As for the comments in Jordan’s editorial that the SilverSqueeze phenomenon a few weeks ago did not attract new investors to the space…. all one has to do is go over to reddit and Wallstreet Bets Silver, and there are post thread with thousand of likes and comments about people buying their first silver coins or bars or buying PSLV, and there is some limited discussions about buying silver miners. It’s the same on most of the YouTube comment sections on the multitude of videos that covered the Silver Squeeze.

The point is that most of the new buyers aren’t going to jump right into Silver Juniors, so to look for volume from 2 weeks and declare there aren’t new investors is pretty near-sighted. For most investors, when they discover the precious metals, they start with the physical, then ETFs like SLV or close-end funds like PSLV, and the eventually some will filter down into the mining stock ETFs like SIL and SILJ, and then further down their journey will get into individual mining stocks.

To look for a flood of new investors in junior mining stocks 3 weeks later is looking in the wrong place. Most of the new investors are focused on the physical as their first exposure, and rightly so. It will take time for this new pool of investors to find the stocks many of us invest in, and it was positive for this sector that Silver got so much attention, and sure beats the opposite of where nobody was discussing it.

The United States 10-Year Bond Yield is up again in early morning hours to 1.44%.

(These rising rates are pressuring Gold a bit as well)

I think what Powell said yesterday s very negative for gold. They are pumping the conventional markets – and global markets are going up also – until they get some kind of inflation. All this deflation stuff, which is often touted on here, just looks plain wrong. We should have been talking about copper and oil daily for the last 12 months and not gold and silver. Likewise tech – which I now suspect is going to take the NASDAQ to crazy new highs whilst most on here – sorry – are angsting over whether gold goes up or down a few bucks.

      Feb 25, 2021 25:43 AM

Hi Bob UK. All of the insane money printing by the FED and other Central Banks around the world, combined with all the enormous government stimulus initiatives in most countries will end up being more inflationary than deflationary, and we’ve seen that in the commodities as you mentioned – Copper, Nickel, Zinc, Oil, Soft commodities & grains, Lithium, Rare Earths, etc….

One of the most discussed themes for this has in fact been the reflation trade, so I haven’t heard many discussing a deflation here on the KER. Just look at how weak the US Dollar has been, which is also inflationary longer term. We’ve been discussing this Dollar weakness the last 2 years on here.

As for discussing Copper, we’ve also been discussing it most days for the last year, so I’m not sure how you missed it. Look over at the other 2 blogs from Wednesday, and there was plenty of discussion on the copper stocks. Heck, just on Monday, Cory did company updates with 2 different copper stocks — Kodiak Copper and Granite Creek Copper.

If one reads the blog from the Granite Creek interview, most of the discussion was around Copper.

As for Oil, it isn’t something I personally trade except sometimes via the ETFs (XLE), (XOP), and (OIH), but I’ve seen plenty of folks discussing their Oil stock trades on here over the last year as well.

On the weekend show 2 whole parts were as follows:

Segment 3 and 4 – “Rick Bensignor wraps up the Weekend Show by sharing his thoughts on a wide range of commodities that are breaking out. On the breakout side we discuss Copper and Oil.”

So I’m not really following your comment that you made:

“We should have been talking about copper and oil daily for the last 12 months and not gold and silver”

All of it has been discussed many times.

          Feb 25, 2021 25:53 AM

On Tuesday where John discussed Copper and Palladium stocks. How one can conclude that Copper, or Commodities, aren’t being discussed here is quite puzzling.

“John Feneck, Portfolio Manager and Consultant at Feneck Consulting joins me for a look into his portfolio that is diversified outside of the precious metals. While gold has been correcting for 7 months and silver has been stuck in a range there are other commodities that have been breaking out during this time. We focus on copper and a energy stocks that John likes.”

Believe we discussed inflation quite well here as most of us on here agree it’s already here. Just look at your monthly bills. We also discuss cannabis cryptos uranium REE’s EV Battery(suppliers and makers) even the future powering stations for the EV boom….I unfortunately covered copper and leaned towards exploration plays as I expected it to be another 6-12 months before copper really took off……I’ve even suggested a 5G play. I’ve suggested my picks in all the sectors I’ve mentioned. Feel free to make some yourself and start discussions on them….and of course PM’s are at the forefront…that’s the main topic that drew most of us here. Mining stocks are the advertisers here for a reason

        Feb 25, 2021 25:42 AM

        +1 Well-stated Wolfster.

Your comments on various sectors, and specific stock picks are always appreciated.

    Feb 25, 2021 25:23 AM

I picked up a JDST position again in the premarket trading, just in case we see a bit of weakness in the mining shares as Gold is under pressure again today.

      Feb 25, 2021 25:44 AM

Are you posting about gold being down a few bucks????😎…….it’s still early…. I’m watching silvermore closely these days. Hoping to see a weekly close finally above $28

        Feb 25, 2021 25:56 AM

Good one Wolfster. Haha! Yes indeed, but not angsting over it. 😉

Just a little hedge trade against my bullish bets on the gold miners.

Yeah, I’ve been watching Silver more lately as well, and with 25 Silver stocks in my portfolio, it gets a fair bit of my attention, and always has. Overall it has held up much better than Gold, and the Silver stocks have outperformed the Gold stocks, which is what we want to see in a healthy PM bull.

          Feb 25, 2021 25:03 AM

It’s easy to see the divergence in GDXJ versus SILJ since last summers correction in the PM sector. The gold miners are net down, while the silver miners are net up.

This is also why it pays to have a diversified portfolio.

Personally, my portfolio has continually made new all time highs last year and this year, and even this week, because instead of only having gold stocks (like many resource investors), I’ve got plenty of exposure to Silver stocks, Copper stocks, Platinum/Palladium/Nickel stocks, Zinc stocks, Uranium stocks, Lithium stocks, and even have a few cannabis & psychedelic therapies stocks in the mix now. I also took advantage of the moves up in the Cryptos since the fall of 2020, but am completely out of those positions as of this week.

Most of the folks I see on investing blogs griping about hard times, are the ones concentrated into only gold miners, and they don’t have diversification into other sectors (which is a shame, as most of the other sectors have done much better than gold stocks for the last 7 months). That’s what makes a market though.

            Feb 25, 2021 25:18 AM

On the cannabis news front IM Cannabis to commence trading on Nasdaq march 1

            Feb 25, 2021 25:27 AM

Nice! Thanks Wolfster, as I’ve been watching for that to happen ever since they did the share consolidation, and didn’t want to buy IM Cannabis until it hit the big board.

Currently I’ve just been swing trading the (MJ) ETF, but am also considering buying Red, White, & Bloom and Planet 13 that we discussed in the past. Other considerations are Fiore Cannabis that Dan, calgary brought up, and I’ve been looking into Delta 9 and Emerald Health. Do you have any thoughts on those?

I’ve also picked up both Mind Medicine and HAVN Life Sciences in the psychedelic therapies space, and am considering adding Mydecine Innovations in the near future. Do you have any plays in this sector?

            Feb 25, 2021 25:31 AM

Hey Ex. Red White and Bloom just announced a big move into Florida today that I never saw coming. Still love them but today’s news has it popping. I’m not familiar with the other plays. I’m more into the bigger players still right now
As for the psych plays. I have HAVN and have been looking at the mind med warrants for a good leverage opportunity. Not familiar with any other psych plays yet

            Feb 25, 2021 25:26 AM

Thanks for the heads up on what is driving Red, White, and Bloom today.

          Feb 25, 2021 25:04 AM

On the copper front I am keeping an eye on Nevada Copper and Excelsior warrants…of the two Nevada looks like theirs are looking like good value for good leverage if they meet projections going forward. Excelsior are actually not considered overvalued at present time but are outside of my bargain zone especially for a play that is probably 2 months away from any news that could be a catalyst and has huge overhang now from flippers who just wanted warrants from recent pp

            Feb 25, 2021 25:15 AM

For the copper stocks my portfolio consists of these. Sierra Metals, Excelsior Mining,
Wester Copper & Gold, Atico Mining Corp, Triumph Gold, Kodiak Copper Corp,
Granite Creek Copper, Dore Copper, and the yet to list Sombrero Resources (spun out from Auryn when they formed Fury). I just sold my Filo Mining yesterday as it had really run up nicely lately.

            Feb 25, 2021 25:17 AM

One Copper stock I had a good trade on last year was scooping up Sun Metals when there was blood in the streets, and then selling it when the news came out that they were being acquired and merging with Serengeti Resources. I’m still considering buying back the combined company at one point, but sold and booked the win when it came.

            Feb 25, 2021 25:22 AM

I haven’t really looked closely at Nevada Copper, but will take a look. Thanks Wolfster.

            Feb 25, 2021 25:32 AM

Someone else here mentioned Nevada unfortunately I can’t give credit cuz I don’t remember who it was

    Feb 25, 2021 25:37 AM

Here is an overnight success I had that took 18 months with a 90 trading halt thrown in, I sold for a triple this Monday and still have about 40% of my stock left. The company has no visible prospects after losing there South American mine last year due to current account debt. I do not recommend it but what the hell, it’s going up, haha!;-)
