ is up 21% vs GDXJ since May (as much as 30% by the end of December).

Anybody following GPL? Up 13% so far today. Using Rick’s rule of looking to the left to see how many highs were taken out by this rise, this is one hellava impulse leg! Should certainly fill the gap by tomorrow.

    Gold’s Big Picture

From the HRA Journal: Issue 314 – Eric Coffin

“The resource sector, especially gold and silver stocks, have had their own rally. Our Santa Claus market was as good or better than Wall St’s for a change. And I don’t think its over yet. I think we’re in for the best Q1 we’ve seen for a few years. And we could be in for something better than that even. I increasingly see signs of a major rally developing in the gold space. It’s already been pretty good but I think a multi-quarter, or longer, move may be starting to take shape.”

Multi-Year. We are in the very early innings (2nd) of Phase III of secular bull that began in early 2000’s. Gold has just moved out of its 6-Yr base, which puts the yellow metal in late Stage I; very early Stage II advance mode, while Silver remains in its base and likely moves up and out sometime this year. Nonetheless, Phase III is underway and it will be both powerful and last for years. There will be consolidation and pullbacks along the way, which will be healthy and provide opportunity. Enjoy the ride!

They had a lot of problems the last few years, which is why their shareprice tanked, and then they bought Beadell for gold exposure, since they were not cutting it with Silver, but it does seem like the worst is over and they are on the upswing finally. They may be a dark horse that comes from behind and surprises investors in 2020.
