On the back of central bank and government actions is the market at a near-term bottom?

Chris Temple joins me today to share his thoughts on the central bank and government actions recently aimed at stabilizing the markets. A reversal day (so far) for the markets but the USD continues to head higher which is a concern.

With due respect, I think Chris demeans the threat of this virus situation to the American population. Ackman’s history of talking his book aside, what he stated imo was the possibility of this threat getting ahead of the medical establishment and overwhelming the system. Personally, I don’t think that’s far down the road, no more than a month. If it comes, it will be from a number of failures. Basically, though, our government shoved it under the rug for a month at least. We could have been working on those hospital ships all that time. We could have gotten the manufacture of masks sped up and all the supplies our health care workers need and are short of. I hope you don’t have to eat your words on this issue Chris, but I think you have at least a 50% chance. Chew slowly and good luck.

No question, in some ways The Orange Wonder was slow out of the gate; and that put us at a disadvantage. I simply look at the better situations elsewhere; and have part-confidence and yes, part-hope we catch up before this gets to the point that Ackman suggested.

The system could never really be expected to cope in this first wave but things will settle down eventually and the survivors (i.e. the vast majority of us if we’re lucky) will have to deal with the fallout which will be huge. Maybe it’ll be a better, less superficial world, that would be a change for the better.

(NEE) (NHVCF) Northern Vertex Receives Federal Permit for the Expansion of Operations for the Moss Gold Mine In Northwest Arizona

    Mar 19, 2020

“the expansion is a very important milestone for the Company as it is expected to increase efficiencies that will significantly reduce operating costs at the mine. In addition, the expansion also allows for exploration drilling to be carried out in order to expand the current mineral resource and extend the mine life.”

If by near term you mean in the coming days then yes, the market could have reached a bottom. However in the coming weeks we will see new lows across the board I believe. Simply because this global issue will get worse before it gets better, a new wave of panic will set in. Thats when we get a repeat of the selling weve witnessed in the last couple of weeks. Also new meausres implemented by the relevant authorities in conjunction with coronavirus will be interpreted as bad news and that will help further exacerbate the panic.
