As one can see just from this last week of activity, there are plenty of JVs, project Acquisitions, and Mergers going on in the PM space.

        Jun 04, 2020 04:29 AM

Here is a Merger & Acquisition that has been the most exciting bidding war we’ve seen in the PM space in years, and instead, most commentators are only discussing the TMAC or Alacer acquisitions, which were much more lackluster in comparison.

Again, this is likely because of a jurisdiction bias where most North American investors are just not as interested in (SVM) Silvercorp – a Canadian company, operating mostly in China & Bolivia (via 29% stake in their spinout NUAG), as they bid on a Guyana based distressed producer (GUY) Guyana Goldfields, against a bid from diversified Latin American producer (GCM) Gran Colombia Gold, and now a new “foreign-based multinational mining company”.

There are 3 companies bidding on (GUY), one an un-named mysterious company, so I’m not sure what could be more interesting news in the M&A space, and yet few are even covering it.

        Stunning….

Before this is over Gold will become a national mania, the stories of wealth are becoming a discussion at the dinner table again. DT

+1 While we are a long way from that point still, I welcome more discussion on wealth, and the steps prudent investors should take to protect it for their family.

      Ex:
Thanks for all the updates. I feel like I have lost a day. My wife sent me out into the pandemic to get a new toaster. It better make good toast. Getting tired of sniffing disinfectant. Matthew’s bet on a reversal is getting some legs.

        Jun 04, 2020 04:13 PM

Good luck with the new toaster. I’ve got errands to run today and am stocked up on disinfectant and hand wipes, and hope to make it a brief pitstop.

Yes, there does seem to be some nice movement in the PM sector today.

Hey Ex – Do you know anything about the Antelope project in Nevada EMX optioned to Hochschild? It sounds like the prior mine there wasn’t a big gold producer, but it seems like a pretty large land package.

            Jun 04, 2020 04:15 PM

Hi Charles – I don’t know anything about the Antelope project that EMX optioned to Hochschild, but here’s a blurb off their website. The resources found don’t look very big at present, but I guess Hochschild is optioning it for exploration potential.
            ____________________________________________________________________

“The Antelope Project is located in the Illipah mining district of western White Pine county, Nevada. The Project is adjacent to the past producing Illipah open pit gold mine. Although the mineralization on the adjacent Illipah mine property provides geologic context for the Antelope Project, this is not necessarily indicative of mineralization hosted on the Company’s property. The Illipah deposit was discovered by Tenneco Minerals in 1981, and put into production by an Alta Gold-Echo Bay joint venture from 1987-1989 producing 54,198 ounces of gold . ”

            Jun 04, 2020 04:17 PM

It was only in production for 2 years before pricing went to crap for gold, so maybe Hochschild still believes there is a lot of ore left in the ground that they found back in the 80’s.

            Jun 04, 2020 04:26 PM

Correction, it is adjacent to the old mine, so the have no idea what is below the ground there. It seems like odd project for Producer of Hochschild’s size to option, as that looks like a project better suited for a grassroots explorer. One would think that they’d want to buy a project where the geology was better understood and with a defined resource in place, but maybe they want to start doing their own exploration.

            Thanks for the info Ex.

(HL) Hecla Mining: A Mixed Bag

    Jun. 3, 2020 – Fun Trading

Revenues were $136.93 million in 1Q’20, down 10.3% from a year ago, and down 39.1% sequentially.

Total production for the first quarter of 2020 was 3,245,469 Ag oz, and 58,792 Au oz for silver and gold, respectively. The limited production was due to mine shutdowns.

“The Idaho-based Hecla Mining (HL) is considered a “silver” stock, but in fact, the production of gold is the primary component for the miner now, with 57.1K Au Oz this quarter.”

I’d point out that in addition to the Gold, that Hecla produced a crap ton more Zinc & Lead than Silver.
