    THE DEMS.
    ” With them…Is very strong…The dark force “……………….YODA.

Nancy Pelosi and The Socialist Democratic Party are caught between two fires, the Senate, and the political win of BOJO in England. The Democrats do not realize that the tide of events are threatening their opposition to Trump and spreading. Division has taken the place of unity, people want realism and the truth. The political war in Washington as happens with all of these movements will backfire on The Democrats. DT

As you are aware, that is exactly what my friend Jim Mc. has been saying for some time now.
Also, Mr. Tracy I believe that we are seeing a major shift in political trends in America. Maybe even throughout the world.

Please reply and elaborate on you feelings and thank you.

Dick you are sane and rationable : BUT The attemp to brand most DEMS as socialist is not plausable .. I AGREE WITH CALLING BIDEN AND SON AS WITNESSES. But we must guarentee that MULVANEY , BOLTON , AND POMPEO should also be called . Dont worry NANCY will send articles over as DEMS want a record of all senators voting. Maybee she will wait 6 weeks untill IOWA primarys are over. Good on you NANCY. best of XMAS to you all rsh

Soy prices are increasing from Argentina and Brazil because of China buying.
I don’t understand Trumps Ag policy of pushing food products on China, when China HAS to buy. Argentina has raised export taxes twice recently and is now using licensing o stop food shortages.

      Dec 21, 2019 21:58 AM

I kind of agree with you,CFS. Simplistically speaking, I would guess that Trump is simply trying to make a point. What do you think?

Don Buckner is perfectly correct in that it REALLY IS possible to control imports via tariffs.

    Is FREE TRADE a religion?
In an ideal world probably it makes sense, but in a real world it is a weapon. It is no accident that China is stealing intellectual property and using internal subsidies and slave labor to fight a hidden trade war.

No, of course it is absolutely no accident Professor!

Here are two excellent articles for those Republicans who insist on sticking with trump in the impeachment battle. The first one gives any and all a chance to get their views into the national print dialogue. There must be someone on this page with the standards demanded in the article: https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2019/12/18/impeachment-and-the-crack-up-of-the-conservative-mind-086888
The second article is simply an argument by former Senator Flake arguing the party itself has lost its way. Please don’t simply attack the messenger. Let’s here some compelling arguments for your stance: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2019/12/20/jeff-flake-gop-senate-colleagues-trump-is-trial-but-so-you/2715996001/

      Okay SilverDollar,

I have printed out both the articles which you referenced and no I will spend whatever time it takes to read and respond (if necessary) to each one.

        Dec 21, 2019 21:31 PM

        SilverDollar,

Please change “no” to “now” and forgive my typo!

          Dec 21, 2019 21:57 PM

          Hello SilverDollar,

First of all I just finished the op ed written my Former Senator Jeff Flake. As I recall the former senator was very close to John McCain who was very critical of Trump. My truthful comment about John McCain is that I do believe that he was an important war hero. I am not really sure that I could have withstood the torture that McCain went through. Reflecting on that, I have to wonder weather or not McCain’s mental faculties perhaps were jeopardized to an extent by that experience. I also have read material on some of the poor decisions that he made while in the military service prior to his capture.

Let me continue, if I were a child of McCain’s I certainly would have negative feelings about Trump because some of the comments that Trump made about McCain were in very poor taste.

In closing on the subject of Former Senator Flake, I am not convinced that it was inappropriate for Trump to investigate the actions of Biden and his son give the potentially serious allegations about the corruption of both of them. Hunter was clearly not qualified to be a director of the gas company. I think that you would have to agree with me on that one.

Okay, SilverDollar on to the next article. Back when I am done with it.

            Dec 21, 2019 21:10 PM

Here is a status report on the project which you assigned.

I think that I adequately addressed the issue brought up in the op ed by Former Senator Flake.

The second missive is much more thought provoking and I am now going to share it with my Book Club Members.

Back with you SilverDollar as soon as possible.

            Dec 21, 2019 21:40 PM

What kind of Republican is “very close” to warmonger McCain? The Flakey kind.

      Dec 21, 2019 21:40 PM

The whole thing is due to TDS. The entire left is pure corruption.

I wonder what Politico had to say about this book:

Mathew, the interesting thing about political discussion is that everyone believes that he/she is correct.

I am in the same camp that you are in judging by your two comments above.

          Dec 21, 2019 21:09 PM

Al, when “good’ people align themselves with the left, you know they don’t hold consistent beliefs. The biggest problem with the right is how left it has become.

I wonder why newspaper subscriptions went away. I know why mine stopped – I got tired of paying for lies and rubbish.
On line I changed from only reading U.S. sourced material to more international newspapers and magazines.
I still take “Time”, because I made the mistake of buying a 2-year subscription which will expire soon, not to be renewed, but no longer New York Times which is simply mostly news opinions as so much propaganda is entwined with hard news.

      Dec 21, 2019 21:19 PM

Allow me to let you in on a secret. If the MAJORITY of people believe a story, then it’s propaganda. It matters not what the story is (eg. greedy banksters are trying to take over the world, man is destroying the environment, Epstein debacle, etc.). All craftily designed stories to lead the masses headlong into the new age kingdom of Antichrist.

Love the show Big Al, and here is hopefully a meaningful contribution for us all to consider.

I have been listening to several complaints across the land and as we are approaching the time of year when many of us make New Year’s resolutions, seldom kept, I thought it would be good for all of us to look in the mirror to see how we are doing as individuals, families and communities.

For example, how many of us are concerned with the rising cost of healthcare, yet what are we doing about it? With about 50% of Americans suffering from obesity and the resultant negative effects such as diabetes, heart disease, joint issues, etc., are we adding to the dilemma or are we living prudently? Do we imbibe too much alcohol, smoke, or take drugs?

There is voluminous research, yea, proof that a healthy diet and exercise not only prevent many of the diseases and disabilities we suffer from, but can actually turn these diseases around without the use of the healthcare system. Groceries are far cheaper than medical care.

Eating sufficient amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains etc. and staying away from the over-consuming of junk, such as too much meat, sugar, salt, and etc. will lead to a better and healthier life overall. How much are we dependent on pills and surgery, which are far more expensive than healthy living?

Are we adding to the need for more healthcare and the subsequent rise in cost, or are we reducing the need for these things and not only are saving resources nationally, but our own pocketbook? Living a healthy lifestyle is less expensive all the way around.

How many complain about the direction of the country, and rightly so, but are ignorant as to the founding principles and documents that made us great? Have we read some of these documents, along with the writings of the founders, the debates in the constitutional convention, etc. to obtain a clearer understanding of the principles and how this republic is supposed to operate? Do we understand the limits that were placed on government? Do we know where our rights come from?

Do we know who our state, local, and national representatives are? Have we ever contacted them to discover where they stand on the important issues and are we, ourselves, on firm enough footing to adequately and intelligently discuss and advise on the issues? Are we contributing to the correct direction of the nation according to the founding principles? Do we understand the importance of morality in the founding and sustaining of this republic?

How is our financial health? Are we living beyond our means, leaving little of nothing set aside for near term and long term needs, such as retirement? Are we paying interest instead of earning it? Are we allocating our resources in a prudent manner and therefore exercising provident living? It is better for us, our families and our communities, not to mention reducing the overall burden of debt nationwide.

I believe that honest introspection of these and other issues, and thereby adhering to correct principles will not only bless our lives as individuals, but will also be better for our families, communities and the overall health and well being of the nation. Let us add to and not diminish this well being in all aspects of our lives. If we look in the mirror we will have met the enemy and the enemy is us in many cases.

Well, I own a copy of the Federalist Papers, and have read them from cover-to-cover, although not in recent years because I know our congress-critters mostly ignore the Constitution.
We hear Warren and other Democrat Presidential candidates talk of a tax on capital, which would clearly be unconstitutional, and yet hear not one peep from any as to seeking any change to the Constitution.
With recent abolition of the Obamacare tax, is the concept of Obamacare still Constitutional ? (I haven’t looked into it, but will this holiday time.)
There is so much done to us by our corrupt politicians by an unconstitutional invocation of the General Welfare clause, that I sometimes wonder just how long ago it was when the Constitution become substantially meaningless as a limitation to the power of Government.
Let’s face it, Government has the power to do pretty much whatever it chooses.
It only takes a big enough group of politicians to agree, and the Constitution is ignored.
(Ask American citizens of Japanese heritage about that.)

      Dec 22, 2019 22:26 PM

You are right about the general welfare clause, they use it to justify just about anything they wish to do. Thomas Jefferson talked about this in 1820 or so when the use of the clause was being used as justification back then. He said the clause is “reflexive” in nature and that the preamble of the constitution was telling us what the constitution itself would accomplish “to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty…” and was not license to do whatever they wanted based on this clause. He further stated that to do whatever they wanted based on that clause was not correct and would be an abuse of the preamble and the constitution itself.

It was this clause that was the justification for a national bank and Jefferson vigorously opposed such an interpretation. He said it would “take possession of a boundless field of power to do whatever evil they please.”

Oh, if we would only follow the intent of the document today, much evil would be avoided.

The fact is that these relentless investigations of the Ukraine scandal and media attacks on The President has threatened the status quo, this is the last thing that the country at large wants. The general opinion is that what Trump said about Ukraine was at most in very bad taste. People want normalcy and when there is a scandal they want to forget about it the next day, but The Democrats can’t stop stirring the pot over nothing. It has become a case where the public now looks at this situation and thinks the problem is not Trump, it is The Triumvirate, Pelosi, Schumer, and Shiff. DT

      Dec 22, 2019 22:35 AM

      Morning b,

Here is how I would explain it. “People really don’t give a darn” because they don’t stop and analyze a situation. Most people equate analyzing with voicing an emotional opinion resulting from not being aware of all sides of a story. I have learned that it is impossible to understand a situation if you completely tune out an opinion that you don’t agree with.

You know who I learned that from? You guessed it Bob Moriarty. I give Bob a lot of credit for much of my thinking. When I admitted that he was correct in some of what he said my perspective on the world became much more truthful.
