Recapping this US market and gold charts in a longer term

Cory
June 16, 2021

Robert Sinn, better known as Goldfinger over at ceo.ca joins us to comment on the strange market environment where US markets are very quiet while commodities are volatile. We look at the pullback broadly in commodities as well as focus on the gold chart. There are also some comments on Fed policy and the impossible game it’s playing.

Powell blew smoke but the dollar went up (possibly fabricated), metals and miners smashed a couple of times. Dollar started to come back, which maybe will continue and we will have another day of some up and some down. I will say that Powell was throwing the word “inflation” all over the place but it only stuck to the bottom of his shoes.

Thanks EX. Amazing how many overlaps they have with the KE Crowd. I think they are looking on our papers.

Haha! Well, hopefully the folks at the Silver Investor Forum also like our show content and our blog comments on the Silver miners; but really there is only a small universe of Silver mining stocks, as compared to the hundreds and hundreds of Gold mining stocks, so most investors are focused on the same companies. It is very similar to the Uranium sector in that sense.

This list of company interviews from the Silver Investor Summit is very impressive and I have positions in 7 of those companies they interviewed (Discovery Silver, Reyna Silver, GR Silver, Santacruz Silver, Impact Silver, Dolly Varden, and Metallic Minerals).

There are still a dozen good Silver juniors that were not part of that summit, and a dozen or so good larger development stage and production stage companies that were not included as well, so there are more opportunities out there for investors. Still there is no way to cover every company at any event, so this was a really solid offering for investors to review.

I have Discovery, Blackrock, GR, Santacruz, Silver Viper, Metallic. Finally Powell quit: Keeping rates low, no solution for debt, negative rates go on, still going to buy treasuries without interruption and inflation everywhere. That sounds like metals should be good. How much worse can things get?

          Jun 16, 2021 16:01 PM

That’s a solid list of Silvers from the above virtual Silver Investor Forum as well David.

Yes, glad the Powell Fedbabble is done now.

We may see a month or two of decreases in CPI metrics, and a bit more pressure on commodities (especially if the US Dollar continues to bounce a bit more), but overall the trend is still going to be higher for inflation medium to longer term, and if it outpaces rates, then yes, real rates will stay negative which will be good for Gold.

As to how much worse things could get? (I shudder to think about questions like that after the last year and the craziness we’ve seen. It’s crazy enough as it is… 🙂 )

A wash today: down .2%. Looked like most days.

I bought Dolly V @.49 cents because Herbert Hoover opened that mine and made a fortune there. They will find a lot more silver there and HL and Fury are adjacent.

      Jun 16, 2021 16:39 PM

Bonzo, now I’m getting worried. Every time I’m thinking of taking an initial position in a stock you mention it. I hope you have a “great mind” because you know the old saying: “great minds think alike”.

      Jun 16, 2021 16:40 PM

Bonzo – yes those are both solid points for DV. Yes, that area over to the west with gold targets for Dolly Varden is adjacent and contiguous with Fury Gold’s Homestake Ridge project, so I’m curious to see if they do any exploration work there this year if they can prove up that the gold mineralization continues onto their land and project as well.

Then that begs the question next, if that gold thesis plays out, of whether those 2 projects makes sense to combine in some way, so maybe Fury buys that project off of Dolly Varden, or they do some kind of JV together, or something along those lines. It would then turn into a Silver & Gold stock.

There is also that Wolf target (near the prior producing historic Wolf mine) that is midway between the gold and silver targets so that is also one I’d like to see the DV team drill a bit there this year.

In addition to all that , DV also has that other secondary Big Bulk copper-gold property that is adjacent to Libero Copper’s project, so that could be another value driver, offering exposure to Copper as well, but I’ve not seen much news about doing any work on that project. Still, it is interesting to see the work that Libero is doing, and I don’t think most investors are aware of Dolly’s Big Bulk project right next door.

Personally, I’m much more interested in the Silver exploration at Torbrit on the Torbrit Horizon, like the old Dolly Varden mine, including some of the deeper holes they have plnned; but those gold targets on the West stide next to Fury Gold’s land are still pretty interesting kickers.

        Jun 16, 2021 16:46 PM

On page 6 of the Corporate Presentation for DV Dolly Varden, there are maps that show the Fury Gold land package to the north, and the Big Bulk project adjacent to Libero Coppers land package. It also shows the Wolf target, the Torbrit and Dolly Varden mine targets, and the North Star target along that Torbrit Horizon. I’m looking forward to seeing if they poke a few more holes in that North Star area this year as well.

Correction: I should have said the Fury Gold land back is northwest, not just north. Really Homestake Ridge is mostly to west of the Dolly Varden property border.

It should also be pointed out that Hecla has land all around Dolly Varden, and Fury, so they have got to be watching all of this with keen interest. I hope the exploration team at DV hits big with the drill bit, so that it warrants upsizing the drill program beyond just the 10,000 meters planned for the first phase of exploration this year. We’ll see how it goes…

(FURY) Fury Gold Mines: Trading At A Deep Discount To Juniors Peers

        Jun. 15, 2021 – T.D. – Seeking Alpha

“Fury Gold Mines has had a busy start to the year with a flood of drill results from its flagship Eau Claire Project that lies south of Newmont’s (NYSE:NEM) Eleonore Mine and the announcement of an aggressive drill program at Homestake Ridge in British Columbia. While we haven’t seen any results yet from Homestake, the exploration results from Eau Claire have been solid, with a recent hit of 7.09 meters of 23.27 grams per tonne gold in drill-hole 21-EC-022. Unfortunately, the market hasn’t cared, with the stock down more than 10% year-to-date, massively underperforming the Gold Juniors Index (NYSEARCA:GDXJ). ”
