Why did the Chinese cover-up the development of the Wuhan virus ?
1. They had a military presence in that lab, and they didn’t want anyone to know about it.
2. They didn’t want the world to know they were incompetent.

As an ex-teacher, let me say it is very easy not to keep up with state of the art in your field. Summers used to be a time when teachers studied hard and caught up to date on material they did not have time to read when in session.
How times have changed, as many teachers now take the whole summer as vacation time, while complaining about lack of pay.

Before I retired long ago, the administration used to assign me to masters and PhD level classes, because I was “hard on undergrads”.
For some reason, they used to think that once a textbook was chosen knowledge was also frozen in time. But electronic device physics was advancing weekly, as new and better ways of doing things advanced rapidly.
The most amazing thing I noticed over the years was the rate of growth in administration of schools. I come from from small town backgrounds…..an army brat who went to ten different schools, if you count one university as a school.
Whyen I started out just after WWII, a school with 300-400 students would be run by an administration of 2 full-time administrators and 4 or 5 cleaning/maintenance staff and one general secretary, one nurse/secretary and about 20 teachers, who mostly did their own duplication, etc. An equivalent school today typically has as many permanent staff as teachers. i.e. administration has doubled, as class size has increased slightly.
I suspect , while students know more nowadays, their ability to think independently and analyse things has dropped significantly.
In Texas they have drive up voting, and yet democrats are protesting against voter IDs.
Are people allowed to drive in Texas without carrying a driver’s license ?
